It worked out well. We are happy with their service. They did a good job and cleaned up after themselves. The scheduling was a little difficult to nail down but the job itself was great. The gutter helmets seem to be doing there job.

The estimator and the actual workers came when they were supposed to. Other than tearing my tree limb off they were good and I will use them again in the future.

I found Gutter Helmet on Angie's List and spoke directly with Kevin Golden, who runs it. He was very professional and courteous and asked lots of questions. Before meeting him, I had met with two other gutter installation outfits so I knew which questions to expect and which to ask. He was able to answer all my questions thoroughly and even gave me a 15% discount because he had been at a local street fair offering this discount but I had been unable to attend this fair. I'm a mom so initially I was a little nervous dealing with all this "man type stuff" but Kevin was very easy to deal with. He is not a "hard sell" type guy. Both crews seemed experienced and cleaned up after themselves for the most part. After the job was completed, I found a bunch of random nails and screws and small bits of metal lying around the garden but the two crews did clean up all the big stuff and swept the driveway really well, so I was fine with picking up a few nails and metal bits. The price was more expensive than the other two outfits I had interviewed, but I felt the Gutter Helmet product was better made plus it comes with a lifetime guarantee. Kevin also assured me he would be happy to follow up with me with regards to any possible questions or problems I might have with the product in the future. He was very sincere and I liked that. I did have one problem. A few weeks after the product was installed, we had some rain. I went outside to check out the gutters as Kevin had suggested. I did spot one problem with one corner where the water seemed to seep down. This had been a problem area to begin with based on the roof design. I called Kevin and within a week or so someone came out and fixed it. We've since had lots of rain this past fall and so far I haven't had any problems anywhere. I did receive a text from Kevin in December 2010 checking to see how everything was working out. I thought that was a great follow up. One other situation (I wouldn't call it a problem) was that initially it took a couple weeks to get the crews out here to get the original work done. Kevin told me they were busy with jobs and he apologized and assured me he would get the work done. I was fine with the short delay since it was still September (well before the typical rainy season). Kevin even offered to do touch-up paint jobs on areas of my house and garage that were affected by installing new downspouts. He said he would do the paint job for free. I declined as I plan on having my house and garage repainted altogether but I appreciated his generous offer. Overall I am extremely happy with Gutter Helmet. I would hire them again.

They have a lifetime guarantee on their work so it didn't cost us anything, just the aggravation caused by the roofing company. We found them at the home and garden show. They had a good reputation and we had seen them out there for a lot of years. We figured they were probably all right since they had been in business for a long time. They had given us an estimate and it all looked good. They said that if the gutters ever clogged or if there was ever any problems, they would service them for free. They haven't clogged and they don't leak. They have maintained their integrity. It was a good product. We had tried all kinds of do-it-yourself products before and these work great.

When we finally finished the new house and moved in, we came to the realization that the oak and pine trees were going to overwhelm the rain gutters if we did not find a different solution than the standard open gutter. From the time I first met the sales manager until the day she came by to see how the job went and if we were satisfied, it has been a good experience. Communication was excellent. All appointments were kept promptly, the work crew installing the gutter shields were prompt, courteous and careful. We have seen one solid rainfall since their installation and they seem to be doing the job as advertised.

I came across Gutter Helmut at a street faire and scheduled a estimate. I have a older house that's only about 1,100 square feet. The quote seemed very high. I had several quotes from various companies about a year previously. The only one that was even close to being as expensive was GutterMaxx and that was the highest of all my previous quotes. So, I thought it would be prudent to get some new quotes as a current comparison, but I procrastinated. A few weeks later I called Gutter Helmut and explained I misplace the quote, but would like to go forward with the work if they would honor the quote as it was 15% discount for arranging the estimate from the faire. I was told that wouldn't be a problem. After I got the quote, it seemed to be higher than the original... I sat on it for a few days while I tried to find the original. Which I did, and sure enough the new quote did not reflect the discount. I called an mentioned the discrepancy. Kevin explained that the discount was only good for the quote from the faire. After a bit of conversation, he said that he would be willing to meet me half way and give me 7.5% off (about $150) and sent me an email stating the new price would be $1947.42. It didn't come in the form of a quote, only an email. So, I replied "Should I sign the attached pdf showing $2094 and make a notation of the change to $1947.42? Or will this email response serve as accepting the quote? You should have a deposit on my Visa, so I guess the next step would be to schedule the work?" That was the last I heard from Kevin for over 2 weeks at which point I called and left a message that I was eager to get the work done and was expecting Gutter Helmut to schedule a date for the work. A few days later (Thursday Oct. 1.) Kevin responded via email, letting me know the work would be done that Saturday (Oct. 3) and that his excuse for the delay was that he didn't get the contract back from me and he needed my credit card. (Should be noted I had already given him the credit card for a deposit when we worked out the 7.5% discount.) So, now I had to cancel my plans for Saturday. That brings me to now, Saturday afternoon. The workers didn't show. After 3PM I called and left a message with Gutter Helmut. Kevin returned my call and explained that he talked to his installer who had the excuse of a hurt finger and couldn't make it to my house. Kevin also mention that he was with the installer on another project until 1:00PM. I found this odd as my work was to be completed between 12:00 and 3:00. At any rate, nobody thought it important enough to notify me that they were going to be running late or that they actually weren't going to show up at all. I got the feeling that Kevin didn't really want to do the job. Probably, my 1,100 square ft. house wasn't as big of a quote as most the houses he's used to. I see most of the reports on this Angie's list for Gutter Helmut are about twice as much as the quote for my house. After a conversation with Kevin, he suggested that in his opinion after all that has taken place, I'd probably be more comfortable looking to a different company do do the work.

They knew their work and they did a good job. They did come late and had to end up working late but that would be the only complaint. Their prices were a little high however they have a quality product.

Kevin responded quickly and promptly to my request for an estimate. He was professional and helpful in his suggestions. His pricing seemed competitive. However, it would have been at least three weeks before his company could start on our job. I would have considered his company otherwise.

After many unsuccessful attempts to find a gutter service to satisfy my need, a friend advised me to try your list. Bingo! I found exactly what I needed at an affordable price. Exactly what I had in mind, Gutter Helmet product added an attractive finish to the roof line. Work was completed in a professional & timely manner. Kevin Golden, owner of the Santa Clara franchise & his colleague who completed the job delivered more than they had committed to do. My roof was a mess! FOLLOWUP: In addition to our gutter problem, we were having a most annoying noise problem on rainy nights due to rain hitting the end of the downspouts. We tried everything we could to eliminate the noise, including a sponge at the bottom of each downspout. Kevin said he would fix the problem with a compound that works as a sound suppressor. After several fairly heavy rainfalls, I can report almost total elimination of the noise, the work completed at no additional cost. Thank you Kevin & A.L.!
