After years of contemplating and saving, I finally decided to remodel our home located in Santa Clara, CA. I had to have my master bathroom done a specific way, because I've always had a vision of a luxury bathroom. I called Done Right Home Remodeling to see what they had to offer. They gave me a very reasonable estimate with outstanding recommendations. They also answered my all concerns and gave me superb advices. They were very patient with my every request. It was a pleasure working with them. I'd highly recommend them for any remodeling needs because they have what it takes to satisfy their customers. My master bathroom looks beautful. Thanks to DRHR.

I chose Eric and his company after interviewing other places. His enthusiasm, creativity and willingness to listen to my ideas, immediately convinced me that that he was the right fit for the job. Being a turn key operation sealed the deal as I didn’t want the stress of procuring any items on my own or coordinating subcontractors. They did that all for me. Other companies started to making me lose interest in my kitchen but Eric put the enthusiasm back into my remodel. HIs staff was always prompt, polite and started working immediately each day. Their attention to detail and ownership of their work was excellent. I would definitely use Eric and Done Right Home Remodeling again in the near future 😃

Done Right Home Remodeling did a great job renovating one of the bedrooms in my home. They came out and provided a quote the day after I contacted them, and within a week they were at my home doing the work. The quote was reasonable and competitive, the work was done quickly, and the final result was incredible. They put up drywall, a new ceiling, a new window, new doors, painted, put up trim/baseboards, a new fan/light fixture, and sanded/sealed the wood floors all in a week. The workers were very considerate and friendly, they were always on time, and the finished result looks great. Thank a lot.

We sought out Done Right Home Remodeling on a friend’s recommendation. They listened to our needs, responded promptly to our inquiries, and were very open to speaking their mind about our design ideas. Their cost estimates were also reasonable. Once we had a contract and favorable date to start the work David and Yoni helped us resolve the problems that arose along the way. They were friendly, trustworthy, very thorough and competent. Our kitchen remodeling work was started and accomplished on schedule, within budgets and in a high-quality manner. Thanks a lot, guys!!

The team at Done Right Home Remodeling worked tirelessly to ensure my home remodeling project was successfully completed. They exceeded my expectations on all fronts: from the team’s initial vision of how to transform my home to the real execution of the design ideas. Nothing proved too much for them, as they remained more responsive and accommodating. I’m impressed with the quality of their work and how well they understand what they do. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for professional home remodeling services in San Jose.

Done Right Home Remodeling (DRHR) lists 6 qualities of their business on their website. (1) Licensed, Bonded, and Insured, (2) 3D Designers, (3) Fast Completion, (4) Competitive Prices, (5) Dedicated Project Manager, and (6) Quality Work. On my project they failed to measure up in the last 4 of those 6 qualities, and the #2 had no role in my project. About midway through my project I began referring to DRHR as Done (Mostly) Right (Eventually) Home Remodeling. Based on my experience I would discourage my friends from considering them for their project. That said, they have a good rating on Angie’s List and an impressive number of good reviews. Therefore, my experience may not be typical. You must decide for yourself. I intentionally waited nearly a month after project end to write this review. I did so to allow reason to buffer emotion. I also waited to see if the failures in detail remained as apparent to me after time had passed. Understand, it is my goal to be as fair as possible in this review, but any review is based on the reviewer’s perspective and recollection. My project was a limited Master bathroom remodel. Limited because we were keeping our cabinets (vanity base), flooring, and not repainting our walls. The layout was a typical “L” configuration with a long, two-sink vanity, beside which was a tub turned 90 degrees to the vanity and shower stall at the far end of the tub. We only wanted to replace the vanity counter top, replace and move the tub a few inches, replace tub faucet, enlarge the shower stall, and replace the shower faucet. We already had all the finish materials, the tub and shower faucets (We would reuse the sink faucets and purchase the tub and shower hardware to match the sink hardware design.), a new tub, a 6’ x 10’ limestone slab for counter tops, and all the tile for the shower walls and floor, and for the tub back splash. Semi-Failure #1: Competitive Pricing. We were impressed by the representative that came to bid the job and the information he shared on the company. We also trusted the Angie’s List rating and information on their website. This positive impression encouraged to accept their bid even though it was almost 20% higher than the second highest quote. I say “semi-failure”, because we accepted the quote with our eyes wide open but expecting the best work for the money. Failure #2: Dedicated Project Manager. I know project management. I taught it at the college level when I was a Professor and I managed professional, certified project managers for a Fortune 20 company when I worked in industry. I had no illusion that I should NOT expect that level of project management, but we did expect someone to ensure that our project expectations were communicated to workers and to ensure work was done correctly and efficiently. We missed/ignored some early cues. The sales rep did not take written notes when we described in specific detail what we wanted. (Sadly, this was not uncommon. We described this job to at least 5 bidders.) When the rep came to our house for our signature on the contract, he still had not written (or typed) our scope of work. Instead he wrote it by hand and from memory at my dining room table. I made the mistake of assuming certain details not elucidated were understood. For instance, the lead worker was not told by the rep that we were keeping our sink faucets. They were discarded during the demolition and DRHR had to reimburse us $850 for the replacements. At one point we were accused of never telling them this detail. We recall distinctly explaining it to them when we opened boxes showing the rep the new fixtures for the tub and shower that were specifically chosen to match the existing sink fixtures. DRHR failed to tell the subcontractor that applied tar for the shower pan that he needed to protect the walls and floor, because we did not want to paint and the floor was only a couple of years old. We ended up with tar on the walls and the tile floor. The floor cleaned up fine. The wall better than expected, but not enough. Now my wife must identify the colors and recall the process and steps that she went through over 15 years ago to create faux stonework effect on the wall. After I saw the lead worker installed the plywood counter top base to the vanity cabinet in preparation for the new counter top, I reminded him that the inspector ordered us to install an electrical outlet on the far end of the cabinet and the wiring was to be run through the cabinet which was far more accessible when the cabinet had no cover. He removed it to do the work. Perhaps that’s why the change order was nearly $100/foot of wiring. Failure #3: Fast Completion. We signed the contract on August 2, 2018. DRHR estimated 4-5 weeks to complete the job including a buffer for delays from inspections. As it happened, the inspector was always available within a day or two. Nonetheless, they finished 14 weeks later, on November 12, 2018. They never worked more than three days in any week. They almost always arrived later than they said they would. There were several days they did not show up without telling me no one was coming. EXTREMELY unreliable and disrespectful of our time. Failure #4: Quality Work. The limestone fabricator they chose to use was a disaster. Although he pre-measured the location for the limestone, he arrived with only a fraction the pieces and acted surprise that there were more places for counter top. Then he vanished for a few weeks and the work remained unfinished. DRHR said he was on vacation and did not leave a way to get into his shop to get the pieces. The fabricator said he was available but DRHR was behind on paying him for his work, so he was not going out on their jobs until he was made whole. We don’t know who, but someone was lying. The fabricator finally installed the remaining counter tops. The delay in getting this done meant he installed two pieces after the tile work. Normally, a back splash rests on a counter top to better protect against seepage. In our case, the counter top butts up against the tile and is epoxy sealed at the joint to hide the chips and irregularities in the cut which is nearly unavoidable in cutting stone. The one place we wanted a limestone back splash was along the 7 foot, two-sink vanity. Although the job only used 35 square feet of a 60 square foot limestone slab, that back splash came as two pieces with the claim there was not enough material to make it one piece. This was either a lie or a testimony to the fabricator’s incompetence. The fabricator completed his work ending with epoxy residue scattered throughout the counter top. He either did not inspect his work or didn’t care about a crappy job. I asked DRHR to fix this. They sent another contractor that specializes in polishing counter tops. He spent hours scraping the epoxy off and polishing the counter top with marble wax. He also missed several spots that were easily visible in the reflected light. This experience with two subs begs the question, what does DRHR do to vet their sub-contractors before they higher them? By this time our dissatisfaction with their work, the delays, and the poor communication were abundantly clear to DRHR. They agreed to let us hire our own re-finisher (We had lost all confidence in their choices.) and to let us deduct an agreed amount from my due bill. I asked them to put it in writing as a change order to keep the records straight. When the agreement arrived for my signature, I saw what may have been the most disappointing detail of the whole experience. It included a clause requiring our silence. We were not post any comments about this job on social media sites, the BBB, or similar outlets. After a heated conversation on the phone this clause was removed. There were other, avoidable quality issues that we live with and some I fixed myself. The one that remain are only noticeable if one is looking and measuring with great care. To end on a better note… DRHR does work hard to make it right in the end. That is a valuable quality. I do not believe all the mishaps on this project were entirely controllable by DRHR. Some sub-contractors failed them in unpredictable ways. Though some discussions were heated (probably more the fault of my passionate self than DRHR) the owner always worked to reach agreement and never once hesitated to own financial responsibilities that were clearly his to own. To some extent I put more stock in how a business addresses mistakes than I do in whether they make them or not. I am comfortable in saying that DRHR worked to meet our expectations, not with the sense of urgency I wanted, but they did not stop working to make it right.

Basically, this was a "Bait and Switch". On Angie's List, an offer was given for a consultation, including 3D Renderings, for $19.00. A very generous offer that coincided with a kitchen remodel we are planning. I signed up for the offer, made an appointment for the consultation, and showed the kitchen to the building consultant for Done Right Home Remodeling. From the initial phone contact from Done Right to the consultation, no one seemed to know about their offer on Angie's List even though I told them about it and gave the redemption code, and showed a printed copy of the offer. When we met with the Done Right building consultant, the discussion was almost completely about what he couldn't do or why he couldn't give an estimated price for our kitchen remodel, which included opening a wall in the kitchen. The entire consultation was so negative we had the feeling that Done Right had already decided they did not want to do the job before the consultant even came to the house. When I showed the consultant the printed copy of the "Consultation with 3D Renderings" offer, he called Done Right and then told us that they did not make that deal, but it must have been an error made by Angie's List. The consultant refused to honor their offer given on Angie's List. Definitely a "Bait and Switch".

Jerry was our project manager and promised us our remodeled handicap-accessible bathroom would be done in two to three weeks, and it was. His crew worked their magic professionally and neatly. Everything was done exactly as we specified. After each workday, all their tools were put away and our house was back in order. This remodel was the least inconvenient as it possibly could be. We would highly recommend this crew and definitely call them back for any future remodeling.

The contractor's representative, "Jerry", did not itemize any of the work to be done so there was no way to know what we were being charged for. My wife had given him her budget and he told what he could do for that price. I asked about the permit for electrical and he said none was needed. I showed him exactly why we needed new electrical with the kitchen and a new sub panel. He gave me a price and after writing it up told me the permit would be extra. Again, nothing itemized even when I asked for it. I asked what the price would be for new cabinets. He asked how much equity we had in our house. Stupid me, I thought he wanted to run a credit check. No. He wanted to talk us into taking out $55k in a loan to buy new cabinets. My wife told him no then he whispered to me that I should talk her into it because it would look so much nicer. That's worse than sleezy. From that point on, I wanted nothing to with him. This was my wife's project so I only got involved with the electrical. She was happy with his offer so we kept the contract. We asked how long to finish the project. Jerry told us it should only take 2 weeks. It took over a month. We had no use of the kitchen for that month +. There were a couple of times Jerry told us a crew would be out to work and no one would show up. He said they were diverted to other jobs. Our contract, contrary to what Jerry told us about finishing in two weeks, said they would finish by December 15. Work started the first week of November and finished the first full week of December. We are both happy with our kitchen and how it turned out. I've dealt with many contractors and never had dealings that were this bad. The contract was not written in a professional manner, Jerry stated he was an electrical contractor yet made several mistakes when saying what would be required and trying to pit a husband and wife against each other was inexcusable. And didn't work. The workmen did a very good when they were there. It probably was only about two weeks worth of work.
Description of Work: Cabinet refacing and shelves fixed. 3 new cabinets, new kitchen sink, replace tile counters install new granite counters, replace flourescent lighting with recessed LEDs and upgrading electrical for kitchen and utility room to current standards. While there were a number of areas where Done Right Home Remodelling (Jonathan) did a very good job, there were two areas in particular where the job was not professionally done: (1) The hardwood floor installation was the biggest complaint, as the job was poorly done. Essentially, the company hired someone who did not know what they were doing and who stained the floored in a circular, uneven, and rough way and left the stain in that fashion to permeate the wood. This resulted in splotchy, rough looking flooring. In addition, the stain was splashed in a few areas on the baseboard without being cleaned up. Upon pointing this out, the company (Jonathan) did come out and clean up the baseboard and tried to clean up the flooring. However, it had permeated the wood and was not able to be removed completely. So the resulting look if very unprofessional looking. When I pointed it out, I was told that this was the best job the company could do. I felt that this was very unprofessional. (2) In installing the new shower pan in the master bath, I was given two options -- go with a premade mold or float the shower pan. I was told that the former would have taken a couple of extra weeks because the shower area is custom. So I went with floating the shower pan. However, due to this, the shower pan was raised an additional inch from the original, and accordingly the floor to ceiling glass panels no longer fit and had to be removed and reordered (an additional $500). The fact that floating the shower pan would cause the glass panels to no longer fit should have been anticipated and raised to me when I was first making the decision whether to float the shower pan. However, the company (Jonathan) did not think of this and should have. Other than the two problems above, Done Right did a respectable job and I am happy with the master bath and the rebuilt shower. However, the hardwood floor incident completely spoiled the overall job and professionalism of this company, and I would not hire them again.
Description of Work: We needed to have our master bath repaired after getting mold damage and having the shower area removed to have the mold treated. The job involved removing the tile and drywall in the master shower area, installing hardibacker and new drywall installing a new shower pan, retiling the shower area and also the area around the shower, repairing the adjoining wall behind the shower, and also installing hardwood flooring in the adjoining bedroom that had been removed to allow for the mold to be treated.

We liked the way how working people presented themselves to us; was very professional. – They make the best of their ability to build & remodel our kitchen and bathroom successfully. I was so happy with the work of Done Right Remodeling Team did for me. They just did a very good work and they really knew exactly what they’re doing. Their price was very competitive than other contractors that I dealt with. Workmanship is excellent and I am very pleased with the final outcome. Beautiful & Sturdy Kitchen. Completely Satisfied.

It’s hard to find a good contractor that will work for your kitchen. I’m glad that friend of mine recommends Done Right Home Remodeling. They were very professional and knowledgeable on planning and creating great ideas for your kitchen, they also assisted me in selecting materials. The crew did the actual work was very respectful and my kitchen turned out great. So impressed with the final product. They used high-end quality materials for our complete satisfaction. We love our kitchen so much, and we will look forward working to our bathroom next. Definitely hire them again and would recommend.
