De Anza Appliance showed themselves to be a professional organization concerned about their customers and their needs. They worked in order to insure that they were able to fit us into the schedule prior to the holiday season (Christmas). The office personnel were responsive, courteous and understood the business. They were able to work with Electrolux to insure that we were promptly taken through the process so that an appointment could be booked as early as possible. The field personnel (technicians) are knowledgeable, courteous as well and able to diagnose and effect a repair in a very expeditious and rapid manner. They were able to understand what needed to be done and conduct the repair within 20-30 minutes. I highly recommend De Anza Appliance and will be using them as a our appliance service provider of choice.

Carol, Thanks for using us for service and we're blessed to have Peter on staff to handle Thermador repairs. You're always welcome to request him and if his schedule lines up with yours we can get him out for future repairs. Hope that the KitchenAid Refrigerator he worked on is cooling properly. Make sure, if accessible to pull it out every spring to give the interior coils a brush and vacuum; if they aren't we can get Peter back out there to take care of that for you. --My large upright freezer was not keeping foods cold and was running 24 hours a day. The service technician was polite and professional and seemed to check the inner working of the freezer. He replaced the front electric control, which obviously was not the problem,. since the same problem occurred the next day and has continued since then. When I contacted DeAnza Apprliance again, he said that there would be no further trip charge, but I would have to pay for any further service and parts. . And the charge that really angered me was a trip charge of $80. This store is 4.3 miles from my home! That's over $9 a mile! I will not use this company again.

[name removed], Thanks you for the review of our Service Manager, Roger and our new maintenance program. It's a new offering recommended to homeowners and property managers for about the last year. The average life span of most major appliances run between 12-18 years and with regular cleaning and tune-up you can expect a 15-25 years window of useful life. Just like with a well maintained car you can expect a lot more mileage out of a well appliances. We would recommend a whole house tune-up about every 5 years with taking care of the refrigerator annually and dryer annually if it's inside the house. The latter two help cut on energy bills if their performance is lagging and in the dryer's case can help avoid fire hazards. Here's to at least another decade with your appliances!

The labor charges were excessive for less than approximately 5 minutes of installation. I felt ripped off when I had time to review the charges. I can live the the overpriced replacement part but I cannot for the life of me understand how 5 minutes of work costs $189.95. I would NOT RECOMMEND DE ANZA APPLIANCE as the work in relation to the price of labor was not representative of any value whatsoever. The overreaching greed of this company was quite evident along with a complete disregard of fairness for the service provided. If you are thinking about hiring this company, think twice, do a little research and install it yourself or locate some talented handyman to accomplish the task. I strongly believe the most ethical to have done is charge a rate according to the services hourly rate and break it down to the actual time it took to do the job. The service technician installed the $149.95 timer in 5 minutes. I was charged a $99.95 trip charge & an additional $90.00 for labor. Total labor listed on the final bill was $$189.95. The state tax was $13.12 for a grand total of $353.02 I most definitely would not use their service again.

[member name removed], Thanks for bringing some of your concerns to attention. We do our best to provide transparency of our services whenever possible. On 2/11/115 you called in to schedule service for your washer and on the phone a timer was diagnosed as the most likely failure and based on age and condition of the washer recommended your fill hoses be replaced. You were quoted a Saturday house call of $99.95, labor of $90-$120, timer at $149.95 + tax, and fill hoses at $12.95 + tax each. At the point of service the washer was identified as a great workhorse, one of the last of it's kind in the Maytag family and suggested repairing in light of a higher projected cost. The total estimate range ran between between $380 and $420 based on the initial conversation. You agreed to schedule service. Our dispatcher and parts manager took the time on the phone to identify your problem and arm your technician with the correct parts to fix on the first trip (many other appliance repair companies would take two trips to complete this repair). On 2/14/15 your technician came to the home, spent 30 minutes assessing the issue, presenting an estimate of $353.02, and replaced the timer. You had opted not to replace the fill hoses recommended; and your total bill came in about $30 under the initial low end of the quotation on the phone.. We understand we're not the least expensive appliance repair company in the area (we also aren't the most expensive folks either), but can provide timely service, flexible appointments including weekends, research before you get to the home, experienced office staff to give repair vs. replace recommendations over the phone, and factory trained technicians to provide professional in-home service. All these key factors lead to the shortest down-time on most appliance repair situations. If you feel like there's a discrepancy between the price you paid and value you received please reach out to our office and ask for our Marketing Manager Chris to go over the invoice and repair in more detail. Cheers, Chris Boucher Marketing Manager De Anza Appliance

Peter found popcorn kernels in the drain pipe, which had prevented the dishwasher from draining properly. He also gave me advice about periodic cleaning and the water temperature. He was knowledgeable, enthusiastic and helpful. I want to add that my conversation on the telephone when I first called De Anza Appliance was unusually good. One of the burners on my gas cooktop did not ignite. De Anza sent a technician named Chris to diagnose the problem. He turned the knob once or twice and announced that the solenoid valve did not work. He never opened the cooktop or used any instrument. He said he could tell just by hearing. He said he would order a new solenoid valve and have it fixed as soon as the part arrived. I waited more than 3 weeks, and De Anza never got the replacement solenoid valve. I had to call them several times to inquire about the status, but they never got the part. Finally after more than 3 weeks I told them to cancel the repair. Then I asked RO Appliance repair to visit the house and diagnose the problem. Their technician took the top off the cooktop and did careful troubleshooting with instruments. The RO technician said the problem was the potentiometer. RO came back within days, replaced the potentiometer. Now the cooktop works fine. In summary, De Anza made no effort to diagnose the problem. Their diagnosis was totally wrong. I had to wait a long time for the (wrong) part. I had to constantly enquire about the status. They billed me $80 even though they were totally wrong. I see that De Anza has good ratings on Angies List, but I honestly don't know why. There are other highly rated appliance repair contractors like RO. Stay away from De Anza.

From the first call to the presentation of the bill, this request for service was handled with skill and professionalism. - The initial call for an appointment was well handled and responsive, an actual exchange with a real person (vs one of those scripts where the service rep repeats your name over and over in every sentence, and can only recognize what you say if it fits their checklist). The appointment was easily and promptly set. - I was quickly working with Eric, the service technician, who arrived precisely on time, swiftly located the source of the problem, and was both knowledgeable and very courteous. A part needed to be ordered, and a convenient date was set for the actual repair. Again, Eric arrived on time, quickly made the repair, and the washer has been working perfectly ever since. - At the end of the appointment, I also sought and received some much-needed advice regarding other appliance issues we currently have - much needed because we have formerly been lifetime Sears customers for both purchases and repairs, but have severed that relationship because of atrocious customer service, and need to turn elsewhere.- - At the conclusion of the transaction, the price for the repair and part was surprisingly low! In addition to this being a successful service call, three good things for the future: 1) I will certainly call on DeAnza Appliance for all future appliance repair needs 2) I will unhesitatingly recommend the firm to others with appliance repair needs 3) I am building some real confidence in Angie's List as a result of this and several prior referrals for various types of home improvement and repair issues. Interestingly, I first called Ace Appliance (also off Angie's List) for this service need, and they expressed concern, having staff currently on vacation, that they could not help me quickly enough. Showing real class, they suggested I try De Anza, another top-of-the-list firm; this is a perfect example of the best in old-fashioned real customer service, and if it's an example of what gets a firm to the top of Angie's List, it's a real confidence builder.

I called and didn't know how old the unit was but gave the dispatcher the model # from the inside of the refrig. so he could have the correct parts on the truck when they came. The repairman was prompt and knowledgeable and said it would be expensive since each repair involved replacing a solenoid. I opted not have the ice crusher fixed which would have been $79 more. I wanted it repaired because new refrig./freezers are about $2100. He fixed both but said that the water line was frozen up and the only way to get that going was to defrost the refrig because if he put heat on the line it would melt the tubing. So for $580 I have a working ice maker and whenever I get to defrost the refrig for two days I will have water out the door too. It was $217 for parts, $80 for trip charge, $275 for the short time he was here, $19 for tax, and $9 for a senior discount. I like everything except the price, but I don't know what another repair place would have cost. $80 to travel from Cupertino to Mountain View ( possibly 3 miles) seems a bit steep.
Description of Work: I have a side by side refrig / freezer and the water had stopped dispensing out the door, the icemaker didn't make ice and the crushed ice didn't work either.

I was told about the $80 service call when making the appointment. My experience with other service providers is that the service call charge is essentially a down payment on the repair. Not so with these guys. The quote he wrote up was $339. Let's break it down: $80 for showing up, $129 for the 15 minute repair, and $130 for the part. Fortunately, I had purchased a replacement part online for $24. Do the math and you can figure out how much of a markup they're charging. Is it the same OEM part? Probably not, but he said it would work just fine, and it has. So even though I saved myself $100 by buying the part online, I still feel ripped off by the service charge. I feel badly for anyone else who uses this company and has no clue how much of a markup they charge on their parts. Look for another provider and ask if the service charge will be credited against the repair.

The dryer wasn't working so I called De Anza appliance to make an appointment. They responded immediately and came the next day. We used a neighbor's fridge. Shut down ours and a day later we plugged it back in. Cleaned it from top to bottom. And it has dispensed water ever since. We were on vacation this summer and the fridge was not used for a month, but it did not freeze. Eighty bucks was a cheap price to pay for the education.

Firstly, they (Peter M and Eric, from De Anza Appliance) were able to come on the same day I called them, which is very nice, as I was getting concerned about my refrigerator not being cold enough, and the food in there going bad. They came very promptly within the first hour of the window of 4 hour period that they said they were going to come. The best part is within 20 minutes or so, Peter has figured out what is wrong with my refrigerator, given me a very reasonable estimate for the job, and proceeded to fix it and also explained to me what was the cause of the problem (unshut door) so that this same problem would not occur again in the future. Lastly, they also gave me a written 90 day warranty on their work. I would summarize with - Excellent Work, Excellent People! Thank you!
