I tried this vendor for the first time to fix my broken spring. They live to their excellent standard by their good review. The technician showed up within two hour window as promised, replaced the spring, whola, my garage door comes to alive again. He even replaced my broken light bulb at my request. I will recommend them to every friend, unless you want to impress your in-law by DYI

I called in not knowing exactly what we needed, and Mariana was very helpful in presenting us with door options/finishes/etc. She is very professional, responsive and courteous. I am very impressed by the response time and service provided by this company. Adonias did a great job getting the doors in. He is very respectful, did clean work and had a great attention to detail. Both of our doors were completed without any issues - and now we have beautiful new garage doors! I would highly recommend this company for your future garage door needs.

+ -1 moreWe waited for the technician but he was a no show. We were later told that the technician showed up and supposedly waited 15 minutes in front of the house yet failed during this fabricated wait time to come to the door and ring the door bell or knock on the door. The technician supposedly left to attend other service calls and just missed us. How could this be when we were home all morning and heard no knock, door bell or phone call. The company's responsiveness was very poor as well as their customer service office representative who left a message much later than the arrival schedule time of the technician stating that the technician waited but since we were not at home he had to leave to go to his next service call. There apparently are no other local company vendors in our immediate area with a supply of that particular garage door part that we need to fix the malfunction of our garage door and then we were told that the part needed had to be ordered and we would have another delay in getting this door put back in working order. The bottom line and much to our frustration we are left with trying to toll through this whole process with this local vendor or look to buy a new garage door. This last alternative is less desirable because of the monetary difference involved in repair versus replacement of the garage door. We will never use them again nor would we recommend them to anyone. Our choice is to replace the garage door with another vendor rather than use this vendor. l
Description of Work: Since they installed our overhead garage door, I wanted to use them to repair the broken sensor that causes the door to stop closing if the beam is broken.

+ -1 moreThey did a great job. While I was at their shop, I noticed a garage door style that I especially liked the way it worked, I asked them about it and we made a deal for them to come out a couple of weeks later and do that. The service was just fine.

It happened on a Saturday: a day where they don't work. So, we had to call someone else, since my husband's car was stuck inside the garage.

The telephone operator was polite and professional and gave us an estimate for the service over the phone. She set us up with an appointment for the next day. The repairman showed up within the time frame we were given. He was professional and friendly and demonstrated a firm knowledge of the skills necessary to complete the repair. The bill for the repair was the same as we were given by the phone operator. We are very satisfied with the service.

+ -1 moreWent horrible...I canceled my appointment because of the rude and horrible customer phone service. I never want to speak to them again.
Description of Work: I had an emergency ... someone ran into my garage door trapping one of our main cars inside. I called in to schedule an appointment because they were the ones who initially installed my door and I wasn't sure I could just call up anyone to come look at my door sense it's a special door. I was initially frustrated because they said their first available appointment was 10 days out. I talked it over with my wife and we said fine we would just deal with one car. Again we felt we needed to stick with this company sense they installed the door. So I call in a day before my appointment and they tell me I only have a estimation call and that no one will be able to help me get my door open. I ask the receptionist if I can talk to Paul the person who was coming out, I told him I've been already waiting 10 days and asked if he could at least help me get my door open so I can get my other car out. I have no idea what happened next but we somehow get into a screaming match about why he felt the need to defend himself about how long I've been waiting. I told him it's already been 10 days and I am fine with the wait I just want to make sure someone can help me get my door open. He continues to defend why it's taken 10 days, I continue to say I don't care can u please just help me get my door open ..and that's how it ended going in circles about why he felt the need to defend himself. It was very clear what I needed when I called in and I was aware that parts were going to need to be ordered etc...but what I did not appreciate was the lack of customer service and the need to yell over the phone about why it took them 10 days to tell me that I only had a damages estimation and not a service call. Long story short I got on Angie's list found another provider the same day they came out the next day and got my garge door opened ordered the parts and there was no hassle. The phone conversation took all of 10min. Maybe Paul was having a bad day but where I come from the customer is always right (most of the time) and especially when you have already been waiting 10 days. If it were my company and a customer (previous customer) had told me they had been waiting 10 days I would have said oh my let's see what we can do, no problem etc.. anything but, I would never start screaming at them..what a jerk! If you have another option go with the other Option I will never use Bay Area Overhead Doors Again...or if you use them don't ask them any questions just yes mam and yes sir is all they want to hear. Grade F all across the board...don't waist your time.

+ -1 moreWe had a very old (about 50 years old) wooden garage door that had been patched during a previous paint job and was now peeling. I was about to scrape, patch, and repaint the door; however, my wife convinced me to just replace it. We began looking at doors at Home Depot and on the internet. We also noted that Costco sold them. We also visited a couple of local firms that had showrooms to view doors and garage door openers and to determine what we wanted. After all the information gathering, I began to get pricing information. Home Depot wanted to charge for someone to come out and give us an estimate. I refused that offer but did get an estimated price from them. We had the people sent out by Costco, and 2 local providers come out to give us estimates. All three quoted the same door and type of garage door opener. Bay Area Overhead Door gave us the most competitive pricing. The information on Angie's list did not help much as most contacts were for repairs, not new installations. We went with Bay Area Overhead Door and the installation occurred about 10 days after I signed the contract. It went fine with one workman taking 6 hours to remove the old door, tracks, and opener and install the new one.
Description of Work: Bay Area Overhead Door replaced our old garage door and garage door opener. I had looked at doors at one of the large hardware stores and obtained an approximate price, looked on-line, and visited 2 local providers that had showrooms. We requested bids from a membership store, and two local providers. Bay Area Overhead Door gave us the least inexpensive quotation (on the exact same door, same manufacturer) and garage door opener. I signed the contract and scheduled the installation for about 10 days out. The morning of the installation, a small pick-up truck pulled into our driveway with 4 panels on top, metal parts sticking out of the bed of the truck, and one workman. He proceeded to dismantle our old door, the tracks, and our old garage door opener and installed the new door and garage door opener in six hours. It is now 2 weeks later, and everything seems to be working fine.

+ -1 moreWe were told over the phone it would be $75 for the service call. When the Bay Area Overhead Door guy arrived, he said his office required him to charge $150 because it was a 2 hour job. He said that if he removed our garage door completely, which is what we requested, it would be $300. I was only told about the $75 when I made the appointment. We decided to pay Bay Area Overhead Door just the $75 for the service appointment and we had another contractor complete the work who was much easier to work with.
Description of Work: Bay Area Overhead Door installed our garage door a couple of years ago. We needed to do some maintenance on our garage, which required removing the garage door. They gave me a 1 hour window of time in which they would arrive, and he arrived at the start of the hour. He was on his phone over and over again with the office. From the time he arrived he was anxious to leave to get to other scheduled jobs he had in a distant part of the Bay Area.

+ -1 moreI was not impressed with this company at all. They failed to complete the first drawn out agreement as it was that we needed a clearance of 6'4 and they had only made it 6'2. My husband is 6'3 and he ended up hitting his head on the door. I did call them and they just told me to have him bend his head down. I did threaten to cancel the credit card payment so they did come back out and made the clearance 6'4.
