American Vision Windows

My overall experience with American Vision Windows was a positive one. The salesperson who met with me was knowledgeable and was willing to work with me on price after I informed him that other quotes I had gotten for similar windows were roughly $2000 less than his initial quote. I was even able to take advantage of a 0% for 1 year financing deal for a portion of the invoice. The associate who came to do the remeasure so that the order could be placed to Anlin was also knowledgeable and professional. He went over the whole process in great detail. The only slight hiccup came in scheduling the installation. I was able to confirm that my windows had arrived by Dec 18th (Wednesday) but did not recieve a call to schedule installation until late the following week. Granted, Christmas was right during that time period and under normal circumstances I wouldn't have been so antsy to get the installation scheduled, but a tax credit was expiring and to qualify for it, the installation had to be completed by the turn of the year. Luckily they could do the installation on the 31st, so it didn't end up being an issue. The installation crew was prompt and courteous, not to mention quick. All 11 windows and the sliding door were in by about 2pm that day. As this is really the first day I've had the windows, I can't comment too much on how well they work, but I can say they look far better than the old aluminum framed windows they replaced on my 50 year old home.

I didn't end up doing any work. I decided to get an estimate from them because I think that they were well worth to use when I was just looking at different companies.

We actually had several problems with the installers, but the windows themselves are great. The project was completed over the course of 2-3 weeks. It was a very large job and when they finally scheduled it, the scheduler put them on for one day. It took them about 3-4 days. The night of the first day, they left some windows leaning up against the house. One of those fell down in the wind and broke. That pushed the project back significantly because they had to reorder the product. They were not good with clean up. They left garbage all over our yard and my husband had to ask them to go clean it up. The second team of installers who came out to remedy the situation were significantly better. The company itself was pretty good, but the subcontractor and the scheduling were the main problems.

Two out of three of the sliders were done incorrectly. It was put in backwards such that when you opened it to go outside there was a staircase there, but the staircase was on the other side which means if anyone went out the door they would fall 3 feet. They came out to fix the door, but it was upside down then. He said it was “made to be upside down”, but that is not the way it goes so they came back a third time. They took that one out and put a correct one in. One window was done incorrectly. It was supposed to be a facey plate, but it had regular glass. They installed the wrong product so they had to reorder that, but the one they re-ordered was double pane, not triple pan. They installed the double pane and I noticed the mistake and pointed it out. They had to order and reinstall again. The remedy for the window equaled two additional visits and on one of the sliders it two visits. One of the sliders took 8 weeks to get fixed! This slider was the wrong size, but they installed it anyways. They couldn’t trim it out because it was too wide and they left it like that. There was also a problem getting new trim as well. I had to continuously watch over the project and each time I had to be there for a window of time during the day. It was a HUGE inconvenience because I had to take off work. This all started the last week of May and didn’t get all fixed until the end of August. Everything has been remedied now. The price was fair, but not for the inconvenience of the install.

I was able to get a better deal, but I would consult with American again.

The project manager assisted in narrowing down choices by what our ultimate goal was. Jason was thorough in his explanation of the product and in demonstrations. We were told to prepare for three days for installation. Installation was in fact three days. The crew was on time each day, courteous, and cleaned the work areas upon completion.

First I went to the Santa Clara, CA showroom and was very impressed with the windows and sliding doors. I talked to Mr. Pope, who was very personable. I scheduled an appointment to get an estimate. The representative was here exactly at the time scheduled, and spent 2-1/2 hours checking my windows, reviewing all the options, and giving me a final estimate. I accepted the estimate, and American Windows immediately scheduled an appointment to measure all the windows. He was also here exactly as scheduled. I was given a 4-6 week timeframe for the windows to be made. They were actually ready in about 3 weeks, and a date was scheduled for installation. The Installers were here, again exactly on time, and did an excellent job. I am very pleased with my choice of American Vision Windows, and highly recommend them to anyone looking for the best!

Peter, the sales rep was prompt. His explanation and demo of the product was good. He took window measurements. I wanted to rush the job and the company guaranteed it for an extra cost. Then the measurer came a couple of days later and carefully remeasured again (some of my windows were unusual shape). The installation crew showed up on time , were neat and cleaned up and left my windows sparkling clean. The installation was completed within my time frame. American Vision Windows gives a lifetime guarantee against glass breakage. Everything went well. I would refer my friends and relatives to them anytime.

Work was good. They were pricey. The customer service has been bad. I spent 3 grand on 3 windows. Once of the windows had a stress fracture, it was obviously a defective window. They were supposed to call back to get it fixed and it took over a week and I had to call them. I had a lifetime, transferable warranty on materials, labor, and installation, hand written by the sales person. They tried to charge me for the replacement of the defective window. It was a great effort to initiate compliance with the lifetime guarantee.

When the new kitchen went in with the granite it left some ugly gaps around the windows. Put in a service request and they came out and re-trimmed and caulked the windows. Looks like they were just installed.

My house was built in 67' and the windows had never been replaced. They did a great job. My utility bills are down. There is no draft, now. It looks like I'm walking into different rooms.

The guy who came out was very good and provided me with an estimate. I did a research on the manufacturer they were using at that time. I choose to use a different company's product to install the solar panels in my roof. The guy came out, we went outside and he took a look at the roof. We discussed basically what panels would need to go. We talked about the process and panels but because of trees in my yard I'm limited to really high efficient panels. Although I have a large roof area most of it is in the shade and there is only a relatively small area that you can actually put solar panels on my roof. The guy was great and their quote was great but the manufacture the company was using at that time was not efficient enough to provide enough power with the service area they had to work with. He was punctual and looked into things. He got information and followed up which was all great. What stopped me was the manufacturer of the actual panel they installed. I would definitely use them again but not for solar panels.

If you want an excellent company...then call these people. We did our shopping at Lowes and Home Depot. I am so glad we went with American Vision. My husband and I needed to do major repairs to our home and their sales people understood our concerns about budgeting the funds and our time line. They put our needs first. During the remodeling my mother was diagnosed with cancer and we really were at our wits end. The sales people were awesome! They were so patient and answered all our questions. They kept appointments and scheduled to meet our hectic life - while dealing with all the doctors apts. My windows look so amazing - that I don't even want to put my drapes back. In fact I am thinking of having them come back and install either the blinds or shutters that will be a perfect fit to my windows. I cant decide yet. The crew was very clean and made sure to explain everything to me. They were very professional and made me feel at ease. We had such a good experience with them that we also had them do our garage door and put a beautiful front door in too. We are very happy customers!!!

1. Order placed and contract initialed during period when firm was advertising no payment of sales tax; yet, sales tax of $79.00 was billed. 2. Initial contact was on 06/29/11; measurements taken 06/30/11; did not hear from firm for 2 1/2 months; when I contacted firm I learned that they had erroneously recorded my telephone number; installation eventually completed on 09/12/11 3) installers left a large post-it description of properties of new windows stuck to the wallpaper in kitchen.

They got the products I wanted. They were installed quickly. The windows are great.

The initial selling point was the triple pane windows of high quality and a very experienced and professional crew. The install started on the date agreed to and took a full two days to complete. They came out twice to measure the windows. We had scheduled exterior painting to begin the week after the window replacement was to finish. The crew was nice but was not the professional group that was promised. Before the final interior framing went in, I noticed that some of the screws holding the new window frames in place had missed the house window frame. Some of the interior framing was not straight which was fixed when it was pointed out. They also ordered the wrong size kitchen garden window so this could not be done at the same time. It would have to be re-ordered which would take approximately 4 weeks to arrive. In the mean time, the exterior house painting went forward. I had to call them to check on the status of this window after 5ish weeks. We made an appointment, I took the day off and no one showed up. I had to call and arrange another date. The garden window was also not an exact size replacement so a lot of exterior construction had to be done which took a full 9 -10 hour day as they did not bring a big enough crew to do the install. After this, I had to repaint the area around the new stucco. They also managed to break one of the exterior lamps. They went out to buy a replacement but it did not fit. I still have to go out and find a new exterior lamp. During the main install, the crew must have broken an old window on the driveway which left broken glass all over. I had to clean this up. There were places on the exterior of the house where the sliding glass doors were replaced where they forgot to fix/replace the exterior stucco they had broken to do the install. I had to fix this. In the back of the house, they stepped or dropped something through one of the deck planks. They did not tell us this had happened. We found out when we went outside that evening after dark. We called and they came out and repaired the plank the next day. They also forgot to bring a couple of the sliding door screens which they delivered a couple of weeks later. The sad part there was that they had to borrow my tools to install them as they did not bring any. Again, the people were nice but not the professional experience I was sold. The company gave us a credit of $300 for all of the problems they created and missed appointment and delay in completing the job. The windows are ok but if I had understood the difference between replacement and retrofit, I would have gone with replacement. The difference is with retrofit, they leave the old window frames in and fit the new windows inside that. What they fail to point out is that this leaves several inches of frame inside the window cutout and you lose a couple of inches of actual window all around the opening. Hopefully the windows will last.

They were high in price. I had four bids and I took the one that I was most comfortable with. On a scale of 1 to 10, knowledge wise or product knowledge they were at 7 according to me. They were very personable, friendly and prompt. They were very punctual and they came on time with their appointment.

They are a good company. I don?t have any complaints.

They were very nice and very helpful. They took the time to explain the different options. We went to their show rooms and saw the different options. It was very nice.

Great job, on time, fair price, great products. Would highly recommend this company and the installers. They were on time and finished an 8 hour job 10 minutes earlier than planned. The windows look great and the temperature in the house has dropped dramatically. Previously could not get the temperature in the house under 80 when it was over 100 outside. Now it stays 73 degrees all the time.

They're good, as they did an excellent job. They did the estimate and everything was on time. The team was excellent and did a great job with installation and cleanup. I have no complaints at all.

They did some high-quality work. They showed up on time. The prices were average. I didn't get any more quotes than the one estimate. The windows are working fine for me.

The installation took one day, and went fairly well. Their vacuum cleaner was poor (lost their normal one off the truck), so i vacuumed after they removed the old windows. They could have used much more sealant between the new windows and old aluminum frames. They had to work around interior shutters and had to remove a number of blinds; I had to hire an installer to reinstall the blinds. They were careful to cover everything, and cleaned up quite well after the job was finished. They had to remove some external rock around the kitchen windows, and left a large internal void after covering the area with vinyl strips - not good, as I will need to get someone to blow in insulation. The result looks good, both inside and out, and I am relatively happy with the job. The coated glass noticeably darkens the interior of the house, so we have to use the lights more.

The workers arrived on time, put down protective coverings on all floors and surfaces near the slider. Furniture was moved out of the way, and put back when they were done. They worked very professionally. All of the installers work for American Vision Windows and are highly skilled. They don't contract out their installers. The team was friendly, and answered all my questions during installation. I am extremely happy with their work. I went with the higher end door, and it was worth every penny. With my old aluminum door, you could feel the cold coming in from 10 feet away. With the new door, I can stand right next to it and not feel any cold coming in. The noise reduction is also fantastic, and the door looks amazing. The company also adds moulding -at no charge- around the new door, which makes it look that much better and makes it stand out as a focal point in the room.
