Repairs to windows that leak during rain storms....we can't make the determination because it could be a flashing problem, a roofing problem an eve problem, etc.. auto glass.
The team showed up right on time and finished so quickly. They made sure we were happy with the work before they left, and Eric followed up to make sure that we were happy with the work done, which of course we were. And when the team left, there was no extra mess for me to clean up. We can already tell the difference our new windows make as the house is much better insulated. Good price for the work, great service. I would HIGHLY recommend Able glass - the team was right on time, very courteous and the work was stellar.
Description of Work: We had all our front windows replaced and earlier this year our front door replaced. We had an exterior shelf under a window that I wanted removed, and the removed it and the repair work was exceptional.

The visit to provide estimate was quickly set up and the estimator was on time. He explained a couple of options and the costs. We accepted the estimate and they were able to get the custom panes and install them within about a week. Excellent phone updates from their office throughout the process. Very pleased with the outcome.

These 3 windows started to fog up last year between the panes of glass, at first for just a few hours a day, but for the last few months they were fogged up all day long. I called Able up to get an estimate. Ron came out and arrived within 15 minutes of the scheduled arrival window. He measured the glass dimensions of the fogged, and fixed (no cost) a vertical sliding window that had fallen off it spring-assist mechanism in the tracks. Immediately after getting an estimate, I provided a 10% off coupon from Angie's List, but he said it could not accept it, since it needed to be supplied before the quote was given. (The coupon said it needed to be supplied "at" the time of estimate.) I concluded the coupon is a sham; i.e. if I had supplied it before the quote was given, the price would have just been increased by 10% first. Anyway, the quote was within the range I was expecting to pay, and I didn't want to take more time off to get more quotes, so I accepted the quote. Next time, I'll probably just schedule several companies to come out an hour apart to provide quotes. The following week, the windows arrived. Able was perhaps too quick to install them, as they scheduled the installation appointment for a Monday morning, by leaving a message on my home phone machine Friday afternoon. (I'm still scratching my head as to how they got my home phone number, since I really only ever give out my cell.) I was not available Monday morning to be home for the install, so I called Monday morning to reschedule...easy, but the install crew lost an hour. The following Wednesday the installers came, again within 15 minutes of their scheduled arrival time. It took a total of 2:40 hours to install the 3 IGUs. One of the windows (72"x46" ) they used a 16' ladder, and one of the guys was crazy to stand up on the second to last rung to help support the old and new IGUas the 2 other guys moved them into and out of the house. The 2nd window was huge (72"x72"), and the 3 of them could barely lift it...they said it probably weighed 300 pounds. They setup a scaffold to have better access to the outside of this window. The 3rd window was small and easy to replace. The new windows look great now. However, I am concerned that they may fail again (as the original IGUs were only 12 years old), but Ron assures me they have a 10 year warranty (material only, not labor), but he could not provide any documentation of the warranty...only a small hand written note on the invoice. I would expect a formal written warranty.
Description of Work: Replace 3 IGU (insulated glass units, aka dual-pain window glass) that had fogged up. Two of the IGUs were large, and one was smal; they were all on the 2nd floor of the house: 72" x 72" 72" x 46" 30" x 35"

We wanted to compare costs from multiple door vendors. We started getting an estimate from Able Glass, but after we had asked if they could match or beat the costs we got from another company, they never responded. It wouldn't have been too bad if they had said no, but we got absolutely no response after mid-January 2010, even after we tried contacting them by email and phone in February and March. We gave up on them and looked elsewhere.

Overall, it was a positive experience. I had an issue with the quoting. The person I spoke to on the phone gave me a price estimate and when they actually came out to look the estimate jumped considerably (30% higher). I called to complain about the discrepancy. I left a voicemail for the owner. He returned the call very quickly and offered to match the estimate I was given over the phone. With the exception of the pricing issues, working with them was fine. They did what they said they would do.

Repair went very well overall. I called to have them come out to give me an estimate on my window that was in need of repair. Estimate was given on the spot, I agreed to the cost, and the Able Window repairman did the work right then. Couldn't be happier.

All the work was done as expected, and looks great. A large crew showed up on the first day and they managed to get virtually all of it done in 3 days, with just some stucco to be completed on day 4. Everyone was nice and helpful, asked if we had any questions, and treated our house with care. The initial bid was very competitive, though after we agreed on trim, etc., it was a good deal higher and might not have been the cheapest, but still seemed reasonable. Before we signed a contract, we were concerned with how they would replace the corner window and what it would look like, so the owner, Eric, came back with one of his experienced guys to talk it through and make sure we were completely comfortable .

Excellent from start to finish. From initial (free) consultation, to second visit to measure, to installation: always on time, great work, perfect clean up. Contractor (Ron) even pointed out some paint splatters on another pane and gave me a razor and window cleaner with instructions on how to remove. I had thought I would have to replace the whole window and was delighted to find out I did not. A relatively cheap repair and I can now see perfectly out to my rose-filled garden! Thank you Able Glass!

We had a broken window, which Able repaired quickly. However, the estimate on the phone was for 110.00, when they came out it was 150.00. Thanks for taking the time to post your comment. I wanted to take the time to remind others that we only give quotes over the phone (it's only a quote and not a bid). We have to visit the job site to give a formal bid. I'm not sure what happened in your case but I will call you to get more information from you. I thought it would be best for others to know of this as well when reading your review. As always we want complete satisfaction from our customers.

I spent $17000 on the job. It was an average and competitive price. I had other bids as well. I liked the recommendations that they had received. I liked the sales representative, who had come out to measure all the windows. He was very thorough and he explained everything that they would do. I had a couple of problem windows that were leaking that needed some rebuilding and he talked about how it could be resolved. He gave me prices on two different types of products and told me why he would recommend one over the other. They had the window styles I needed, while other companies didn?t. I had an issue with their punctuality, though. There was a big mix-up with the scheduling and it is not clear to me exactly what had happened. I was going away in July and I had got the bids in order and had made my decision in June, so that the work could be done as soon as I got back. I had arranged for them to do the work in the first week of August. When I got back to them, there was some issue with the contract a day before I was leaving the country. It had happened because the salesman was taking time to respond to me immediately. When I got back to the country, I didn?t call them because I had expected them to come out in the first week of August. However, they didn?t show up and I had to call them back. They told me that I wasn?t on the schedule and so, I had wait for two and half weeks. Later, they told me that they noticed that I was pencilled in for the first week of August. Apparently, the dates had changed and they hadn?t informed me. They had my e-mail address. They could have written to me. I still don?t know why they had changed the dates, but they did. They just didn?t let me know and it really inconvenienced me. However, overall, they were good. Their foreman was good. When they finally did come out, they came out everyday. They even came out on weekend to make it up. Their installation seems to have been very good. They were very clean and pleasant. Even though I had people swarming my house, it wasn?t too bad. I will use their services again in the future. I would recommend them to others as well.

Eric Holder came out to look at our existing windows and give us an estimate on the replacement job. He gave me great info on retrofit vs new construction. After the initial consultation, he came back several times to confirm and re-confirm the grid pattern I wanted. He also invited us to come down to the showroom to confirm what wood wraps we wanted and to see the hardware choices for the french doors. When there was a price issue with the hardware I wanted, Eric helped negotiate a lower price for us. I stupidly cancelled the electrical services he offered (for the outdoor light wiring) and when the electrician I hired backed out the week before the job started, Eric was able to provide an electrician *AND* at the exact same rate as our intial quote. The Able Glass crew arrived at 8am on the nose the first day of the job and got to work on the french door installation. They installed a new electrical box as well as ran the new wiring for the outdoor light and installed the flashing, etc for the door. They even asked my hubby if we'd like an outdoor outlet since they were running the wiring anyway (at no cost to us - how cool is that??). The inspector came for the first inspection and all went well. Stucco was replaced around the french doors, and the rest of the windows were swapped out and replaced one by one; new wood wraps were installed; windows were sealed; and glass on the sliding door panels were replaced. All of the work was done by the end of the week as promised. One of the new windows didn't lock right, so they immediately ordered a new one and scheduled a date for that window to be replaced. A permit issue (not related to the glass company or us) came up during the final inspection. One call to Eric Holder (president of Able Glass) rectified the issue IMMEDIATELY. Able Glass' customer service is 5 star. I would use this company any day, any time!
Description of Work: We had Able Glass replace all of our windows (retrofit); built and installed new wood wraps; convert one window into new french doors (which required outdoor light installation and wiring); and replace the panels on our sliding glass doors (dog door insert and new grids).

Absolute disaster from start to finish. Ordered window in August 2009 with deposit. We were told that they would return when window was in production to make final measurement. In January 2010 we called to inquire and were told there was a "miscommunication" and that we should have made an appointment. Service manager visited site on 1/22/2010 for final measurement. Window was replaced with the following errors noted upon inspection by owner: The interior and exterior trim was specified to match existing trim. The house is natural finish redwood. Pine trim was installed on exterior instead of dougfir or redwood. Pine could have been stained, but RTV sealant was smeared all around edges of exterior trim, making staining impossible. Called service rep with compliant. Customer removed old trim per agreement and purchased new VG redwood trim. New exterior trim re-installed by Able Glass. 45 degree miters had 1/8" to 3/16" gap in two upper corners and 1/16" gap in remaining lower corners. Previous pine trim installed had tight and accurate miters. Able Glass contacted again. After waiting two weeks , the job was inspected by service rep and deemed acceptable to their standards. During this time period it was discovered that the window frame gap (5/8") on laterals had not been insulated. Their comment was that they do not insulate air gaps as a normal installation procedure. A top of the line, high efficiency window with a 5/8 air gap between window frame and rough framing? Able Glass offered us $100 off the installation price and were not interested in returning to correct their sub-standard work. After all the sales hype these guys are "Rip and Run". Poor communication, lack of professional pride in their workmanship, and a negative attitude from the company owner lost the sale of another 4 windows in our home. Overall an F- .

Stopped by Able Glass' showroom and Kai spent a lot of time to explain the options available to me. This was my first company I visited during my search, so I had a lot of basic questions that needed to be addressed. Quotation turnaround took a while, but in the end after shopping around, this turned out to one of the less expensive quotations. In addition, Kai recommended where the highest efficiency windows made sense and where it would not make much of a difference. While I could have maxed out the 2009 US Gov stimulus rebate by installing E3 glass all around, I was able save money in the end and still have rebate $$ left over for insulation and other home improvements. Installation was done during heavy rains, but they did a great job at timing job tasks so that they hit the openings between the rainfall. Installation was completed a day earlier than estimated.

Able Glass is not in business for this service. It's a complete shame that a homeowner has to report this about us. We didn't even install this persons windows. The majority of leaks on windows is due to faulty flashing, roofing or bad gutter systems. Even if we did this type of service we wouldn't be able to make repairs in a major rain storm anyway. Please see the responses of other members who understand that when we do come out for services we specialize in that we do indeed take care of you and we stand behind our work and it's guaranteed. It's to bad this person didn't use a company that stood behind the principles and values that we stand for.

We had a prompt initial estimate from Eric for two brands of windows. After talking with and obtaining estimates from 3 other companies, we learned more what we wanted and worked with Eric, mostly by email, to refine the configuration and model of windows. He was always very informative and answered all of our many questions promptly. Once we chose Able Glass to do the work, Eric and his foreman Leo came out to do the final measuring and made sure the window details were correct. The installation crews arrived promptly, were courteous throughout the day, provided quality workmanship, answered any questions we had and cleaned up every day. All of the windows and doors were exactly what we wanted, and we're very pleased with the installation. They even noticed two minor manufacturing flaws and contacted the manufacturer for us with specific information so that the manufacturer's technicion would only have to make one trip to fix the problems. Able Glass provides great attention to detail from the ordering process through installation.
Description of Work: We had all of our windows and patio doors replaced with modern, LOW-E3 double pane vinyl windows. This included 21 sliding and casement windows, one garden window and two patio doors. This work was done over four days using 1-2 two person crews each day.
