The Ceramic Tile Institute of America issued a full report. It outlined the improper installation, and quoted codes that were ignored. In addition several tile contractors verified that the installation was improper and that is what caused the tile to fail. The president John Wholehouse would not return calls for a while. Finally after from pressure from he former owners, he agreed to meet with us. At the end of the day he decided that he could not be bothered to resolve the problems. The estimate to correct this issue is around $60,000, and we will not be able to use the whole downstairs during the process. We have a big hole in the middle of our living room and it makes it difficult to use that room. We have read Mr. Holehouse's response and he clearly has a problem with honesty. First of all the seller that we purchased from and had holehouse build the house was told, according to him was told that holehouse would redo their substandard installation. We had experts in the field come out and inspect and write a report that clearly showed the installation was not done to industry standards or codes. Mr. Holehouse only agreed to come out and review the condition and damage because of pressure brought by the seller that he had built the house for.. Mr. Holehouse brought out a tile contractor when he came and we had a tile contractor and the representative from the ceramic title institute of america. Mr. holehouse arrived an hour late, was rude and condescending. The tile contractor that he brought admitted he had had at least five of his tile installations do the same thing. He said he would get back to us by the end of the week with a resolution. He did not. Later after further pressure from previous owners, he told them he was going to replace the tile and do the job correctly. What he did was tell us in an email that he would do nothing. He then wrote as he did here, an imaginary earthquake and earthquake damage which we did not have nor did anyone else in Montecito, or Santa Barbara during the time of the damage. He further made up claims that we did not have earthquake insurance which is also untrue. Holehouse also uses our home in his ads without our permission. In checking we are only one of others that have had issues with this construction company. If you want a company that stands behind their work it in our opinion, it certainly would not be holehouse construction
