+ -1 moreAll communication was with Jason the owner. CEC installed an electrical panel for us. It started with them quoting us $2500 then changing the price to $3500. They then installed the electrical wiring externally around our patio when we requested it to be wired through our attic (standard practice according to other local electric companies). They told us no. The wiring was not attached to house, buckled out infront of our patio door and was a fall hazard. I asked the owner to return to properly attach to house and he said no, we'd have to pay extra for that. Edison came out to reconnect their wire ( running from electrical pole) to our roof and told us the way CEC had connected it was a MAJOR FIRE RISK. the wiring could have slipped out of the tape they used and lit our house on fire. To top it off, the owner of CEC threatened to put a lien on our house if we didn't pay right away after I kindly requested he attach the external wiring to house because it was a fall hazard, before paying. CEC WAS/IS A NIGHTMARE. DO NOT HIRE THEM.

+ -1 moreHad him install commercial lighting and Electrical outlets. Instructed him and his assistant about what the needs were. They proceeded to install electrical totally disregarding the instructions. Assistant was worthless and wasted a lot of time which we were billed for. Outdoor light fell off one day after they installed it. Too many discussions with this contractor who was always taking other calls while on the job and seemed more intent in getting future business then attending to the business at hand. Never around when we had a problem and had his assistant do most of the work. Much of it had to be corrected. Avoid using if possible.

+ 0 moreJason, the owner, gave me a quote of $150 total to install two ceiling fans. He and his assistant arrived on time and installed both fans in an hour. Both units are working fine. I plan to have them back to install a ceiling light in my den. I found them to be professional and courteous and would recommend them for this type of electrical service.

Description of Work: Jason Carlton set up an appointment to do work at my house. I needed the work done urgently, but made the choice to wait until the following week, when he was available. The appointment was set for January 17th, 2012 at 10 am. At 11am, after a no show, I called and left a message for Jason. No response. At approximately 11:45 I left another message and told him that he'd wasted my time and that I would be posting a negative response of my experience on Angie's list . I then returned to Angie's List and selected another electrician, Keith Stein. He told me he would come by my house within the hour to evaluate what had to be done and would be available to do the work on Thursday. FYI - He kept to his word in both instances and i HIGHLY recommend Keith Stein. At 11:55 Jason Carlton called and, with NO APOLOGY, said he was on his way. I told him not to bother, that I had given up on him and had just found a substitute. He seemed annoyed/surprised and said that he'd had an emergency with a house that had flooded. I told him that all he'd had to do was to call and let me know, as I'd never used him before and had no way of knowing that he might eventually show up. His next excuse was that he couldn't get phone service in the area!!! (hmmm.... No land lines in Santa Barbara??) NO APOLOGY WHATSOEVER!!!!! Regretfully, a complete waste of my time.

+ -1 moreJason Carlton is the owner of CEC Electrical Services & has done extensive work on our aging wiring in a house originally constructed in the 1940's. He has been working on & off here for several years, so I think we are very qualified to rate his work. His communication has always been clear and quick. He's an upbeat kind of guy which is great when someone is spending hours in your home. He responds quickly when problems come up and takes care of them. He's always been punctual & on those occasions when something unforeseen has come up, he always has called to explain and reschedule, if necessary. He's been flexible & patient while we've gone back & forth with ideas about what we want to do & fixtures we want to install. I highly recommend him.
Description of Work: Not sure how much we've paid as work has gone on for so long & has been so extensive, but rates have been reasonable. I will update the amount, if I can, in the future. CEC Electrical Services did complete house rewiring, landscape lighting in front and back with timer so that lights come on at dusk according to program that adjusts depending on the time of year, home theater wiring (electrical drop-down screen) & lighting (recessed) with dimmer switches. Added extra switches, 4 sconces, recessed lighting in kitchen (10 cans, all LED) and track lighting at back of kitchen. Ran electrical wiring to previously unwired section of garage which involved trenching. Currently about to install track lighting (LED) in a large gallery/work-out room, if we ever make up our minds on what we want to do. Consolidated three service panels into two. Installed a new service panel in the gallery/work-out room.
