+ -1 moreJim was late for a job and backed into my truck at 5 points. He immediately took responsibility, apologized and gave me his insurance info. After he asked for an opportunity to pay out of pocket and was displeased with the amount of damage HE caused HE told me to go ahead and submit a claim. Two weeks later find out he lied to the insurance company and did NOT accept responsibility as at the scene. Did I mention my elderly uncle was in the truck? This is also after notifying Jim I’m starting a new job and have a new baby on the way and can’t afford to be screwed over again. Thank a lot Jim. Nice work being a successful liar. Jim did this while working so beware all perspective clients.
Description of Work: Needed to get to T-Mobile at 5 points. Jim hit my uncle and I while he was working so perspective clients need to be aware.

Description of Work: I needed my kitchen sink disposal replaced. He removed my broken one, then repiped it to not have a disposal at all! He was extremely sexually suggestive. I called the city to see if he was licensed. They said that he had gotten a business license that morning and that he was extremely sexually suggestive to the city clerk as well. He's a creep. Don't let this guy into your home!

Description of Work: He was hired to install a ceiling fan & a kitchen faucet. He had trouble with both & stayed longer than I paid for, costing more money at his regular hourly rate. I had to call him back to install a different faucet because the one I purchased didn't fit right with my sink backsplash configuration & he had trouble disconnecting it. I was on hold with the faucet 800 line for about an hour...which he charged me for. Next time I will hire a plumber.

Description of Work: I spoke to Jack a couple times and though he would set up appointments, he wouldn't show up. Even worse he never called with an explanation. Once I got in touch with him, he would simply say he was busy and would need to reschedule. He was completely unreliable!! I moved on.

It took some time to get the job started but Jim kept in touch and found the first available slot but that was a good thing as I just moved back into the house after 15 years and my list of to-do items just kept growing. Once they started they worked weekends, evenings, whatever it took. They are honest, funny, hardworking and kept the prices down by finding good shortcuts that made sense. They are the best I have found in SB as Handymen. Thanks Jim and Fransisco. BTW, I have never done this before but I actually added a few hundred onto the bill because they did so much for so little.
Description of Work: They did weeks worth of work from all new plugs in an older house, 5 ceiling fans, insulation in attic, two doors internal and external, new light fixtures, new dimmers and light switches, mail box, hung pictures (just moved in so about 15) and lots of other small jobs. They worked from early morning until late at night if I asked them to. They had full access to my home while I was away at work with cash laying out and even a passport when I came home from a trip. They were friendly, clean and did what they could to keep the price down. Living in SB there are a LOT of flaky contractors who would rather surf than make money. Now that I have found Jim and Francisco with A Jack of all Trades I will not use anyone else in the Handyman world. Thanks guys.

+ -1 moreTwo men came to assemble a garden shed an hour later than appointment. One mostly sat and read the instructions to younger man that he was training. Together they were $85.00 an hour. When it was done there were many mistakes and misalignments. When they moved it to where it stands, I could barely open the doors. They blamed it on the ground not being level, but didn't offer to use shims and didn't seem to care about the problems. A few days later the owner of the business came to solve the problems and worked a few more hours and solved most of the issues and charged me 1.5 hours at $50.00 an hour. He said the manufacturer's workmanship was at best "fair". I paid $550 for the shed made of cedar from Canada. All in all, not a great experience.

+ 4 moreThey did nothing. I asked how they could perform the work they claim to be able to do and yet hold no licenses at all. I checked the contactors website for the owner and company name and no valid license is possesed. There was no reply. He's a fraud.

+ -1 moreEverything was done very well. In addition, the worker took a closer look at the wall switch for the fan to ensure it was safe. He also cleaned a filter on a faucet for me. These two items were not on my original list. I would have him back in an instant. The problem is he is in Santa Barbara, which is a 40 minute drive from here and there is a half hour charge each way for that. But I will use him again in the future if possible.
Description of Work: Fixed ceiling fan, installed 6 smoke alarms, replaced 2 tiles in shower, replaced rubber on door of shower, tightened a towel bar, and vacuumed the back of a refrigerator.
