The Electrician

I called George and left him a message. He called back a couple hours later and said he was free that night to come by. He's up near Disneyland, but he came down to Laguna Hills for me, which I thought was nice. He charges $75/hour and does not charge a travel fee, which is a great deal. He arrived on time. He was very good about taking his shoes off in my house even though I insisted that he didn't need to. He quickly fixed the GFI outlet. He said the doorbell could not be easily fixed (which is what I was expecting), but he came up with a couple ideas about how to re-run the doorbell wiring. His thought process on finding the best solution was very good... he is definitely very passionate about his job and solving problems. I ended up not having him do it because I decided to just use a wireless door bell. He's professional, friendly, offers the best prices, and the quality of his work is top notch (as a small example, in the GFI outlet he replaced, he made sure it was completely square. It's a small detail but a clear sign that he's a perfectionist).

We bought a new dishwasher and when the people came to install it they discovered that the old dishwasher was hardwired and not to code. It required us to have a new electrical outlet put in. I called George on a Monday and he came on Tuesday afternoon. He was very accommodating and sensitive to our schedules. We really appreciated that. He was on time and extremely professional. We all thought it would be an easy job, but our house is nearly 80 years old and any sort of electrical work always turns out to be an adventure. George had to figure out where the wiring for the dishwasher actually was, especially since it wasn't wired into the main house panel. It took several hours and several trips to the basement to find the connection. Once he found the connection, it was a pretty straight forward installation. George was very professional and personable. When we are ready to remodel our kitchen we will have him do the electrical work. He is a consummate professional.

George did an excellent job with this project. He replaced the ugliest ceiling lights ever with beautiful recessed lighting. He quoted a difficult job and scheduled it perfectly. He was able to coordinate his work with the work of a dry-waller and together they finished the job beautifully.

Everything went perfectly, but the best part was how after he figured out the problem, he gave us three solutions. Cheap fix would be to fix just the bad junction box. That would just cost the price of the visit. For slightly more and in a few hours he could tie the powerless plugs in to a circuit that was powered nearby. Or for more, and with most of a day he could go all out and do what he did. Having an honest breakdown and having the ramifications clearly explained was incredible. Since the room has our home entertainment setup, we chose the dedicated new circuit.

The electrical panel in my condo had been "upgraded" by a previous homeowner and was a mess of wires and very old. George bought a new panel, hooked everything up, and patched up the drywall to make everything look nice and neat. Plus, underneath my kitchen cabinet I had some additional wires that didn't need to be there so he took care of it with some type of electrical box. Both projects work and look great!

Can't say enough good things about George. I ran into a snag in the goofy wiring of this old money pit while removing a wall to open up the kitchen. I called George at around 11:30 yesterday morning. He agreed to com by at 5pm, showed up at 4:30. When we ascertained that the old wiring was odd and not properly done, I asked him for an alternative that would give me better switching of lights in the kitchen. He had to run new romex in the attic and down the walls. This enabled me to switch the kitchen light from either side of the kitchen, a perfect scenario for the new layout. Very reasonable rate. Don't bother shopping around for estimates, just hire this guy. He was very enjoyable to work with. I plan on having him come back to update my pre-Columbian service panel next.

The work went terrific! George was punctual and came as scheduled. The job took about 4 and a half hours. Wiring was through the attic and called for two new circuits. The job was extremely professional and I was extremely satisfied with the work. I would highly recommend George for any electrical work and would plan to use him in the future.

He was Johnny on the spot. He came quickly and did a good job. He was very careful with my home and cleaned up well.

It went really well--George was really booked up, but when he found out my problem he took it upon himself to get to my house as soon as possible because he was worried about the safety of my outlets. He came right on time and did a great job.

George was not only on time but early for our appointment. He quickly fixed one problem & then traced down the root of another. Once he found the cause of the problem he went out to buy a replacement part which proved to be challenging. Upon finding it, he returned and promptly replaced the bum transformer in the attic. He was gracious and explained what he was doing without being patronizing. Not only would I hire him again, I already did. This was the 2nd time I'd hired him to do work- I just didn't get to submitting a report last time. The previous visit was $75.

I contacted George to relocate some outlet but had him do some additional work since he was very pleasant to work with. I had him install new lighting in my kitchen and also outside security lights.

George is awesome! He called almost as soon as I called him. He came out to our house when he said he would - he even came early! It took a little bit to figure out what the previous repair person had installed incorrectly but he figured it out. We will definitely call him again to update our lighting fixtures and for repairs. We've had George help us before and he's always very pleasant and gets the job done! We highly recommend him!

He promptly returned my call and offered to come the same afternoon. "I know how important Christmas lights are, I can come by today at 4," he said. He looked around for the problem, fixed it, and got our Christmas lights back on. He showed me how to fix it next time and checked for any safety issues. He said he felt bad because he had to charge me for a full hour and asked if I had anything else for him to do. Presto! He changed some annoying rocker fluorescent light bulbs in our kitchen that we haven't been able to get loose from the sockets for 3 years. We hate those things! George said he hadn't seen that type of fixture before but he figured out how to remove the broken bulbs, and installed fresh new ones. He had good humor and was completely professional yet friendly. Never made me feel stupid for not knowing how to fix these things myself.

I was able to get an appointment quickly at a time that met my schedule. George called about a half hour before the appointment, and actually arrived early. He dealt with my problems professionally and thoroughly, and he was very generous with his knowledge in helping me to understand the problems. He was here for two hours and he charges $75 per hour.

The service was fabulous. The work was completed on the day I called and looks great! The price was very fair and Mr. McCutcheon was professional and tidy.

I had a call back quickly and was offered an appointment that afternoon. He arrived early at my house, but when he learned that I had not made arrangements to be home at that time, he offered to go get a soda and meet me at the time we had arranged. He quickly determined the likely cause, and added a new full size breaker. He also cautioned me that the aluminum wiring in my fuse box was dangerous and suggested taking some steps to reduce the risk, which he did. I will definitely have him come back to do additional work. He was polite, friendly, and helpful.

He returned call promptly and at my home on time. Very nice gentleman, did exactly what I wanted done, did it well and at a very fair price.

Several of the fixtures required pulling wire through walls to reach the new fixture location or to create a wall switch. He did an excellent job on the wall work including patching the ''holes''. The fixtures were installed correctly, in an appropriate time frame. He was careful with the immediate area in which he was working & cleaned up the area when done. He charges by the hour, does not charge for travel time, is reliable & honest. I will employ him again and recommend his services.

He arrived at my residence with an hour of my returned phone call. He is very considerate, humble, and thorough. I would recommend him to anyone. He is professed in both commercial and residential electrical service.
