When Mark pickup the receipt to write his work and the price that was charged he walked off with the receipt along with the check also. I have contacted him twice asking for the receipt but have not received it as of 5/28/13. I told him he could just mail it to me and did not have to go out of his way to bring by my house.  + -1 moreAlcosta was contacted from Angie's list as the best deal by a local provider. Garage door did not raise by the controller only when held by the wall switch. Alcosta was responsive in contacting me with in 12 hrs and completing repair within 36 hrs. Repair was for garage door tune-up and roller replacement. Roller replacement was completed. Additional charge of $87 to identify and repair a faulty wire to the one of the door sensors. I would think the latter expense would have been included in the garage door tune-up.
Description of Work: provided roller replacement, but, uncertain about the garage door tune-up. It cost an additional $87 to identify and replace a faulty wire to the door sensor. I believe this latter expense should fall under the garage door tune-up.

 + -1 moreRoger came the same day we called him. We had him come for a garage tune up. When he showed up, he discovered that one of our springs was broken. He replaced the springs and performed the tune up in no time at all, taking the time to explain what he was doing, and answering all my questions. The garage door went from something we could hear inside the house to where now we can hardly tell the door is opening or closing WHILE STANDING IN THE DRIVEWAY. I'm quite speachless at how much a difference it made.

Description of Work: Roger of Alcosta Overhead Door lubricated and adjusted the mechanisms for our two garage doors. He also replaced the vinyl rollers on the larger heavier door. He had both doors running smoothly and quietly ... it made a big difference. This is a good thing to do every year or two, especially if you have heavy garage doors.

 + -1 moreAlcosta arrived on time, inspected the door and determined that the lift cables were badly frayed and also needed to be replaced. This was all done the same day. Alcosta clearly knows garage doors. They fixed the problem -- you can no longer hear the garage door open, and told us how to maintain the door to keep it in good working condition.
Description of Work: Our automatic garage door was squeeking very loudly when opened or closed so we took advantage of Alcosta's offer for a reconditioning package (replacing up to a specified number of rollers). .

Description of Work: Fixed stuck garage door with a bent fixture & cable that had come off. While they were out had routine maintenance done on 2 garage doors that are approimately 20 years old. Replaced the bent bottom fixture and provided new cable and retensioned. Replaced old rollers on both garage doors with new (24 in all) Checked springs, oiled and adjusted everything for smooth operation.

 + -1 moreGood, just a little misunderstanding on the extent of work required, but Granzell adapted and overcame.
Description of Work: Granzell was grand. After spying the Angie's List promotion for a service tune up on my garage door, Alcosta sent out Granzell who not only performed that service but replaced my broken motor, change out my old springs, changed out the weather strip, intalled sensors, replaced the interior control button, and so much more. Feels like a complete new door with many years of life ahead.

We had some confusion on setting it up where I told the guy the time he gave me was good and he didn't show up so I called them and he said he was waiting for me to give him a time. He scheduled for the next day and came on time and did a good job. I didn't find anything bad with the work, it was just the scheduling problem.
Description of Work: Alcosta Overhead Door took all the rollers off the garage door and put new rollers on that were much quieter. He adjusted the switch that makes the door go up and down. He also lubricated all the joints.

 + -1 moreWe watched the video on the internet and was impressed. We went to the business address and looked at his product and were impressed. He took his time explaining and demonstrating the product to our satisfaction. His showroom, the warehouse and his truck were all very well kept, clean, and the truck was well maintained. The truck advertised all the various well known brands that he installs. We discussed the door we wanted, got our quote, and arranged to contact him when we got our act together. We also were impressed by the door into his office area...it was very beautiful. I would have liked to have it too. He sells exterior doors as well and will do handyman type work. Alas, we need to have our security door and it would have been wasted on us. We may wind up using the handyman service though.
Description of Work: We spoke to them about replacing our existing garage door with an insulated door with a new garage door opener. Mr. Acosta(?) showed us a variety of doors and we discussed which would be the right one for us. The second from the top of the line was very much what we wanted and the price was very good as well. For $1,050.00 we can replace it and it will be a much better quality than what they sell at Sears/Home Depot etc. These doors are commercial grade doors and openers. They would have met the schedule we would have hoped for but we know we could not clear the garage with the extenuating circumstances that we have. We plan to use this company and have the work done in the near future. We watched the video on the internet and the explanations he was giving were impressive and if he was not telling the truth, Hollywood needs to come meet this guy!

 + -1 moreGreat service!! I tried to go to work one morning this past week and my garage door would not open. I realized that one of my torsion springs was broken, and I did not know how to get the door open (I have a double wooden garage door - it is very heavy). I called Alcosta and they had a technician out within an hour (after two other companies said it would be later in the day). The technician (Mark) got the door open so I could go to work. He didn't have the springs in his truck, but he promised to get the parts and return later in the day. He called me later that afternoon, said he had the parts, and I returned home where he was waiting. He replaced the springs, did some maintenance on the door (and even tightened the handle on my front door as he was going in and out). Just an overall great experience and I highly recommend them.

I wasn't particularly concerned when I didn't hear from them within 2 days (as my invoice indicated I should) as I was quite busy at the time. However I hadn't heard from them after a couple of weeks and contacted Angies List to help out. It still took a further week before I heard from them and finally scheduled an appointment. The work itself was done well and the technician was quite pleasant and gave me some helpful advice. Better communication would have been appreciated.

 + -1 moreOverall, our experience was great. The problems we were having with the door were fixed and we got some good tips on how to maintain the door and not run into problems in the future.
Description of Work: Maintenance of the garage door and opener, replaced all of the wheels, fixed the angle of the track so that the door would stay on the track. The installer from a year ago did a bad job when installing the tracks, but Alcosta Overhead Door Co. fixed it beautifully. We haven't had a problem since. The only negative I have to say is that we talked about having the glass replaced on the door. We were suppose to get a quote within a week on what that would cost, but we stil (3 mos later) have not heard back from him. It's a small item to replace and we could probably do it ourselves, so we haven't tried to contact him again about it, but it would have been nice if he would have followed through on this item.

 + -1 moreWe called early on a Friday morning, the weekend before New Year's. Our garage door was malfunctioning and sounded awful - it would not open or close with our electronic garage door opener. Alcosta was able to send out a service technician within a couple hours of our phone call and had the problem fixed within an hour of arriving. The springs at the top of the garage door had broken - they were brittle and were probably more than 10 years old. The service person was friendly and also gave my husband a quick overview of annual maintenance on the garage door to avoid the same situation in the future. We could not have asked for more prompt service given that our problem arose between Christmas and New Year's.
Description of Work: Alcosta was called to check our malfunctioning garage door a few days after Christmas. They diagnosed the problem - the springs in the door were shot -- and replaced the springs and oiled all the moving parts.

 + -1 moreBasically, he slaps the new wheels on and that was it and left. I was expecting him to adjust my door and get it all nice a level. All they did was put some wheels on and called it a tune-up and that was it. I wasn't very thrilled at all. If I knew that was going to be the front of it, I could have gone down to the hardware store and got my own wheels and put them on myself.
