Protera

First test was punctual, professional and timely. So was the second test but when the bills were presented I smelled a rat. The first set included use of three different test kits, two for exterior "base" readings from outside our home, and a third within the contaminated room, which had been cleaned. The first test showed more work to be done and so a rep came out and performed one more interior test after the room was re-cleaned. This time we passed. However, our insurance company was billed the same amount for the one test as the three tests before. When questioned about this "policy" the manager was extremely rude and could not explain why the bills were the same. After this conversation I checked with pricing on several other local Mold Inspectors, and found Protera to be double and triple the cost of the competition. Nice inspectors, rude management and way overpriced service result in a C rating from me.

Protera absolutely completely failed in doing their job. The only positive point is that Joe from Protera came out to our home to do the job quickly and showed up on time. However, Protera was supposed to provide official results from the tests. They were supposed to fax us the results within 24 hours of the tests. After 24 hours, we still hadn't heard from Joe so we called him repeatedly until he finally answered the phone. He gave us verbal "results" over the phone but was supposed to fax us official results. After several days had passed without the official results, we called him again. He never returned our calls. We then called the office and spoke with a person at the office. They were not able to find a record of the work that was done and said they would call back. She sounded impatient and annoyed. They never called back. We never received any results. (We also haven't received a bill yet.) We ended up re-testing with another company.
