Very well - I called the main number on a Sunday morning, the plumber (Nick) called 15 mins before he came by (which was an hour ahead of schedule), and he was very knowledgeable. He tried to fix a wobbly faucet (access is very difficult - poor setup by builder) and explained everything to me. I signed up for a service plan but there was no "hard sell".

I called Benjamin Franklin Plumbing to get a bid for work I needed done (installing overflow and pressure relief for hot water heater), running new gas line for stove), as well as to get information on costs/options for repiping the whole house, installing tankless water heater and whole house water filter system. There guy did show up in a punctual manner, provided a rough estimate for some of the work, but needed to look up more information for one aspect so took my email with a promise to send a written bid. No matter how many times I called, I could not get them to send the estimate. There was always some explanation why, I even spoke to his manager who apologized and promised I would have it the next day. Considering that I was ready to drop ~$2-3K on the initial job, and probably at least $10K eventually on the other parts, it was a mystery why they just would not respond. Oh well, I went with a great plumber and will never call BF again...

Pros: Timely Friendly Project billing (not by the hour) You will know up front what the cost will be before you agree to any work They don't charge extra for weekend work Cons: EXPENSIVE ($289 to replace and dispose of one toilet, plus the cost of the toilet) - OUCH - I called another plumber. Will try to sell you on their "maintenance program" (which includes Mr. Sparky Electrical and One Hour Heating) They may or may not be prepared to fix the issue at that time. Hmm... Still looking for a fair, reasonably priced plumber that will answer the phone and show up on time.
Description of Work: I needed a plumber to install a water line for a new refrigerator. They answered the call, scheduled an appointment on a Saturday at no extra cost, and showed up on time. YAY! $529 - Ouch! While he was there, he flushed my water heater for free and found that the Anode Rod was terribly corroded (KaChing!) $279 to replace the rod. The minerals from our local hard water would no longer be attracted to the anode rod and would be dispersed throughout my home (which is 40 years old) and start corroding the plumbing fixtures. Of course he managed to find a couple of other things I "should do" as well. The house IS 40 years old, but I just bought it so I didn't authorize anything else. He offered me a discount if I "joined the maintenance program" for nearly $200 per year. No thank you! I would call them again in a pinch, but I would have to be desperate. He was very nice though!

Description of Work: I signed up for an annual maintenance program with this company through a heating and ac company. The monthly fee includes an annual inspection of my home plumbing, heating and electrical. It sounded like a good offer. During the first inspection, there were several repairs/improvements suggested that I should make. It seemed reasonable so I agreed. That trip included repairing running toilets in both of our bathrooms. The toilet handles were replaced in both bathrooms and the tank mechanisms rebuilt in one. Within a few weeks, the toilet in the bathroom where only the handle was replaced started running again. I had them come out again. After having the appointment moved from the morning to the afternoon, the plumber wasn't prepared to fix it and didn't. He told me it would cost about $300 and suggested I also have a whole house water filter installed that would cost between $3600 and $4800. All I wanted was for the toilet to stop running. The repair never happened and I called another plumber to do the job so my toilet has now been fixed. It seems that the maintenance program is an opportunity to sell jobs I otherwise didn't ask for.

It did not go very well. They kept on accusing me of lying and they said that nobody would believe me that they turned off my water and pulled a "bait and switch" because they are a well established company. They treated me like I was sub-human. I took them to small claims court, and won. Two different judges believed me, and not them. Their parent company teaches them how to pull "bait and switch" and that they are predatory lenders. They force people into borrowing money, and putting them into debt that they cannot get out of. In my case, the judge ruled in my favor as the consumer, not for the plumber.
Description of Work: My hot water heater had stopped working that morning. These guys showed up first after calling companies. They told me that my heater had cracks and they gave me info on getting a new system. They took out the system and laid it on the garage floor. The quote then went from 3800 to 7986 dollars. That is what he wanted me to sign, and I was stuck without a water heater. I could not get another company to come out for three days. I would have been without water for three days.

They did a good job. They arrived on time and when they were scheduled to be here. I thought they were a little pricey. They cleaned up after themselves and were very professional and polite. Overall, I think they did a good job. I would call them again if I needed to.
Description of Work: They came and reconnected my plumbing to my sink and dishwasher. They also installed a cook top.

The cost for this repair was way overpriced. I questioned the price. The business stated the service is completed by a book of prices rather than by the hour. I wanted to talk to the plumber himself. He finally returned my call after six attempts. He stated that he was basically charging what the book said. He was very nice and the job was completed correctly. They charged $59.95 for travel, which does not even apply to the repair price. They were willing to send me a check for $100 as they want happy customers. I stated this is an inadequate amount. The supervisor states that they do not work on commission. Upon completion of the repair, the plumber asked if there was anything else. Upon request, he checked the other two toilets in the home. They were older toilets and used a lot of water. Therefore, he stated they worked fine but could be more efficient. He recommended installing two new American standard toilets for $1418. I opted to not choose this service.
Description of Work: The toilet was leaking. It is a low profile single unit. The plumber made the repairs by installing new parts.

The plumber arrived on time, but the truck was not even partially loaded. It had one faucet costing $379. He suggested replacing the cartridge instead, but the only one he could find was the wrong size and water poured continuously out of it. I had 2 choices: buy the expensive faucet or call another plumber while water poured out of my broken sink. I chose the faucet for expedience. The work was good and he cleaned up well. The owner responded to my complaint letter by reducing my fee. But he also told me that he knew that truck left with nothing on it and did nothing about it. He said this plumber had not been trained in their current catalog. It was a very bad experience. It wasn't what was promised in their advertising, that the truck would be full of choices and would contain a catalog of more choices. None of this was true.

THIS IS NOT THE CHEAPEST PLUMBER AROUND, BUT THEY DID A GREAT JOB. THEY CAME OUT WHEN THEY WERE SCHEDULED AND COMPLETED THE WORK IN THE ESTIMATED TIMEFRAME. THE TECHNICIAN EXPLAINED OUR OPTIONS IN A POLITE AND COURTEOUS MANNER. HE ALSO CLEANED UP AFTER HIMSELF.
