Mike was excellent. He came out the next day after calling to set up an appointment. He arrived timely and quickly determined the issue with our dryer. Mike had the part with him and quickly fixed the dryer. Cost was reasonable.

Poor customer service. Called to make an appointment to look at my dryer. I didn't have the exact model number on hand (I'm at work), which they wanted because they don't service all Kenmore Elite dryer models. I had asked if they could hold the appointment (which is a week away) till tomorrow morning so I can let her know what the model number is when I get home from work tonight. She said she would only hold it till today at 4:00 pm. I find it hard to believe she would get an appointment request in the 1 hour before they close and couldn't just hold the time. I could have left her a voice message which she could have picked up first thing in the a.m. Disappointing.

I was out of town and had to arrange the visit by phone. A great experience. I wish everyone was like this.
Description of Work: Mike came out and diagnosed a problem with both washer and dryer. It turned out the problem as all in the washer, and he fixed it, and the reasonable fix prevented me from wasting money on new ones. I can't praise him and his company enough! Great work, great price, work done quickly, and he has my total confidence.

Beyond belief!
Description of Work: Mike called me back within the hour. I told him the symptoms of my problem. He suggested that I try a different approach to testing the power supply and lo and behold, my dishwasher came back to life. I have written Mike's number on my wall and will be calling him with future problems, maybe even the ones that have nothing to do with appliances.

Description of Work: Our washer stopped working, and I thoguht it was the pump as the agitator, seemed to work. We called on a thursday, and they could schedule til the following monday. asked if we wanted to check another provider. We chose not to, as the company had come recommeneded by Angie's list AND a neighbor. | |They came on time, and diagnosed problem as a switch that could be repaired, for just the service fee of $120, or replaced for $40 more. We chose to replace, although we thrght the service call was a bit high. total was $160. | |The technician noted taht it was a much better idea to repair our old (at least 15 years) machine, as the quality and life expectancy of a new model was much shorter... the new manchines were known to break down within 5 years. | |Generally this was a very good experience.

The Technician came out and assessed our problem . Initially he replaced a small part which cost us $160 for parts and labor. It did not fix the problem and he promptly returned to re-assess the problem which was a bad compressor. Instead of performing a costly repair for parts and labor, he said it was not worth fixing and we were better off buying something new. He voided our first check and only charged us $40 for his time. He was very knowledgeable and gave us great advice and tips for other appliances in the house. We will use them again for future appliance repair needs

I contacted these guys TWICE via Angie's List to fix my fridge. No response. Such a shame - they are located about a block from my house and I figured I'd give the local guys my business. I'm not going to chase these guys -- they obviously don't want my business.

Description of Work: Unfortunately, I had a similar experience to the person who didn't get return phone calls. I left a message t the office on a Thursday afternoon. When there was no return call by Tuesday, I called again. This time, I reached someone in the office who scheduled an appointment for August 28 between 11:00-1:00. About 12:30 on August 28, Mike (Duran) called to say he had a flat tire and it would take an hour for the tow truck to reach him. Since my repair was not an emergency, I offered to reschedule. He promised to call when he got back to his office and his calendar. He never called. I even called a week later and left a reminder message. Still no call back. No "missed calls" on my phone, either. So I will try another company.

The repair tech from Appliance Techs of Marin, Mike Duran, was fantastic. Our washing machine was not draining so I called for a repair tech and spoke to the receptionist at 1pm on Friday. The receptionist said that the next available appointment was on Saturday morning, but she would let the tech know we were hoping he could come Friday. Sure enough, Mike called us at 3:30 Friday afternoon to say he would be there at 4:30. He quickly determined that the pump was defective. He returned Saturday morning with a replacement pump, which he installed in about 10 minutes, and only charged $150 for both visits. Great service. Very fast. Quite reasonable.

Response from APPLIANCE TECHS OF MARIN
Our apologies to you for making you feel neglected - twice. Our technician says he did return your call, but was not able to speak with you, and left a message instead. Our Angie's List representative said we should ask you kindly to please remove (or lower) the "F" rating, especially since no work was performed by our company. However, we disagree. Right or wrong, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. We say, let it ride. Thank you for your honesty.

I really liked that guy and he was really good. He called me back about 2-3 hours after I had left a message and I appreciated that. I only used him once but I was very impressed with him. He gave me a very reasonable price and he really knew what he was doing. He came out that same day, looked at it and explained to me what had happened, and fixed it. They were no up-selling tactics like I needed this or that. I did use him on a follow-up on the same refrigerator and he was once again really prompt about getting here and doing the work. He just struck me as being very honest and very hard-working and very competent.

Overall it went extremely well.
Description of Work: We originally called Mike to service our electric oven which had not been heating properly for over a year. We had previously had it serviced with a maintenance contract from Sears, but the last time they sent a tech, he didn't know the difference between the cooktop and the oven. We found glowing reports for Mike and Appliance Techs of Marin on yelp, and fairly good reports on Angie's List. The company is local, and really prefer to deal with local, independent companies. I e-mailed Mike the beginning of February, giving the model number, and the problem I was experiencing.....Oven set to 500...thermometer registering 250. But sometimes erratic, temperature set at 350 and thermometer registering 500. No souffles at our house! Mike called me back the very next morning and said that he felt that there was a problem with the thermostat and that he would order a new one and probably be able to install it by the end of the week. Now, this will be the only part that was a bit frustrating. He didn't call at the end of the week, but I let it go, as it was a holiday week end. Another week passed and I still didn't hear anything. I sent another e-mail and phoned him and he did respond. He said that he had called to order the part from Sears and was told that it would be sent. It didn't come in and then Sears told him that part was no longer available for that oven. But he called a different number and they sent the part immediately. In some fairness, I did tell him that it wasn't an emergency....but would have appreciated updates as to why the three week delay in response. He came the next day and was completely professional and extremely personable. He installed the new thermostat, but that was not the problem. We discovered a hole in the back of the oven and the relay was not operating properly (whatever that is). He said he could fix the relay and would call us back. He did call the next day, but after looking at the hole, and thinking of heat escaping into the cabinet below, my husband and I decided it was time for a new oven. We also decided to splurge on a new dishwasher, as our old dishwasher only would clean clean dishes and sometimes left them dirtier than when we put them in. (We're an appliance nightmare). We asked Mike for recommendations for where to buy the appliances and also asked him to install the new appliances (Sears once hooked our refrigerator water up to the hot water). He recommended Martin and Harris and said he would gladly install the appliances when they arrived. We ordered our new appliances and Mike came yesterday to install both of them. He did a great job, very neat, very quick...even hauled off our old appliances. The total charge for the work on old oven and the installation was 250.00. I think extremely fair. He will be coming back soon to fix our refrigerator which has a "frozen bladder" and to replace tubing which has a bad kink. I'm assuming that the washer and dryer have been peeking around the corner and wishing they can get some TLC, too, so sure we will be seeing a lot of Mike in the future.

It was a strange experience. I called them and made an appointment for an appliance repair. They sent someone else. It involved a situation where they had to diagnose a problem and get some parts. They had to get back and put the parts in. However, the person who came out was a sub contractor. It was not quite clear as to what his relationship was to the people I had called. I was not clear who I was working with. I did not have any particular issues. It was not that I had a problem as a result of that. It was a little strange because he encouraged me to call him in the future rather than the company. The repair work was satisfactory. It seemed like a simple problem to me. I got charged for a couple of hours of time to diagnose it. He was not very efficient. That was what I thought as a home owner. It was a pop up ventilator for a kitchen range that did not work. It was stuck. It seemed to me that the switch was the logical place to check. It took him a while to come to that conclusion. The repair was satisfactory and it is working well. The price was high. They did come pretty quickly so their responsiveness was good. They showed up late; way late. I would probably not use them again because overall, their price was pretty high.

In my opinion, a well designed and informative web site is an important selection tool to assist in deciding which contractor to ask for a job quote. His web site is well constructed and lists those products in which he has experience or familiarity.
Description of Work: A fan motor which cools the compressor on a large (27.5 cu/ft) freezer/refrigerator had failed. Mike's suggestion that I use a home fan to cool the unit until he could return with the necessary part was an important and helpful suggestion. The new part was installed without any hitch. He did provide a Senior discount.

Mike was responsive, came when he said he would, and returned when he said he would.
Description of Work: I called on a Saturday when my dryer started smoking (!), left a message that it was not an emergency and to call me back on Monday. Mike did, and he came out that same day. Because of excessive lint buildup, the dryer overheated, and the wires melted. Mike suggested that the cost to repair the old one wasn't worth it. Mike offered to come back when the new one was installed to clean out the dryer vent. I called him the day before the delivery of the new appliance, and he came right on time the next day. The vent was cleaned out and all should be fine.

I called them on Saturday morning and left a message. The tech called back wtihin a half hour and was able to come to the house within an hour. He asked questions over the phone and said he was sure that he could fix it. He diagnosed the problem (a broken heating element) quickly and replaced the broken part easily. He also had the right part with him, which is great. We asked him to check the exhaust ducts and he recommended that we replace them because they were very clogged with lint and could pose a fire hazard. He cleaned out the lint and replaced the ducts in about an hour and a half. He spent a little over two hours at the house total. The cost of the repair and service was in line with what we expected to pay. The tech was very friendly and personalbe. Overall a good experience.
