Description of Work: We started the process in August 2014, the solar system was installed November 2014 and I turned it on February 5, 2015. Working with the sales department and the administrative process was not a pleasant experience. We never met anyone face to face from the sales group, only email and phone interaction. In the beginning of the process I had a lot of questions and didn't sign the contract until we were satisfied with the contract. There were mistakes in the contract, not the correct size of system, the numbers didn't match or add up correctly. I was told these things would have been caught on the final audit. Well, I wanted a contract that was correct before we signed. After a few more discussions we finally were satisfied with the contract and signed. The delay in signing the contract was because the sales rep we were working with left the company and we were not notified and no one took over the account. Then another delay was their processing paperwork to PG&E. The system was installed in November 2014. I turned it on in February 2015. | |The crew that installed the system were fantastic!! They arrived early morning and worked 14 hours to install the system. They explained every process along the way. They explained how the system worked with PG&E's meter, explained clearly how I was to turn on the system when I had PG&E approval. The crew leader/foreman (Rudolph Hinds) gave me his card and told me to call him if I needed any help turning on the system. They wiped their feet when they came in the house, were polite, professional and worked really hard. The crew worked together like a well oiled machine. While we were not happy with the sales department the installation crew were the best! PG&E were also great. A PG&E agent called and explained how the true billing would work with solar. They also sent a kit with lots of great information and a website where I can monitor the usage. The end result having the solar is the best part.

Description of Work: After interviewing various contractors who could not give us the correct details and requirements for our solar installation, we decided to go with Solar City because they at least were able to give us figures and details from the beginning, even though later on they had to change a few things. |We went with the prepaid 20 year lease because we do not know what new systems will be available 20 years from now and we could not see paying 24K for a system that will probably be obsolete before that time. Also, by |prepaying, we are free to sell the house and pass along the lease contract to the new owners. We had a new roof installed by another contractor prior to the 20 solar panels from which we were promised at least 5,000kw and we have produced well over 6k. Everything went as promised, including a few kinks where they had to check and see if we had a ground which we had had previously installed. Also, they helped us pass the electric panel update and the inspector requested an extra smoke alarm in our guest cottage at the last minute and the technician pulled one out of his truck so we were able to pass without a glitch. Thanks for everything Solar City. We only wish we had room for more solar panels on our roof!

Description of Work: A salesperson came to the house to explain the entire process and spent hours answering our questions. We liked the company and their pricing policy. They set up an installation date and are installing our panels as I type this.

Description of Work: We had them out for an estimate to purchase solar panels for our home. They were very nice and informative but their cost seemed too high, so after some more cost comparisons and basic math we decided to go with another vender. I gave them a B for professionalism because they called me twice after I told them I was not interested in their services. I know their job is to sell me their product but the second time was annoying.

Description of Work: Installed solar to fit roof. They absorb the cost and charge me for the electricity at 20 cents per kilowatt provided. The excess goes back to PG&E and is banked for compensation when the solar is less productive and I'm drawing on what is banked with PG&E.

Description of Work: They pushed really hard for e-signatures without me having the time to read the fine print. They were going great until I had some questions about the design, then things turned to a crawl. The three people that I had contact at my home seemed very capable, but over the phone, others were not very good. Things have now fallen apart, I may have misunderstood the whole package, but feel I was misled about what they were going to provide. One part that bothered me was, putting the panels on an older roof, a friend with another solar company was quoted $2K, for R&R, that should be included in the total cost. I believe SC will do it for $500. Another, was relocating the mast, I wanted everything consolidated in one area, that quote was for another $3.5K. The whole experience was pretty depressing.
