These guys built a deck in record time and cleaned up after themselves. I don't have any complaints about the workmanship. They are experts at IPE, an extremely hard wood that requires screws because it is too hard to use nails. They know how to work with this material. I have no complaints and felt the job went well.

I went to the Better Business Bureau to get these guys to fix this up. I would never recommend that group and would do everything I could to keep other people from losing money working with JS General Construction in San Mateo. It took a long time for us to get the Better Business Bureau to get them to come back out and do what they said they would do. I had interviewed a lot of people and gotten different estimates. They came in; this guy was an independent that had a fairly robust construction company that focuses on decks. We were looking for someone who could do a special brand of wood that is longer lasting then redwood and he was one of the few guys who could work with that wood. We had a design; had the deck basically mapped out. We had a blueprint, basically, of what was supposed to be done. He never showed up. His guys came in, they kind of put in what they wanted to put in. We had to have it corrected, virtually every other day. The owner was never available. Finally just to get them away from us, we just said get out. Then it became very obvious that the structure they ended up with completely ignored the designs that we had agreed to. What we were left with was really impractical for our needs. I tried to get them to come back and make some corrections but he never responded. So I finally had to go to the Better Business Bureau. When they got involved he finally responded. He and his crew came back and made some adjustments; they kind of corrected a couple of steps and that kind of stuff. Now, hopefully, he is out of my life forever. I don't ever want anybody to have to deal with these guys. And, they are an established construction group on San Mateo. I don't know if he just didn't like us, or what. I will absolutely not hire them in the future.

I have used them for 3 jobs now and I would recommend them highly. They are excellent and are really fast. They do wood deck and fence stuff. They resolved the problem completely even though it was difficult to resolve.
