It took about 10 minutes. They took off the cover and were able to immediately point at the problem. The large capacitor that is used to boost the startup of the compressor was expanded like a can of fruit going bad. They replaced the capacitor and all was well again. Wonderul.

Ricardo came right on time, inspected and recommended we not proceed with the project. Appreciated the honesty and the friendly conversation. He also recommended someone for an unrelated project.

Highly recommended. Ricardo is a very honest and professional person. This is the only company that will give you an honest estimate. Others (you will easily find who they are) will never give you an estimate regardless how precisely you describe the necessary repair job. They charge you $30, $50, or $200 for so called "diagnostic", which is 2 minutes of work, and then blackmail you with arbitrary negotiable price. I am writing this because I called a company that charged me $30 to to tell me what I know and then requested $1200 (subsequently negotiated and reduced to $850) for a 10 minute job (replacement of a faulty motor attached with 3 screws), what I rejected. Bayhill Heat & Air requested the description of the problem, then provided a fixed estimate where the total labor was $180. Every company can replace a motor, but this can be done in an honest way or in a way which first humiliates the customer and then blackmails and overcharges. I think that my contact with Bayhill Heat & Air was a positive experience, and in particular I would like to recommend Ricardo as a man who speaks in a direct and honest way, gives reasonable advises and performs repair on time for a very reasonable price.

December 2017 Ricardo Valderrama, Owner of Bayhill & Air came to give us a quote. He's a pleasant man and charged a fair price so this is not an easy review to give. I am permanently handicapped and realized we were off to a bad start when He replaced our old thermostat and left, but failed to connect the wires and the heater wouldn't start. Me and my young children spent a very cold night (40 degrees) without heat. I asked Mr. Valderrama about attic insulation. He inspected the attic and told me it wasn't needed. Later, PG&E determined insulation was very inadequate. When the installers arrived a few weeks later, they brought the wrong materials and couldn't install in the backyard as agreed. So they tried to convince me to install the unit in the middle of the walkway. This is a violation of safety code and would block the path to the back yard. They said they didn't have time to go get the necessary materials. So we spent another very cold night, (43 degrees) with my 1 and 5 year old children. They also damaged an expensive bush, broke our gate and dented the air conditioner. I've tried 23 times (!) by phone, email and text since December 2017 to get this resolved. I like Ricardo, but unfortunately, after a year-and-a-half, I have no other choice but to take him to small claims court.

Me Valderrama was on time and quickly diagnosed the ignition problem with our furnace. He also performed the work quickly and added a little info about the furnace. Definitely will hire again.

Excellent service. Our heater quit working on a Friday evening. We called the after hours number and quickly got a return call. Ricardo came out on Saturday morning to inspect our 21 year unit and determined that it was an electrical problem. He explained the cost difference between repair and replace and we decided to get a new unit. His team was at the house Monday morning at 9 am and they finished removing the old unit and installing the new one that same afternoon. The work was done professionally and the new heater and thermostat are great. Top marks! We definitely recommend their work.

Ricardo came out and looked at my furnace, and gave me the options: repair it (after which it would only last a couple years anyway), or replace it, and at the same time move the return from the wall of the living room (where it was always blocked by furniture and was VERY noisy while watching TV) to the hallway. Getting the two things done together made more financial sense in the long run, so that's what we did. Work started the very next day, and was done in less than a day and a half. (I did get lucky in that another big job cancelled on them, so his crew was free to start right away. YMMV.) The work they did appears to be excellent. The furnace is much quieter, and the house warms up very quickly. The crew was very good: even though they had to come back the second day to finish up, they worked very hard to make sure the furnace was at least hooked up and working so I didn't have to spend the night without heat. And they left the work site clean, which is nice. Overall, the process was much less trouble than I thought it would be, and now I have a nice warm house! Would definitely use them again.

I would definitely call Bayhill Heat & Air again. The person who answered the phone was very pleasant. Ricardo then called back quickly and scheduled a time to come look at my non-working AC today. He arrived promptly, figured out what was wrong with my AC, and fixed it. It was already 86 degrees in my house when he arrived, so I'm thrilled to have my AC working again! Thanks!!

Called them on a Sunday when the gas heater stopped working. Answering service picked up and said that someone would call back. Ricardo called back in 10-15 minutes and said he would drop by in under an hour and have a look. He actually arrived in just 30 minutes and went up the attic to look at the furnace. He then described the problem and gave me options on repairing it /replacing it. Once we decided to replace it he set up an appointment for the next day. They, 3 technicians, arrived on monday morning at 8:30AM, and finished the job in about 3 hours. They started by protecting the floors from dust and shoes and proceeded to replace the heater. The job was done professionally with care. They also replaced the thermostat with one I had bought. They asked me to inspect work and made sure that I was satisfied. They cleaned up thoroughly behind them and left no dust/garbage on the floors. The area where they installed the furnace was cleaner then when they started on. Ricardo himself was present while heater was being installed and checked up on it and tested it before leaving. Overall they did a great job at bringing the heat back on as quickly as possible.

Working with Ricardo and Bayhill could not have been more cooperative and ideal. Ricardo takes get care and time to explain deteails, yet with an economy of words. Benny oversaw the three fine men who removed our old furnace and leaking ducts, then cleanly and proficiently installed the new ducts and high efficiency furnace all in three delightful days. We're warm again and saving lots of energy.

The technician was very nice, he fixed the heater that was broken. I also needed to have another heater replaced and he was supposed to give us a call back after he found some pricing and never called us back.

They came out right away. They did what we asked them to do and quickly. The owner came out and he was fine. Their price wasn’t cheap.

The work was done quickly and professionally with minimal impact. There was a slight gas odor the next morning (a little disturbing), and they returned within a few hours after it was reported to fix it. No problems since then--the furnace is working fine.

Ricardo is the owner of Bayhill Heat & Air, and I found him to be knowledgeable, honest, and genuinely a very nice person. We feel we made the right decision choosing him as our contractor. From start to finish it was stress-free and smooth sailing. Ricardo is right on top of every detail of the project and handles everything very quickly. And if he says work will start at 8:30 a.m., believe me, when you look out your window, the trucks will be there and the crew ready to go. He is always available on line, by e-mail, or through his receptionist. I really appreciated that he took the time to really understand what my goals were and how to best achieve them. He was also very willing to revise my bid proposal and work with me a little until I was confident that I doing the right thing. I tried to learn about the different materials that could be used for ductwork by reading, but I still wasn't sure so Ricardo took the time to bring me samples of different materials, which really helped me make up my mind. He gave me ample time to consider all the details of this big job so I could feel comfortable that I was doing the right thing. I never felt pressured. I also really liked the fact that his bid proposals are very concise and each item is set forth on its own line so you can question each individual charge, which also allowed me to decide which furnace or air filtration system to choose and also where I could splurge or perhaps cut back. Other bids just gave a general description with a lump sum amount, with variables set forth separately, which confused me and left me with too many questions. When all the work was done, Ricardo spent time helping me learn how to use all the new features on the furnace and air filtration system and apply for rebates. Thanks Ricardo! Ricardo also has a wonderful crew and a pleasant receptionist who were always professional and courteous. His foreman Benny is amazing to watch. His workmanship is top notch. I think he is a perfectionist. Everything is just beautiful! He made my home really look like a million dollar home. When the City inspector came by to sign off on the permit, the work all passed with flying colors. The inspector was quite impressed. What came out of this 1957 house was old rusty tin. I'm sure I will save plenty this winter on my PG&E bill not heating the crawl space. My father and husband, both retired property managers, couldn't believe the qualitfy workmanship and materials that were used and how diligently everyone worked to get this big job done in just three days. We love our heating and air filtration system, and can finely breathe better. The air circulating is so clean and refreshing, and with pets that is amazing. When pollen count is high, I can stay indoors and enjoy pollen-free air. We are more than pleased. We got a great deal! Thanks Bayhill!

We hired Bayhill because of two main things that differentiated them from other contractors during the estimating phase: first, they did a thorough inspection - Ricardo and Benny inspected both attic and crawl space and explained everything they would do, which made us feel like their bid was going to have little or no surprises later. Second, they invited us to visit one other property nearby where they were currently doing similar work, which we did and found no reason to worry. Their bid was the middle one out of three, but even though one other bid was several hundred dollars lower, we decided that we wanted to hire Bayhill because we felt that we would have better experience with them. It turned out that we were correct in that. They did the job on time and without any major issues, and all people who came to work on the job were very friendly and easy to deal with. They asked for clarification every time when something was not possible to do the way we originally agreed, and we could always come to an agreeable solution. They even did a small drywall patching job left after electrical work done by other contractor for free - and we really appreciated the gesture. The only snag we had was that after they completed the job we had water pipes clogged because they were old and, even that they were not touched by the HVAC work, people bumped into them during work in the crawl space which dislodged debris. Ricardo came in after we called him, explained that he could not be held responsible for that, but then showed us how to flush the pipes and gave us a recommendation for a plumber to help us if needed. It turned out to be a couple of hours of work for us, which we did not like too much at the time, but it was a reasonable resolution. All in all, it was a very good experience on a very big job, and we can certainly recommend Bayhill to others.
