Western Exterminator

They've done really well. They are a family-owned operation and local. They've done a good job. They know exterminating very well. We had a rat problem that they dealt with and were able to work with us very easily. I think their estimate was reasonable. We have a pretty unique kind of house and they were able to work around that and remedy the problem. I will use them again.

I called Western after noticing bees swarming near a hole in the stucco under an eave outside my garage. They said because I was a regular service customer, they would discount the price by $50.00.... which they did. David showed up on schedule and treated the area according to what I'd been told on the phone. He said to allow 2-4 days for the bees to go entirely away, but they actually were gone that same day, and never came back. Excellent service! Thanks Western!

We basically never see them. They come and they spray around. Then we get a bill in the mail. They come every month. If we have a problem, they will come out and take care of it. They are conscientious. We are happy with their service.

We were very impressed with Western Exterminators professionalism and thoroughness. Gavin explained, in detail, what he would do and then completed the job right away. Our experience was excellent and considering we aren't regular customer (though we will be now), their prompt response was amazing.

They subcontract someone else to do the fumigating. The Western Exterminator rep was unaware that the gas company had changed their schedule in the way they turn gas back on after fumigation, even though they had changed it months ago. This caused me great inconvenience.

The price was too high. I didn’t feel like that I needed an overall check up. I was talking to them about one specific issue. Their responsiveness and punctuality were good. It was the evaluation that I had a problem with. They were fine as I had desired and hoped they would be. I would consider using their services again in the future.

They have done a good job. They are consistent.

We have been using Western Exterminators for over 25 years for each of the past 3 homes we have lived in. Our present home is serviced by Jorge . He is real friendly with our dog and we trust him completely. Because of that we told him where we keep our "hidden" key for the side automatic gate so he can come once a month to spray for exterior pests.

At first, the rats were caught and the house sealed. The following Fall, the rats returned. We have been using their services all along but for the past two months there have been no results. None. They have set multiple traps in the attic and garage. The rats continue to chew holes in the wall of the garage to gain access to attic. We do not know full extent of damage in attic but insulation is coming through many of our ceiling vents. The rats chewed extensively the hosing and harness of our car housed in the garage and the repair work on that was $1600. Still cannot park car in the garage and rats are still active, continuing their rampage and damage of our home. The supervisor at Western has been fairly conscientious in trying to solve the problem without success. The clueless technician told us it could be a lizard. Interesting that we hear them at night and in the early hours of the morning gnawing and scampering around the attic, certainly not the typical behavior of a lizard.

I'm thinking about changing. We have used them for 10 years, and I never see them out here doing the work. We still have pests. I only use them because they seem to have come recommended.

Termite inspector found a termite infestation in one beam of the patio cover. The next day, a worker drilled several very small holes in the beam and injected the termite killing liquid into the beam until the termite cavity was filled. End of story - termites dead!

Estimator seem to find bugs where there were none before and talked to much. Didn't get to the point of what needed to be done without a lengthy explanation of history and the company.

They come out every two months. They charge way less than everybody else because I have been their customer for so long. They charge $58 for each time they come out. Nowadays, I think they charge $100 or so. When other companies approached me to provide their services, they were really surprised by the charge of $58. They attended to various pest problems in my previous house. In my current house, they do the regular pest control. They have responded to a lot of problems for me. They call me the night before they come out and they check for problems when they come out. I will definitely continue to use them in the future.

The inspector came and looked at the evidence, which was quite a build-up of termite damage. He said that we couldn't possibly have termites, that this damage was just from earlier on. I basically cleaned up the area and put down white paper and blotched it. Finally, I thought it was obvious that I had termites. The inspector still denied that I had termites, which I knew wasn't the case.

One morning while leaving for work, I noticed three small mounds of dirt next to my driveway - and a small animal popped it's head up! Gophers!!! I had heard about how pervasive they can be and how quickly. It took me two hours on the phone to find out that gophers don't fall under "pest control", but "animal abatement", by which point I found Western. They quoted $150 for immediate treatment and a 30-day warranty for further critters that might show up. Nice tech came out the following morning, did his thing, left little flags so I'd know where the treatment was made. Five days later I found three new mounds on the back of my property, which again he promptly treated. As of now .(6 months later), no further problems. Suggest keeping their name and number handy in S.D. area - "animal abatement" services are hard to come by

The bees are back and have also set up a new colony - only two months later. I will be given another estimate by Western soon and will get other estimates as well. They should have sealed the entry hole the first time.

The nests were under the second story eaves so my job had to be estimated first. When I accepted they came back and first sprayed the nests to kill the wasps and then knock down the honeycomb nests. The technician had to enter the house (they don't walk on tile rooves) so he could access the eaves through a second story window. The whole process took just under one hour and the technician knocked down several nests including three smaller ones I hadn't seen at first.The technician, Ramiro, was polite, professional, and easy to deal with. I've used Western in the past and would do so in the future.

Even though I went with somebody else, I felt like this company was a good option as well. They just didn’t have the agricultural certification I wanted. The quote was for about $700. They were very professional. The guy gave me a lot of time. I liked him a lot. I trusted what they had to say. I might use the other company since I really liked them. I would use this company if the other company wasn’t available.

They were excellent. I am happy with the price and I've had them for a long time.

They have been reliable so far, but I am not sure of the effectiveness or the dangers of the chemicles they use, something that is hard to monitor or report quality. We have problems with all types of bugs especially ants, spiders and roaches. I am sure we would see more of them without getting our house sprayed.

They were great. My son and I caught the 3 rats that were in the house. The company was the one that went all around the house and made sure that everything was closed up. They came back a few times after that. Everything was done really well and they kept coming back every week to check. I am sure there were no more rodents. The fixing, checking, and setting the traps were all included in the price. The guy came into the house and went up to the attic every time he came out. It was not an easy job, but he did it. They were very nice.

We had them to take a look at if we had any termites. They checked in the garage area and in some of the other parts and it turned out that there were some termites. They identified where the termites were located and treated it. They were pretty prompt and came when they said they would come. They were neat and did exactly what they said they would do.

My house was burglarized and ransacked. Avoid this company. The process started pleasantly enough. We scheduled the termite tenting, they came out on time... But we left their crew SPECIFIC instructions to turn on our home alarm system as they came and went during the 3-day fumigation process and they didn't do it. It's common sense that when you put a giant tent on your house, you're announcing to the neighborhood that you won't be home for several days. So you would think they should have experience with securing their customers’ residences. Instead, I woke up Saturday morning to frantic calls from a friend that he had called my home, the termite crew answered, and they told him that the house had been robbed. Did they call me directly or leave me a message? No. I have no idea why. When I rushed home in a panic to see what had happened, the fumigation crew was gone. They had left my window and back door WIDE OPEN with the house completely unsecured. Again, they didn’t set the alarm even after the robbery. They didn’t even stick around to make sure everything was okay. The entire house was trashed and my belongings where literally everywhere (I’ve attached photos to this review). And inexplicably -- the index card I gave them with my alarm code was left on a table right next to the window by the front door, visible from the outside! In other words, had they actually turned on the alarm (which they admitted that they didn't) it wouldn't have done any good since they left the entry code visible to anyone who came to the door. It's literally taken us a week to clean up the mess and catalogue what items were stolen. But so far it's looking like we're out possibly around $25,000 in stolen property. Add to that the few thousand in repairs for the damage caused by the burglars. I contacted the branch manager of the company hoping they'd do the right thing and help me out with the costs... And what was his answer? "Read the fine print on the contract. We're not liable." To be fair, he did say I wouldn't have to pay the additional $2,000 I owed for the fumigation. But they didn’t make this offer. I had to call him myself and request that I not have to pay. I also asked for my deposit of $1,090 back. He said he'd try to refund it. That was two weeks ago. I haven't heard from the company since. They haven't followed up to see how we're doing. And I haven't received my deposit back. Look -- I know that things like this happen sometimes. Yes, I'm extremely angry that they didn't secure our home as promised. But the unforgivable part was the company's apathetic response afterwards to a long time customer. Had they even attempted to make things right it would've gone a long way.

We've had them for several years and they do an excellent job. They are very friendly. Reggie is a very likeable individual.

They were professional. I will use them again.
