I first contacted this company 2 weeks ago to come out and repair my Samsung dryer which was in working order but not heating the clothes at all. Tom arrived, spent 5minutes, diagnosed the issue and said he needed to order a part. The returned with the part on Saturday, placed it into the machine and now the machine doesnt even turn on at all ( before it ran / drum turned but no heat, now doesn't even run/turn at all). problem appears worse.Said there was a bigger problem and needed another part. this one would take 7-10days to come in. he would call us. I waited 11days and called the company back. Secretaries are very nice. They said the part was in and that Tom would be by in 2 days ( Saturday betweem 11a-2pm). Tom never showed up. No phone call to cancel with me. I called the owner, Jim. He was very nice and apologetic. Didnt know where his employee , Tom, was. Didn't know whether Tom was working that day. Says he has 15 employees, but there is no central computerized schedule so he cannot tell me when Tom can return or where he is at that moment. Jim said he made multiple phone calls to Tom, but Tom was unable to reach Tom. Jim said he would personally get the part from Tom and stop by on Monday to finish the repairs. I called Monday morning asking when Tom or Jim would be stopping by. Th girls didnt know. Finally, by 4pm, Julie informed that both Tom and Jim would stop by between 5 to 6pm. At 630pm, I called the owner Jim who was veyr suprised Tom did not show up again. Jim was unable to offer an explanation . He was very sincere sounding and apologetic. he said he would presonally get the part from Tom this evening and come over to my home at night to finish the repair. He asked me to text him my address. At 8pm, Jim called me stating he received a undecipherable message from Tom stating that my and quot;dryer part was in a parking lot under a street lamp. I will keep looking for it and try to be out as soon as I can.and quot; At this point, I thanked Mr Southern for trying to help, and informed him I would be seeking a different company to finish the repairs
Description of Work: came out to my home twice , ordered a part, it was the wrong one, didnt get the dryer fixed. Ordered a 2nd part and then Tom, one of 15 employees, failed to show up on several scheduled appointments.

We also stay in constant contact with technicians so we can assist them with keeping every client up to date on their part and order status. While we only have so much control on how long it takes a part to get to us, we keep the clients up to date so that don't they have to wonder what the status is. We are also working to offer refunds if after a repair is done, a deeper problem reveals itself. We apologize to [Member Name Removed] for her unsatisfactory experience. We would also like to note we did not charge her and, rightfully so, we took a loss on parts and labor that we weren't able recoup. Never use this company. I have had ongoing issues with there follow- up. Never return calls until you get angry. Technicians do their own thing. Order parts but never tell anyone about it. They leave it up to the technicians to return calls which they never do or they do after you complain a number of times.
Description of Work: Made my dishwasher leak 10 times more than the original leak. Never received a phone call back. Never came back to fix the problem.

They came out the same day we called them. Overall it went great. We had to pay upfront but our extended warranty service company will reimburse us in full.
Description of Work: He diagnosed our Bosch Dishwasher and Decor Oven. He found the problem in the oven and told us the price before fixing it. He made some adjustments to the dishwasher and gave a paper with some washing tips so we wouldn't experience problems again.

Repair man came to house on Jan. 29th. He removed the back of microwave and said a part needed to be replaced, but he would have to order it. He said he'd be back in 3 days to replace the part. After 3 days I called and he said the part had not come in. I had to leave town the next day on business and said I'd call him when I returned in 9 days. I called when I got back and my call was not returned. After several calls over the next few days I finally reached him and he said he still didn't have the part. The following week he called and said he had the part and would stop by -- he never showed up. Same story the next day. Two days later he showed up --late -- and had the wrong part with him. He said, " I have the correct part on my desk and I accidentally grabbed the wrong one." He then suggested he take my microwave with him so he could fix it that night at his home. I let him take it. Finally, 3 days later, he returned with the microwave in working order. Total time of this ordeal was one entire month. Total cost ( + he claimed I was getting a $28 discount on parts and labor due to all the inconvenience) was $213.70. I could, of course, have bought a brand new microwave for less.

Our 11 year old washer broke down and we called Jim at South Coast Appliance Repair, who sent a repairman out the next day to examine the washer and give us an estimate for a $39.95 diagnostic charge. Unfortunately, the repairman had the flu and was in a hurry to do the job and leave. It literally took him 5 seconds to diagnose the problem, which was a simple part that held the drum in place, but with the labor, the cost would be $189. He wrote it up and came back two days later to fix it. After he left, I put a load in and, guess what, it was still not working. We called Jim, the owner, and explained what had happened. Jim came out personally the next day and said the repairman who had done the repair was in the hospital due to the flu. He admitted that had the repairman investigated further, he would have discovered another, more serious issue. Jim was very honest about the problem and the approximate cost to fix it and advised that we not waste the money on the repair. Not only that, but he refunded what we had paid for the repair less the $39.95 diagnostic charge. Jim was a nice guy, honest, and fair - so refreshing in this day and age. We would not hesitate to recommend Jim and South Coast Appliance Repair and will call them the next time we have an appliance needing fixing! R.S., Escondido, CA

Repairman came to provide an estimate. I was provided several options but did understand that that if I did a temporay fix, I would eventually have to go with the more expensive fix. He did not have the part needed with him for the long-term fix, but returned several days later to make the needed repair. There was a bit of and quot;phone tagand quot; that was needed to get the actual repair scheduled but once returned, the job was done quickly and the fridge has been working well ever since...

Jim was excellent in disassembling our machine and running multiple loads to determine to source of the leak. He showed us the inside of the machine, exactly where the problem was and provided a and quot;patchand quot; until we can replace the machine. He offered to do the repair but felt the machine was too old and didn't warrant the investment at this time. He was thorough, answered all our questions and took his time in teaching us about the function of the machine. We opted to limp through with this machine, which he advised we could do, as long as we didn't overload the tub. We intend to continue with South Coast Appliance Repair for any other appropriate needs. I've already lined up a visit for our outdoor heater. Excellent service from Jim Southern!

They never showed up to perform work.
Description of Work: I called on a Monday to set an appointment for Wednesday. I needed my dryer repaired. I called again on Tuesday to confirm my appointment for Wednesday. Then on Wednesday I called to confirm they were coming out and they said yes. It was getting late that day and so I called again to make sure that they were still coming and the office woman said yes. But, nobody ever showed up at my house that day so I was disappointed after being told so many times that someone would come to my house, but they never did. A few days later aA guy from South Coast left a message to call him back, but I never did. I'm very busy (just like everyone) and I didn't have more time to attempt working with this company. I had arranged my dad to be home for them, and they never showed.

The repairman was very pleasant, worked fast, described the problem and how to avaoid further problems. Inspite of being very shorthanded the day after Thanksgiving, he was able to fix my washer quickly.

We called because if we used the ice maker, we had water leaking in the freezer and caused ice build up. The first time I called, the response was good, and came within a few days. We discussed the price, as it is not a new refrigerator. He said he would repair ice maker and thought that would fix the problem. He had to order the part and come back the next day. Within a few weeks, there was again ice build up in freezer. I called again. Made an appointment for a Tuesday from 10-2:00 P.M. I called at approximately 1-1:30 to make sure they were coming, and was told they had made a mistake and had it on the schedule for Wednesday.So, I waited most of the day for nothing. As I was unavailable, we made another appointment for Friday. Again, I waited quite awhile, and when he finally showed up, said I had to defrost refrigerator (even though on the phone, I told them there was again ice build up.) So, he had to come back on Saturday. (Again late) He now said that it needed ANOTHER part (ancillary to the ice maker). I then said I would not spend $500.00 to fix this refrigerator. It now is worse than when I first called. We cannot use the ice maker without spilling water all over the freezer that causes ice build up. It is the same as before I spent all of this time and money on this repair. I do have to say that he is a very nice, likable man, and other than wasting my time and money, I believe he generally knows what he is doing. He should have been honest the first time, and recommended against the repair.

South Coast's dispatched technician was knowledgeable, friendly, professional, and performed the initial assessment and worked with reasonable speed once he arrived at-site. After several days passed, we called the service back because the refrigerator was still not cooling properly. Technician returned a couple days later and found the fan motor bad. Now with both parts replaced, the refrigerator is working properly. We expressed concern about the amount of time claimed on the original bill, and believe this was corrected by the bill for the second visit. Ultimately, we are satisfied with the service and will probably use them again. Our conversations with the main office convinces us that this company wants to earn long term customer loyalty.
Description of Work: 12-yr old refrigerator stopped cooling. Replaced refrigerator relay unit on first visit. After refrigerator continued to stay warm, replaced the fan motor on a second follow-up visit. Refrigerator now works again.

We have a dryer that had been in storage for about 8 months until we could put it into our newly renovated house. When we plugged it in and turned it on we noticed what sounded like gravel or sand slipping around in the drum. We could see nothing in the interior of the drum and were concerned that it was bearings, or loose parts, or ??? - we had no idea and didn't want to risk damaging the appliance by running it. I phoned the company and they slotted me in the very next morning. Jim called ahead to say he was on his way, arrived, checked the dryer out and told us that it was just sand that had gotten into the outer drum and, in time, it would blow itself out. He made sure there was heat and that it seemed to be runniing properly. He said we could spend big bucks having it vacuumed out, but it wasn't worth it nor necessary - and quot;why spend a lot of money if you don't need toand quot;. He also gave us advice about using this electric dryer given the cost of electricity in this area, and given the venting situation we have. Very helpful. He also charged us a lower service call charge since he didn't have to do anything. He was awesome! We're very happy with the service and would definitely call him again for any other appliances that may break down in the future.

I called South Coast to have someone come look at our dishwasher. I forget the technician's name, but he quickly identified the problem as a burned-out motor. He said he could replace it, but the cost would be such that it would be more practical to buy a new dishwasher, which we ended up doing. My one complaint was that the price for the service call was more than what was quoted to me over the phone. Overall, however, a positive experience and i would definitely use this company again.

AMAZING. I called at 9:30 and they sent Jim out within an hour. He met with my tenant, who explained the issue - freezer working just fine but fridge cutting out during most of day, coming back on at night but baarely - and then called me to discuss the problem. He explained EVERYTHING to me, which I appreciated very much. He explained that the hot weather we're experiencing is taxing the compressor so the compressor's override is shutting down the refrigerator to avoid burning out other parts of the appliance, and then it comes on, albeit weakly, once it has cooled down. He explained that most Whirlpools should last closer to 12 years but my compressor is on its way out. He told me the repair and replacement of the compressor would cost nearly as much as a new refrigerator and recommended I buy a new one, steered me towards whirlpool, GE and Kenmore, and advised against electronic display models and brands. THANK YOU JIM!!! His honesty and willingness to explain it all to me was refreshing. I will use them again and again.

Description of Work: Jim is absolutely amazing! We had just moved and our overly expensive ($8K) built in refrigerator stopped working. Jim came out that same day and discoved the problem and promptly fixed it the next day. He ran into another problem while fixing the frig and because he didn't quote that repari the day before he did not charge us.

I called the company at 10:00 a.m. Julie said she would call back in five minutes with an estimated time. In less than five minutes she called with an estimated time of 11:30 to 2:30 p.m. Jim Southern was at our house by 11:30 a.m. He diagnosed the problem and ordered the part. He planned to install it the next day, but the part was delivered sooner. He called at 4:30 p.m. and asked if he could install the part that evening. We were very happy to have the part installed ahead of time. Jim Sullivan is very friendly and explained in layman's terms what was wrong with our refrigerator and what needed to be done to correct the problem. The final cost was actually under the estimate he quoted that morning. I highly recommend this company.
Description of Work: The cooling system in our refrigerator was not working. The jazz board had to be replaced. The door was not properly closing and he fixed that problem. The refrigerator is seven years old.

He was supposed to be here the day before, but called me just before the appointment and told me his van had broken down. He came out the next day for the service. He advised me that since repaired it within five minutes he didn't want to charge me the full price, but he had to call his supervisor for approval. When he came back inside, he told me he had to charge me for the whole $189. When I spoke with the office, they advised they would send me back a check for $15, but I never got the check. Also, the next day when I went to use the dishwasher, it did not work again. I had to call someone else and they were able to repair it and install a new part for only $135.

Oven would not lite, have been putting repair off for some time. Now, with Thanksgiving around corner, decided to get it fixed. Called for repair in the AM and repaired by noon same day. Professional, courteous and reliable.

Their price is very reasonable. They give me good options and sometimes they'll even suggest that I don't do the repair and rather get a new machine. They are looking out for my best interest, not their billing.
