I recently had my kitchen remodeled. Out of several contractors I chose Kitchen Pros. I was very pleased with their service. They have a store front in San Marcos where they make the cabinets and I could see the different styles they had and different types of drawers that were available. That was very important to me. Mark, the owner, came out to my house and gave me several ideas of what I could do. He was very helpful, and I liked his presentation, so I hired his company. A couple of days later Ron came out and diagrammed my entire kitchen and took the dimensions. He said it usually takes five to six weeks to complete. They have a very large professional crew. This company has been in business a long time and that was important to me too. They showed up on time, we’re extremely professional and very friendly. Not once did I have any complaints. Their prices were right in line with other contractors that I had searched out. There was always somebody to contact if I had any questions. My kitchen was completely remodeled in less than seven weeks. I am so thrilled with what it looks like. I would hire them again in a heartbeat, and recommend them to any of my friends and family. I am so excited with my new kitchen.m ◦
It went exceptionally well! We expected from 3 - 4 weeks but it only took 2 1/2 weeks to get the work done and we are really happy with our selection of San Diego Kitchen Pro's to install our new kitchen.

Description of Work: Cabinets needed a reface. very pleased with the work Kitchen Pro's did for me. Kitchen looks brand new and they did is very quickly with a minimum of mess. Also had l/2 bath refaced and single door replaced with double door for improved access and appearance.

Cabinet work went well - they showed up on time and worked with attention to detail, and got it done in the timeframe they estimated. I did find a few areas where the white cabinet paint ended up on my brown walls, around the edges of where they were working. Nobody had checked or offered to repaint until I pointed it out, and fortunately I had leftover paint. My bigger issue, however, is that after the oven was installed, there were serious dents in my new hardwood floor consistent with a sharp heavy object, and right in front of the new oven, and the exhaust hood was not installed properly. Ron was on vacation during my job, and Mark was busy in San Diego, so nobody even came to see what was wrong, but Mark tried to tell me the floor was just normal wear and tear, which it isn't. The exhaust hood installation was another problem. The installer had to hard-wire it where there had been an outlet, because the hood didn't come with a plug on the end of the wires. He jerry-rigged a metal box and left it with only one screw to secure it and left a hole in the back of the cabinet where the old box had been larger than the new one. Instead of finishing the job, patching the hole, and checking to see if all was working well, he just stopped. When I insisted that it didn't look finished and sent Mark a picture (see below), Mark said it looked fine. When the installer DID come back, he kind of shrugged and said "well, I didn't have another screw long enough." And on his return trip, he did put in another screw and patch the hole, but only after I nagged and had to take more time out of my life to be here to oversee. Then a friend who happens to be a contractor stopped by and was looking at the exhaust vent and pointed out that it wasn't properly installed. The exhaust hood was venting into the kitchen instead of out through the duct. I called Ron, and without looking at it, but only talking to the installer, Ron insisted that it had been properly installed. I had to have my contractor friend talk to the installer to convince him to at least come back and look, and we were right - there was a piece that had not been installed that directs the exhaust into the duct. As I write this, 8 days after the job was supposed to be complete, I"m waiting for Kitchen Pro's flooring contractor to come look at the gouges in the floor. I haven't paid the final payment yet because the job is still not to my satisfaction. The cabinets look good and the exhaust hood NOW works properly, but it was a painful process and nothing can restore my almost new (2 months old) flooring to its original condition.

I contacted San Diego Kitchen Pros and 3 others about a quote for both options, but only 2 replied and came out. The SDKP representative called me back 24 hours later and said she would get back to me the next day, but really didn't called me back until 48 hours later. So after 3 days of waiting, she calls and explains that that she could schedule to have someone come out to inspect and give a quote, but would charge me $250. I was not only disappointed that she took so long, but also was surprised at the amount. I would have paid for a quote, but not this high and because it took 3 days for them to get back to me, forget it. What they didn't know, is that my insurance had agreed to replace my CUSTOM cabinets with the same quality and price. I'm glad I learned what kind of business they are now, because I imagine the problems I would have experienced if I gave them my business. In the end with my insurance agreeing to replace all my custom cabinets, I decided to use another cabinet maker that I found on this site with great reviews, super nice, very responsive and didn't charge me to come out.
Description of Work: I had a kitchen fire plus a lot of smoke damage and was asking for a quote to help me determine if I would need new cabinets or partial replacements. The insurance company at the time was still deciding on which option to go with. This gave me a chance to interview cabinet makers.
Demo and work was done very professionally and right on schedule. I am very pleased with the quality of work and would hire them again. The tile came out beautifully and I've had many compliments already.

Arrived as scheduled and had the construction job completed in less than 3 days, another couple days for painting and hardware installation. Eric is a master craftsman and his workmanship quality is absolutely the best! Even my usual contractor/handyman was amazed at his workmanship and speed. I can't say enough and so glad I chose them to do the job, as I had several other bids. When I asked a professional cabinetmaker (who does not do refacings) who had just completed a job at a friend's house who he would recommend for refacing, and Mark Oliver of San Diego Kitchen Pro's was his only recommendation.

One of the best vendors I worked it. We started with the kitchen first and then decided on working with them on the bathroom remodeling. I feel they may have more experience with Kitchens than bathrooms but overall the job delivered was exactly what we expected. Few small issues we identified during the process, however they were very good in fixing them on a timely basis. I highly recommend them.

It was fabulous. They did a full gut out of our kitchen and then, they did the bathrooms. In between that, they did my best friend's kitchen. Their experience went well and so did ours. They have a very good relationship with an appliance store in the northern part of San Diego, where we live. They take very good care of us because of Mark. They know Mark. We were missing one thing and the guys called. We were up in Northern California, away, and I called and they said, "No worries. We'll get it." I said, "You can't deliver unless there is somebody in the crew," and Mark, the owner, said, "Have it shipped to our office and we'll get it over there." Everybody said, "Why are you doing anything from a remodel standpoint and you're not onsite?" I said, "Because the first time, where I was onsite, it was fabulous, the way they took care of everything, the respect for our house." The parts they weren't doing anything on, they made sure that it was clean. So, I said, "I felt good." I was not onsite for the second one. It was great. With the first job, we did three bids as you should. With the second one, we didn't even go into a bid because we knew, based on what we got in the first one, that it wasn't going to change. Their quality and their price point is spot on.

SD Kitchen Pros are amazing. Mark, the president, met with us at our home and we explained what we wanted to do with the kitchen. He evaluated everything, taking his time to explain our options, and was able to produce a bid on the spot. We were so impressed right off the bat as it was obvious Mark and his company really knew their stuff. We had met with a couple general contractors before and they were very wishy-washy and took weeks to produce a bid. We knew we had found our crew. The execution of the job was perfect. They had a demo and plumbing crew in the first week, a re-facing crew the next, then came the painter and finally the plumbers came back to hook it all up. Ron was our main point of contact and he was awesome at answering our questions and making sure we knew what was going on and when. This was a major job and we never felt stressed or concerned about the work being done. We highly recommend SD Kitchen Pros.

We contacted the owners, Mark and Ron, who were extremely easy to work with. They helped us with the design and scheduling of the work. They laid out a schedule of work and stated that the kitchen would take approximately 3 weeks to finish. Our friends said "No way! Be prepared, it's going to take a lot longer." We moved back into our kitchen 2 weeks to the day that we moved out with only the tile back splash and painting (both projects not done by The Kitchen Center) to finish. We loved the schedule and that the workers tried to stay on it. We knew who was coming, what work would be finished each day. Our kitchen turned out better than we had hoped. What we didn't know when we got the bid was that it was only for the refacing, all the rest of the kitchen items were our responsibility: (appliances, granite, faucet, cupboard/drawer pulls). This felt like a little bit of "nickle and diming" as we did not realize all the costs that would add up. The total kitchen price was close to double the quote. I wish Mark would have been just a little more clear with those costs. Overall, this was a very positive experience. Next time, I would ask the appliance company to install all appliances rather than the Kitchen Center employee. He wasn't too happy to do it and ended up causing some "nicks" that needed to be repaired. Thankfully, Kitchen Center did take care of that for us. :) When I called to ask that they reduce our bill by the amount it cost to have the appliance company install our remaining appliances they did this for us. Fair and honest company.

Kitchen renovation. All kitchen cabinets were refaced, new cabinet doors and drawer fronts, new granite countertops and tile backslash. They also refaced a fireplace mantel to the same finish as the kitchen cabinets and gave it some shape. They also installed all the appliances, sinks, faucets, water filters, etc. Overall Mark Oliver and the Kitchen Center did a beautiful job. Mark and his granite specialists have a very good eye for cutting granite countertops to maximize the beautiful movement in the natural stone. Carlos stained the cabinets and blended the color at my house, creating several samples until I had the color I wanted. It is beautiful! Domingo installed the tile backsplash and worked with me to ensure I liked the design and layout of the tiles. The project manager, Les, did a good job in keeping the project moving forward. Les also pointed our to me that the fireplace mantel design Mark had come up with would have partially blocked an adjacent window. I was able to redesign the mantel to create a beautiful accent for the room which I love! | |There were a few issues during the job. It was supposed to take 2 1/2 weeks, but took 4 weeks from start of demolition until all the appliances were installed and the plumbing and electrical were completed and I could use the kitchen. During the work, some things needed to be redone: the granite installers dropped a piece of granite, scratching a cabinet door and breaking the bottom of the cabinet. They did not tell me they damaged the cabinet. I found the damage and had to request the kitchen center to fix it. There also were issues that I had to call the Kitchen Center to come back and fix: crooked drawer fronts, small seams and cracks in the granite that needed to be filled, an electrical outlet that did not set flush to the wall. They came back and fixed the issues without a problem. | |From the big picture, The Kitchen Center did a great job on my kitchen!!! I absolutely love the new look of my kitchen! They worked with me during the renovation to ensure I would like the end product. One thing they are not good at however, are the details. I had to stay on top of any issues and point them out so they could be fixed. Also, expect the job to take longer than the estimated timeframe. But if you stay involved in the project, I think you will definitely love the outcome! |

We are very satisfied with the work they performed. Work stayed basically on schedule and disruption to our home was minimal. Demo of old cabinets was done in two days and new cabinets starting going in on day two. Workers cleaned up every day before they left. Dumpster arrived on day 3 and was loaded and gone by the end of the first week. Les was the lead on the demo and cabinet installation. He let me know everyday how they were progressing and what would be done the next day. With just a few exceptions they stayed right on that schedule. Painter began on week two. He stained island and painted cabinets and crown molding white. It was a big job for one person and it seemed like he was a little rushed to get the job done. He did a good job and corrected any issues we had, I just think another person would have been helpful for the paint job. On the Saturday of week two the marble countertops went in. Installation went fine. We were very concerned about the marble getting a good coat of sealant. It seemed like the sealant coat was rushed slightly and after it dried water was not balling up on top but sinking in some. We talked to the tile guy and we ended up using a better sealer and now it seems to have a good seal. Tile guy came third week and installed marble backsplash. He did great and backsplash with design over stove looked great. Les also returned to complete appliance installation and installed handles on cabinets. Ended up with beautiful kitchen we are happy with. We really only had a few small issues and The Kitchen Center corrected any issue we had. I think the key is staying involved in the process and voicing any concerns. Overall very satisfied.

First off....this was the only company that we found that was able to do "everything" we needed to be done at a reasonable price!! After the estimate from Mark who was a really nice guy.. we thought it would be no problem to sign the contract and get the job started. Unfortnutely, Mark is a true "car salesman" and tells you what you want to hear! Our biggest concern was to have the old wallpaper removed, then repainted after the cabinet/counters were replaced and installed. It was suppose to be no problem and included in the estimate, but a few days later, he told us "Ron" (the person in charge)? said they couldn't do it? They credited the cost on the estimate and we had to get a sub contractor to do the work at an extra cost! First week went quite well. Les, the foreman was knowledgeable and good at what he did! Second week was nothing but waiting, waiting, waiting! Numerous calls had to madeto find out status!! Dumpster that was suppose to arrive and take the old cabinets and junk away did not arrive as arranged and the junk sat in our driveway for 3 days. The staining of the cabinets were done in our back patio rather than at their warehouse beforehand, which I thought was strange?? Not to mention the smell of the fumes in the house! (It was rather cold that day and the house had to be completely open with heater running!! ........Needless to say anything about my gas bill~~?? With that said...............All in All our kitchen remodel turned out pretty well considering! 99% better than it was before. I love most of it and can't complain, but must admit I am a bit disappointed in how the backsplash looks behind our stove! Not a big deal but not completely satisfied for sure! FYI: Buyer beware! Make sure your getting what you pay for and do your reseach/homework ahead of time on the company as well as the people in charge before signing a contract!! PS: We were told after the fact by several people that Mark IS the owner of this company even tho he says "Ron" is the HHIC and makes all the decisions?....... Go figure?????

After reading these comments I immediately called (deleted member name). We take our customer’s comments and their complete satisfaction very seriously. We do regret any confusion. The person referred to as the estimator is an employee and not the owner of The Kitchen Center. We will be reviewing this and going over what we can and cannot do for our customers. The staining of the woodwork is done at the cusomer’s location. We do it this way insuring that our customer has full control of the color in the light that their location provides. In speaking with (deleted member name), he states that he is very happy with the quality and overall look of their kitchen. Mark Oliver, owner/president
