+ -1 moreWe were very satisfied with the work done by the contractor and with all dealings with the contractor and his employees. Previous to the start of the contract work, we came up with a design and plans working with Kathy Shumate. We then researched six separate contractors, before deciding to use Professional Design and Remodeling. We felt their price was fair (although not the lowest) and we were very impressed with what we heard and saw when we checked out three references. Working with Mikal Shumate before and during the project. We had a good understanding of the work to be done before the project started. All work was done by his employees with the exception of measurement and installation of the quartz counter tops. His staff showed up promptly each day at 7 a.m., worked hard, were very courteous and did a good clean up at the end of each day. Almost every day, Mikal would visit the job site to check on progress, talk to his staff, bring us up to date on what was happening and discuss any questions or concerns that we might have. There were no surprises over the course of the work. The work was completed in one month; a much shorter period then we anticipated. This was largely due to good planning by both the contractor and the home owners.
Description of Work: Job started with demolition of existing kitchen cabinets, counter tops, black splash, stove, venting and light fixture in kitchen. Also enlarged opening above sink. Plumbing work included new plumbing lines for dishwasher, installation of under mount sink, faucet and disposal, bringing gas line to new range, and new waterline for refrigerator. Electrical work included installation of inlaid lighting in kitchen ceiling and over sink, under cabinet lighting, and new switches in kitchen and breakfast area. Installation of Kitchen Craft maple cabinets in kitchen and breakfast areas. Cabinets had melamine interiors with wood dovetail drawers on full extension slides with soft close feature. All drawer (including deep drawers) were pull out style. Installation of "Cambria" crushed quartz counter tops with 1/4 top and bottom edge detail. Installation of field tile back splash including decorative tiles. Installation of porcelain tile in kitchen, breakfast, dining room, entry and both bathrooms. Installation of range, dishwasher and over the range microwave. Haul away trash as necessary, daily job clean up and thorough clean up after completion of all work. Contract price did NOT include: Design and plans, appliances, plumbing fixtures, cabinet hardware, floor tile, painting and other minor expenses. These owner expenses brought the total price of the project to a little over $36000.
