About us
At Jerome's, it just feels a little different. That's because we're a locally owned family business with over 57 years of experience in Southern California. With our low pressure selling style, and friendly atmosphere, we think you'll appreciate the difference. But don't take our word for it–see for yourself.
I bought a couch from Jerome?s 2 ½ years ago and the bonded leather started cracking and pealing. It sucks because I love the couch but the quality is just horrible to be pealing this bad after just 2 years. Jerome?s customer service basically told me, hey it happens. No apology for a horrible product or any effort to help me out. I even got the 5 year insurance package that apparently is worthless because they wont cover it. I will never buy anything from Jerome's again.
Description of Work: I purchased a couch from Jerome's.

I moved to San Diego and was not familiar with furniture stores. My life was hectic due to a sudden relocation and did not have time to do research on furniture stores. I saw Jerome's Furniture on TV and visited the shop. In May 2011, I spent nearly $7,000 to furnish the entire house with Jerome's furniture and also purchased extra warranty by paying additional $300. Due to my job, I was out of town most of the time and nobody stayed in my house with brand new furniture from Jerome's. So, the furniture was not used much. A few months later, I started noticing that the leather couches were worn out- the leather surface looked as if it was heavily worn out for years. Because the couch was purchased only a few months ago and it was hardly used, I suspect that very poor-quality leather was used to make the couch. I didn't get a chance to contact Jerome's and the surface got worse even without much use. Finally, this June of 2012, I called Jerome's and reported the worn-out problem. Jerome's simply told me that nothing could be done because the 1-year store warranty expired and told me to contact the warranty provider, Guardsman. The couch I bought was also discontinued- due to complaints from customers, I suspect. I called Guardsman, who stated that it was not covered by warranty and would not do anything. Here is what I learned after wasting $7,000: First, Jerome's furniture has a very poor quality. They claim warehouse prices but you will find better prices elsewhere. Especially, if you want furniture that lasts for years, avoid Jerome's. Second, do research and shop around. I found out later that other reputable furniture stores have higher quality furniture with competitive prices. Third, the extra 5-year warranty is useless because the warranty company, Guardsman, will simply say that it is not covered.
Description of Work: I furnished my entire house with Jerome's furniture spending around $7,000; and deeply regret it. I wanted to report this sooner but just became a member at Angie's List one and a half years after the purchase. I am writing this review because I want innocent and uninformed customers to learn from my experience so that they don't waste their money, as I wasted $7,000. May 2011: Purchased 3 bedroom sets, 3 matresses, 1 dining set with 8 chairs, living room set with 3-seat leather sofa with electric recliners and leather love seat with recliners. Purchased Warranty to cover the entire furniture paying extra $300. October 2011: Started noticing heavy worn out on the leather surface of the couches. June 2012: Called to get service on the couch. Jerome's Furniture stated that it won't do anything because 1 year warranty expired. Warranty company, Guardsman, also denied coverage.

The service in the store was friendly and helpful; we felt like we were getting a great deal on our first new bed set. The kids bunk bed was cheap but we only needed it to last a year or so. When the delivery guys got here they were in two different rooms of the house at the same time and I had to watch the kid so I was unable to stand there and watch their every move. Things looked ok when they were leaving, but afterward I discovered they had left a ton of packing materials on my neighbors front lawn. Then I found an anchor screw missing from the ladder. I didn't think too much of that, stuff happens, and then figured that it would make it easier to remove the ladder to keep younger kids from climbing up when we had visitors. Here it is three months later and I went to tighten up the screws on the bunkbed - the bed had quite a range of motion going on. I thought the kids playing around had loosened screws. As it turns out, the delivery guy had damaged one of the railings to the point that a screw absolutely could not function, but instead of fixing it or calling in for a replacement he wrapped a ton of tape around the non-functional screw and shoved it in the hole. The tape held it in so unless you tried to tighten it (as I did) or move the matress to look at the backside of the rail there was no way to tell what was going on. I searched further and found another place where he didn't bother to install the screw or the hardware it goes into inside the rail - that one was against the wall so I guess he didn't have to worry about hiding it! As a result of the missing screws the entire bed is now riddled with thin, hard to notice stress cracks that I don't believe would have been there if all the screws had been installed in the first place. On top of all of this they installed four little brackets beneath the top rails that appear to be screwed into both the top rails and the side posts. Turns out they are only attached to the posts. What is that supposed to do? I called customer service and was told that the bed was not in stock so I would have to wait on the parts. The service rep acted sorry but was quick to point out Jerome's policy on reporting damages within five days. They will replace the broken parts but the cracks are "normal and not considered damage". Not going to get a replacement bed. Moral of the story - if you are determined to buy cheap junk from Jerome's be sure to first watch every single last move the delivery guys make, then go around double checking their work with an allen wrench or other applicable tool, and then report anything and everything the minute you find something because otherwise you are going to get the runaround. This wasn't just lazy, this was DANGEROUS. It was a cheap bunk bed but it would have been fine for our purposes if they hadn't destroyed it upon delivery for us.
Description of Work: Purchased a bed set (bed, dresser, nightstands) and a child's bunk bed.

Six months after I purchased them, there began to be a dip in the mattress. They sent someone out to look at it and decided to give us a full refund of the cost of the mattresses. I was very happy with that. I would use them again.
Description of Work: I purchased two mattresses from them.

AFTER CALLING THEIR MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT, I SPOKE TO SOMEONE WHO WAS VERY POLITE. THEY SENT SOMEONE OUT WITHIN 2 WEEKS FROM THE DAY I CALLED. THE PIECE THAT WAS BROKEN HAD TO BE ORDERED, SO IT TOOK ANOTHER 2 WEEKS FOR THE PART TO COME IN. WHEN IT DID, THEY CAME OUT THE NEXT DAY AND REPAIRED THE CHAIR. IT ONLY TOOK HIM 5 MINUTES TO COMPLETE THE JOB, THE CHAIR LOOKS GREAT AND I HAD NO MESS TO CLEAN UP FROM AFTER HE WAS DONE. I WILL BUY FURNITURE FROM THEM AGAIN.
Description of Work: THEY CAME OUT AND REPAIRED ONE OF MY RECLINERS THAT HAD A BENT PIECE ON IT.
