I strongly advise not doing business with Matt Clark. He has highly unethical business practices. He over ordered the tile. He charged an exorbitant shipping charge after the fact, which was not disclosed at the time of the order. We caught him in numerous lies. We hired Matt Clark to remodel our 2 small bathrooms. A very simple job. He somehow, with his "vast knowledge and experience", managed to order close to double the tile needed for each bathroom. He will not take the tile back stating that we signed a contract and it is non refundable, and that we determined the amount of tile to order. What!!!! He measured our bathrooms and told us how much we need to for the job. He sent us an invoice for 25% of the cost of the tile for the shipping charges. He said he gave us a great deal, 20% off the tile. When we went to Tile co they sold the same tile for less than our alleged "deal". Tile co helped us choose the trim, quarter rounds & pencil trim, that were left off the job by the most experienced tile guy in the county. If you want to be cheated and lied to then Matt Clark is your tile guy.

Response from MATT CLARK TILE & STONE

"We are disappointed that you had that experience when you came into our store and appreciate the feedback. We normally try really hard to serve everyone with equal attention and concern. This is not our normal service standard. We understand your perspective and hope to do better if we ever get the chance. We work best by appointment for larger sized jobs but we never want people to have this perspective in their first visit. So sorry about this."

We had already replaced our sidewalks and lawns with paving stones. They look great, are warm in the sun, require no mowing, and cut our water consumption in half. Our plain concrete porch and landing areas were stable with rebar, but were cracked from soil movement and slick in the rain. We wanted the entry to our home to look stunning. It was time to bring in the professionals.
Before we have any home improvement project done, we research our options and meet with multiple contractors. Matt Clark personally reviewed our plans and showed us various options. He then visited our home to examine the lay out and substructure. Once we had decided on a natural quartzite color palette, we met with him at his showroom to discuss the tile layout and design, technical details, and estimates. His creative suggestions were excellent because he approached the tile work as if it were a piece of art. He also suggested ways to protect both the new tile work and the adjacent concrete pavers. Matt’s prices and labor charges were reasonable and in line with other dealers we visited.
We placed the tile order, and the next week Matt began the project. He always uses base isolation (ditra) under the tiles so substructure cracks do not work up to surface tiles. Instead of laying 16 inch tiles from one corner to the far side in partial tiles, Matt made a 10 inch border and filled the center with the large tiles. He took the time to place each quartzite tile so that the whole look is harmonious, natural, and complete. It is striking.
Matt is a tile professional unlike many of the other dealers with floor sales clerks who knew little more than how “pretty” their products are. His store is a showcase of the variety of materials available. His staff is courteous, informed, and ready to help you plan or begin your new project.
Ours is only a 100 square foot improvement, but it looks like a million bucks.
