Contacted HRC on 09-21-15 and requested a date for an on-site visit to develop a bid for a new roof and solar install. Having not heard from them in over a week I left a 2nd request on 09-29-05, at which time we were able to schedule an appointment. On 10-07-15, the estimator arrived at my residence and was greeted by my daughter who explained I was unable to be present but would speak to him by phone. I spoke with the estimator while he was on-site and explained in detail what I was looking for and answered all his questions I was told no problem and I would receive my bid in a few days. After waiting six days I contacted HRC on 10-13-15 asking when I might receive my bid, I was told Friday evening on 10-16-15, odd time but sometimes I work late, too. Well, you can guess where this is going. On 10-20-15 I received a message apologizing for the delay and was informed my bid was ready but they needed my email address, (huh?) which I provided on the same day. Fast forward two weeks and guess what... I am still waiting. Really, why go to the trouble and expense of sending someone out to do an estimate if you don't intend on delivering it? You wasted your time...and mine. Not to mention how unprofessional the whole communication process was. At this point I am glad I did not receive your bid because I can only imagine, based on your history, how long or how many excuses you would come up with for delays in doing the work.

They actually show up on time, reasonably priced, clean up well daily, and most of all - honest! I wouldn't call anyone else.

Cris was a pleasure to work with, was on site regularly, and addressed all of my concerns about the aesthetics and quality of the job. When issues were encountered (electrical line running under the roof surface got cut accidentally), Cris immediately sent out the proper professionals to take care of them. He even sent a guy back once after the job was complete to address a couple of aesthetic concerns of mine. HRC was my best quote and did a job well done.

The entire job took 7 full days. Ghorban and Chris Hernandez where completely accessible coordinating the tear-off, and installation of the new roof with a minimum disturbance to our tenants. We are very pleased with the results. The roof has a lifetime guarantee with one-time owner transfer. Touch up paint was done at no extra cost. If you want good quality work, H.R.C. Roofing can provide it.

HRC offered the lowest bid of the 6 I received. After checking with Angie's list reviews, I decided to go with them and was not disappointed. They completed the work on schedule (although it was adjusted to take care of the dry rot) and cleaned up at the end of every day. Chris Hernandez and/or Fairiboz Ghorban, the two people with whom I dealt, clearly explained the changes to the scope of work for the dry rot repair and installation of attic insulation and were very accommodating of my work schedule when we needed to meet. The final clean up was meticulous,including some trim work I requested that they touch up near one of the gutters. I don't expect to need roof work for a long time, but if I did, I would contact HRC again.

Workers were on site at the agreed upon time. This was an old roof and it was a difficult job. Upon removing the tiles the workers uncovered extensive dry rot. We were contacted immediately and met with the company representative. Probable solutions and costs were discussed and a decision was made as to how to proceed. Following this, several other changes were made, each of which were estimated and costs presented. At all times the roofing representative Fariborz Ghardban was professional, patient and pleasant. He and the owner of HRC Roofing Chris Hernandez worked with us to assure out utmost satisfaction and to keep the costs down.

My wife and I are unrepentant perfectionists, which makes working for us a trying experience. If something isn't right, we expect it to get fixed without a lot of hassle. We expect people to do what they say they'll do....and do it well, if that's what they promise; having said that, we couldn't have been happier with Chris H. (owner) and his crew. It began with his main sales partner, Ghorban, who is the most accommodating and knowledgeable guy re roofing you could hope for. Their prices were very fair and included some nice extras. Once we decided to go ahead, Chris was on top of everything as the job progressed: watching, managing, checking in with us, making sure we were happy and the job was going according to plan. We made some adjustments along the way (added solar fans) which went smoothly. If something needed correcting, or we weren't quite happy with a particular piece of the job, Chris saw that it was corrected immediately. Chris was usually on site for a least half the day, then off to other jobs he had going with his other crew. By the way, the guys that work for him have been with him for years, are all quite experienced, have areas of expertise, and are very loyal to Chris -- who we experienced as a gracious, humble, intelligent, man who listens extremely well to your concerns and then makes sure they get dealt with. They delivered amazing, in process, customer service that seems so rare these days. If you need a roof, these guys are awesome. Unreserved recommendation. Ted B. 11/5/2012

I told him before he left that I appreciated his time but I was probably going to go with someone else. He left and I thought our business was done. I got a call from him about a week and a half later. I was busy and forgot that he called and never called him back. He called later, I answered the phone and I explained that I had decided to go with someone else. His attitude turned on a dime. He told me that I should have called him back. He was rude, wouldn’t let me talk. I ended up hanging up on him. I was stunned.

The people at HRC Roofing were very pleasant to deal with and completely professional. We had 2 other estimates that were higher but HRC offered the same service so we went with them. They did a great job and finished slightly before the estimated finish date. They arrived at the expected time every day and cleaned up the premises every afternoon before they left, including the balconies and even the lower yard, down a steep hill. The roof looks great as well as the new gutters. They also fixed some other small potential problem areas where leaks may have occurred before. So we are very satisfied with the results.

Let's start with Cris Hernandez (no relationship to Hernandez Roofing in Oakland), the proprietor of this company: he is good, honest, humble, polite, respectful, well-informed, experienced, and communicates frequently and clearly. He is easy to recommend to anyone. The Crew: there are two apparently. The one we had proved the Sun Tzu principle that it all starts at the top. They clearly take their lead from Cris, and he obviously only hires guys who fit his mold. The team leader for our job was Herbert. Every thing I wrote above about Cris applies to him. I'll also add hard-working, which applies to the whole crew. These guys worked 6 days straight in the first week, including on incredibly hot days without a single complaint. Super impressive group. The Project itself is described above. I'll add here that Cris promptly replied to my many emails and texts. When I would discover something on the internet, he'd research what I found and we'd discuss it. Many times he found an even better material or solution. When he brought wood in to mount the gutters and I told him I only wanted wood treated to repel termites, he gave me no grief whatsoever and very happily returned the wood, got me what I wanted, and didn't charge me extra for that. I couldn't imagine a better roofing experience and I was leery, as friends in construction have always said to be very wary of sheet rockers and roofers (and, of course, druggy painters!). These guys couldn't be more professional They did such a good job, in fact, that many of our neighbors are either getting bids from them or openly lamenting how bad the jobs they got for their roofs were now that they've seen pros do it right. Seriously. People walking by stop up to compliment us on our roof. This is a no-brainer recommendation. These guys simply are excellent!

I can't say enough good things about Hernandez Roofing Service. The owner, Cris, and his crew were pleasant, professional, efficient and skilled. I received an estimate within 48 hours of request. HRS made as much time for us as we needed to ask all questions and discuss concerns. Cris is responsive - whether by phone or email or in person. He explains things well and answers all concerns and questions to our satisfaction. He knows his products well and suggested a shingle color that turned out to be just perfect. He solved our roof's quirky problems expediently and professionally. The crew worked efficiently and finished ahead of the estimated time. I was impressed by the finish work - the flashing and the effort to paint the flashing and newly-exposed stucco surface. The work is excellent. When the job was completed, Cris met with us in person and ensured that we understood all the warranty information. I highly recommend Hernandez Roofing Service - it's an A+ company!

Cris, the owner, is very responsive and professional! I asked him to provide a quote, and within one day he met me on site. He was very prompt and courteous. The following Monday, he had a crew on site starting the work. I met him on site a couple of times during the work, and he was very accommodating with his time, answering any questions I had. At the end of the project, the crew spent several hours cleaning up the site, which included the use of a magnet to pick up any metal pieces in the yard. Cris informed me of a company discount that was ongoing, which saved me several hundred dollars. HRC's quote was slightly cheaper than two other reputable roofing companies that provided quotes to me (within a few hundred dollars). Cris communicates well. He sent me daily e-mail updates, sometimes including photos, of the work progress. He also sent me brochures of shingle and gutter colors and types available for me to choose. He met with the City inspector for the final sign-off, then waited several hours to meet me at our pre-arranged time so that he could provide me with warranty paperwork and anwer any other questions I had about the work. I would definitely recommend Hernandez Roofing Service for all of your roofing needs.

The work they did was great. They were very nice and very professional. They were in and out of here quickly, it was good. He gave me an estimate and he did not go over the estimate. He did a great job. He even did some extra little things. He doesn’t normally paint but because we already had the paint, he just went ahead and painted the headers and the wood that he had to replace. He cleaned up very well after himself. He took maybe three days total to do everything, but each day he left, he cleaned up around his area and made sure everything was back in order. Everybody else had a much higher estimate. His price was good. He is licensed which was great. The quality of his work was excellent. I would use him again in the future.
