REED BROTHERS SECURITY

After visiting Angie's list to preview possible locksmiths in my area, I called Reed Brothers Security. I described the problem of not being able to lock our front door and asked for a cost estimate. The quote was $108 for labor and 1/2 hour of service. I thought this was a bit pricey, but wanted a trustworthy locksmith with a stellar reputation. Therefore I was willing to pay for the additional cost. Also, they were located in Oakland and would be willing to cross the bridge to come to our Solano County home. I called on a Monday, and they were able to send a person out the next day between the hours of 10-12. Adam, the technician, called at 8am the next morning to ask if he could come earlier. I appreciated the earlier time slot and said that would be great. Adam arrived promptly at 9am as promised and came to the door card in hand. He was professional and knowledgeable. I explained the problem and he explained that it would be a quick-fix. In 15 minutes he was able to remove the lock, change the pins and lubricate the lock to have it in perfect working order. He also gave me some great advice on maintenance and offered the names of lubricants that should be used on the lock on an annual basis. I was much appreciative of the work - especially of being able to leave the house through the front door rather than the backdoor and through the garden. I would recommend Reed Brothers Security for the work performed and the professionalism of their technician Adam. My only hesitation is that the $108 was a bit pricey for the work done. But for a front door lock, I wanted to make sure I went with the best. Thank you Angie's List for being there and helping us find good companies.

I have had to use their services on different occasions. Their people are always prompt. They are professional and courteous. They make sure you are satisfied with their work. I have used them for years.

Reed was a little slow in responding to my initial email, and then response was basically "call us". The gentleman that came out to give me a quote was helpful and clear in his explanations. I was concerned about a long term committment on monitoring and he and the owner worked with me on this, which I appreciate. The technician installing the equipment was very knowledgeable but had some issues with responsiveness with the main office on monitoring setup so the installation took longer than expected. I had some issues with the accounting office on acknowledgement of the 1st 6 months monitoring fee I paid when I initially agreed to the installation, but they eventually found it and were apologetic. I've only had to phone the monitoring service once with a question but they were very helpful. I think this is a good company overall and I like that they're local.

What kind of alarm company doesn't respond to it's 800 number and has a loop on their answering machine? Based on Angie List ratings I tried to call this company 3 times with no success. Twice to the 800 number, where I left a message. Then once to their local number in Oakland. I press 2 for alarms and went straight into a loop which terminated the call. Despicable. What would happen if your loved one was depending on the response. For this reason, we'll contact another company. This should not be an A rated firm.

I called for a family member whose car was broken into at a playground and house keys were stolen. We've used Reed before for our business and thought they were OK, but pricey. Tonight a tech came within 30 minutes of my call, rekeyed 7 locks and threw in a missing part for free. He was professional, efficient, and friendly. The "key" for this call was the great peace of mind that he delivered for a reasonable price. Will definitely call Reed Bros. again.

They were good. The price was minimal. It was reasonable. Their professionalism, punctuality, friendliness, and efficiency were all good.

Pretty much a perfect experience. I got a next-day appointment that happened to coincide with another contractor's visit, so I didn't have to take a lot of time off work. The locksmith (Doug) showed up within the appointed window, gave me solid advice on exactly what work should be performed, and did it quickly & professionally. (Turns out, he's also a neighbor, and gave me some insight as to what the house was like before I bought). Pricing was completely fair, esp. to have someone stand behind the work. Highly recommended.

Reed came right away to go through the house and make an initial evaluation. They put mesh over a vulnerable window a few days later and also installed a better deadbolt lock. We were given a date for the security system installation and Reed came on the right date and at the agreed time. The workers were polite, efficient and diligent. They cleaned up carefully, and then showed us the features of the system and explained how it worked and encouraged us to call and ask with any questions or problems. They gave us remote control devices so that the system could be armed or disarmed from outside. The customer service was excellent, and we felt comfortable that the monitoring would be well handled.

Contacted vendor for an estimate, estimator showed up on time, however the quote did not come until after repeated calls and 10+ days later. Estimate was highest among 4 vendors.

It was wonderful. It was a holiday and I was worried about them even coming out on a holiday. But their price was reasonable and they were very good. He was very nice and he gave me several choices on locks that went from bottom price to high price. They all had different features that he explained and it was very helpful.

They did just fine and knew exactly what we needed. They were on time and I will use them again in the future.

I had two occasions to have boarders move from my home unexpectantly and needed the locks changed as all of the external doors used the same key. Icontacted Reed Brothers and they were very prompt, professional and helpful in changing the locks on my home. Both times the locksmiths came out within 2 hours, as they stated, assessed the situation and chnaged the locks quickly and correctly. The locksmiths both gave me options that I had in the types of locks that would be most appropriate for my home and based upon my budget the best options I had. They were both very neat, expeditious with changing the locks and exceptionally polite. I will continue to use them for all of my security needs!

They are timely, neat and did a good job. The price was fair and the quality of work was excellent. They were on time, very professional and I will use them again in the future.

I had put in a request via their website for an appointment and never heard back. However they showed up on the day I requested at 9 AM and I was not expecting them since they had not called to confirm. I'm glad they showed but would have been nice to have known that they were coming for sure. I had forgotten to print the Angies List coupon so I didn't get the deal offered. Next time I'll make sure to print the coupon and have it ready. They were able to fix the lock within an hour and explain what had gone wrong.

Everything wen t smoothly on all occasions. They were friendly and professional, priced failry for their level of service. They have everything in their trucks were prepared and offered me different color keys for different rooms to help us differentiate the interior door keys. I would certainly call them again.

We decided to work with this company because they are local, have a great reputation, specialize in "generic" alarm systems that any service can monitor, and don't sell their monitoring to third parties. The technician arrived on time, but even though the folks at the main office were confident that they could monitor our panel, he was unfamiliar with it. He had to go online to study the product documentation to figure out how to get it to send monitoring signals. We had a concern about this, as we felt it was not really fair for us to be charged an hourly rate for "learning time". We called their office while the technician was onsite in our house and they agreed to lower the fee somewhat based on our concern. The technician was finally able to connect our system to their monitoring center, and also determine that the sensors on the windows could not be connected to the existing "brain box". He offered to give us a quote for a new "brain box" that all the sensors could connect to, but after getting our two-year contract written up, he forgot to give us the quote. Overall, our experience is positive; we feel that the only area where they could improve is in the communication skills and preparedness of their onsite technicians.

In the end it worked out OK, just required extra visits.

We didn’t use them. They came out and gave me the bid. It was good. They quoted me $750 for the two iron railings and $1500 for the security gate. The guy who came out for the bid knew what he was doing. It seemed like a good bid and the quote was reasonable. We just ended up going with another company. They did exactly what they said they would do. I would consider using them in the future.

The technician came at the VERY end of the two hour window they gave me. Not technically late, but still added up to two hours I was waiting around. From then on, however, the experience was very positive. The technician replaced the lock, was happy to answer all my questions and explain how everything worked, and gave me the information I needed to replace the emergency release lock myself.

They were quite efficient, came on-time and advised as to the issue and asked how much work I wanted done. They made it very clear what I could do inexpensively and what I could do that would cost me much more and all options in between. Very impressed with their professionalism and never did I feel that I was being pressured into "buying" more service.

They were very good and we were very satisfied with what they did. The person who came out was good, polite and professional. He was responsive to questions. He did what he said he would do and we have had no problems with the doors after the work was done.

Dave did the original install. Very pleasant. Great attitude. Efficient. After a month, one of the doors wouldn't open because one of the new door knobs wouldn't retract. Hardware failure. Jaime from Reed came out the next day and quickly fixed it at no charge. Very professional, very responsible. I'd definitely recommend them to others.

I thought their service was excellent.

They were good. Their price was normal. The quality was good. They were responsive, punctual and professional. I would use them again in the future.

They are just a hop, skip, and a jump away. They were really expensive, but they did good service. I think they are competent. A company we trust sent us there. I don't know if I would use them again just because they are so expensive. They seemed to have that element of a guy's club where you go in and they are in the know and you are kind of standing on the outside. I didn't it find very pleasurable. I can't say that they did anything not to represent themselves. They were punctual. If I wanted more locks like the ones I have, it would be logical to go back to them.
