Dimond Plumbing is the absolute best! Michael is extremely fair and very reliable. When he says he's going to do something he does it. His son is excellent as well. I mentioned to Michael and I forgot to use my senior discount last time and he went ahead and took it off the bill this time! I can't say enough good things about Dimond Plumbing.

We found pricing to be high. Business has good reviews on Angie's list. The angle of the ice maker water line is less ideal than we suggested/requested. Also did not like the angle of the main water shutoff valve as it is not in line/square with the house as requested. We requested a quote for the placement of an earthquake valve and they stated $450 for this. We have a quote now from a licensed contractor for $250 just as an example for pricing. The business seemed professional but we went with lower bid. After our initial review the owner contacted us out of concern that we were not happy wanting to rectify the situation so appreciated that they followed through with contacting us.
Description of Work: Installed laundry box with hammer arrester. Cut open wall to expose pipes (we requested to be able to see pipe positioning) removed old box and replaced, ran water to icemaker for fridge from crawlspace in kitchen, installed 1" shutoff valve on main water service.

Extremely well!! Michael is the owner and Kit did the work at our home. They are both great to work with! Extremely accommodating!
Description of Work: He removed an existing toilet bowl downstairs. He then took the upstairs toilet bowl and washlet and relocated it downstairs and installed it and the washlet. He then installed a new toilet bowl and washlet upstairs. He did this in very close quarters as I recently had a walk-in shower built and there was not a lot of extra room for the installation of the bowl. He had to remove a shut off valve handle for the master bath toilet bowl due to lack of space, but he took the time to explain to us how we could still shut off the water supply using a screwdriver, if need be.

Placed a call to Dimond Plumbing and got a quick response from Michael Patrick (owner?) We scheduled a time for him to be here. On the morning of the schedule date Michael called and left a message that they were running behind about 30 minutes due to a quick response they had to make at another customer's house. No problem. Within the half hour one of Mike's other plumbers showed up. He was pleasant and made an inventory of the work to be done. He went out to his truck and came back with an estimate of the work. I remember that it seemed on the high side, however I didn't question him and signed the work order. In hindsight I should have asked for a breakdown on the estimated labor and parts costs; what he gave me was a lump sum number. He then left to purchase the parts and returned within 30-40 minutes. He performed all of the work efficiently and then showed me all of the corrections. My only slight issue is with the charge still seems high. He arrived at about 9:30am and was done by noon. 2. 5 hours. The parts he purchased could not have been more than $40 which leaves labor costs of $435. At 2.5 hours that comes to $174/hour. I guess there would be some charge for mileage/gas. . .but the hourly seems way high. Even though the work was performed satisfactorily and service was prompt I am not sure I would use Dimond again. There must be good plumbers out there in the East Bay who work for less than $170 per hour.
Description of Work: We had two sets of valve washers replaced at a shower and a sink. Had parts replaced in kitchen sink faucet and had old rigid supply pipes replaced on top of the water heater with flex piping. Also corrected a problem with flush mechanism on one toilet that hung up sometimes when flushed.

Very smoothly and quickly. Plumber did have to go and get the correct brass part as it was not present on his truck. The fixture he installed is of solid brass and of high quality as opposed to the original part which was composed of very cheap thin plastic.
Description of Work: Our house was remodeled by a flipper who used the cheapest possible plastic plumbing fixtures wherever possible. In the guest bathroom, he used a very cheap plastic trip lever pipe and mechanism to open and close the sink stopper. The plastic had broken in a way that I could not understand and thus did not know how to fix myself. The plumber from Dimond was right on time and saw the problem immediately, showed me what had happened, and replaced it with a good high quality brass fixure which will probably last forever.

The plumbing under the sink leaked, just a little, but it was clear this was not a do-it-yourself repair. I called several plumbers on Angie's List, but they were all very busy that day and could not come to our rescue. Dimond reorganized their work schedule to visit immediately. We were not surprised to find that the small leak we could see was indeed a much bigger problem behind the drywall. The elderly pipe was in bad shape, and had been leaking for a long time. After discussion, we allowed him to open the stucco wall to install a clean-out. After a hard afternoon's labor, the plumbing is repaired, the ancient drains reemed out, debris cleaned and removed. All is well. The bill was quite reasonable for so much labor.
Description of Work: Replaced rusted, broken pipe under the sink, removed an obsolete garbage disposal, drilled into the stucco to install a clean-out. Also a thorough clean of the old drains until the water ran vigorously out to the sewer. There was a lot of repair work needed.

This is the fourth time we've used Dimond and again the fourth time we've been very pleased with their service. They were out a year ago to repair the old water heater in our newly purchased home. They did a great job and kept that decrepid old thing chugging along for us until we were able to afford to replace it. The second and third visits were to replace the toilets in both our bathrooms. The new ones are beautiful work perfectly. This fourth service call was to remove one of the old bathroom vanities and install the new one along with all plumbing fixes for a new sink. The job was done to our satisfaction and the new vanity looks and functions beautifully! We will continue to call on Mike and Kip at Dimond Plumbing for all our plumbing and heating needs!
Description of Work: Installed new bathroom vanity and sink. Removed horrible old one and corrected hot and cold to the correct locations

When using the shower upstairs, water would back up the 1st floor wet bar sink and overflow. We tried plunging, but that was not effective. They came and snaked out a large clot of hair. Problem solved.

Two days ago, the furnace again refused to fire, so I called Michael yesterday morning, and AGAIN he came by the same day. He spent about twenty minutes in the basement and when he came upstairs, he apologized and told me that the gas valve he'd installed barely three weeks before had failed. I may be a cynic, but I was stunned by his honesty. The furnace is almost 100 years old, for heaven's sake. He could have blamed the problem on just about anything, and it's likely I would have believed him. Instead, he demonstrated his extraordinary character. As I prepare to sell my home and leave the Bay Area, I've complained to friends about how much I'll miss my doctor, my dentist, and my hairdresser. Based on this experience, I'll be missing my plumber, as well. Do yourself a favor. Call him. This is a man who DESERVES your business.
Description of Work: I own a home that was built in 1917, and the furnace is the original gravity model, so it too, is pretty long in the tooth. In January of this year, for the very first time since I bought the house 25 years ago, I had a problem with it. Based on Angie's List reviews, I contacted Dimond Plumbing. The owner, Michael Patrick, responded promptly and replaced the pilot assembly for $185, which I considered to be a very reasonable sum. When I started having problems with it again in mid-May, I called him again, and again he responded promptly. That time, it needed a new gas valve, along with a couple of related parts. Those repairs cost me a total of $525.

It was a great experience. It wasn't an emergency, so when I made the appointment and they asked if it needed to be done that day, I said no. The appointment was made for 2 days later, they gave me a 2-hour time window, and he showed up promptly at 10 am, and worked for about 90 minutes on my sink. When he was done I asked him to look at a garage sink, and he replaced the washers in that sink, which took about 5 minutes. Polite, courteous, professional. The work looks great, and no more leaky sink! I'm very happy with the work, and I'd definitely call them again.
Description of Work: I had a leaky bathroom sink. I didn't know the source of the leak. They came when they said they would, and basically redid the drain, pipe trap, and tightened down the faucet.

The house, built in 1917, has been unoccupied for more than a year. I arrived in the Bay Area last night, and since I have my PGand E bill sent to me in NY, I was completely surprised when I found the house cold and dark. PGand E came out and restored the gas and electric, but the tech was unable to get the pilot lit. I called Mike this morning, and explained my predicament. He made no promises, given the age of the furnace, but offered to come by and at least assess the situation. He showed up precisely at the promised time; quickly diagnosed the problem; and fired up the furnace in nothing flat. I'm grateful for and impressed by his integrity, and pleased beyond measure with how quickly he was able to get the job done. I would recommend him without a moment's hesitation, and use him again in a heartbeat.
Description of Work: Mike replaced the pilot assembly on an almost 100 year old gravity furnace, and now I'm gratefully enjoying the fruits of his labor.

By far the most satisfactory performance in our home-rejuvenation project. I thought the estimate was steep at first, but after it was complete, it was worth it. This was quite a big plumbing project; the whole thing took a full day. Technician is Kit. I will do my best to describe the job. I may be using the wrong words here to identify the specific plumbing items. Shower Trim Install: We have a 3-hole knob for the shower/tub - cold, hot, and the diverter. The pipes are jutting out unevenly; one side is jutting out further than the other. Kit used a spacer to remedy this. Fix leaks: Turned out to be easy fix. He replaced the valves and supply line at the toilet, and the leak stopped. On the bath sink, the P-traps piping was incorrectly installed at an angle. Kit corrected it and he also installed new valves and supply line (maybe the supply line, I can't remember, sorry). Replace kitchen sink and faucet: At first we thought it was just a simple "out with the old, in with the new" sort of job. Turned out that all the piping under the sink had to be replaced too, to match the new sink. Garbage disposal is fairly new so that wasn't replaced. So this alone took 3+ hours. No damage to our tile countertop, even though our new sink is cast-iron (very heavy!) and Kit installed it by himself. The under-the-sink area now looks a LOT cleaner and more organized. Kit also re-routed the dishwasher piping because we don't have an "air gap", so that if the drain clogs, the water doesn't get re-routed to the dishwasher (we're not going to use the dishwasher). After Kit left, though, we found a leak underneath the sink, so he returned a couple of days later to fix it, and voila - no problem! As a goodwill gesture, Kit also replaced the main water shut-off (outdated and previously fixed with "patch-up" effort) with new ball-type valve at no additional cost, checked our room heater and water heater. I would highly recommend Dimond Plumbing!

The proprietor is Michael Patrick. My experience with them was excellent from start to finish. He was clean, on time, and conscientious. He got everything done. We didn’t even know he was here. I never had a problem with him. He is young and has high integrity. I am thinking of calling him today. I would recommend him to others. He did research and kept calling and checking in. He is a man who deserves a lot of business.
