It appears Sterling Appraisals has struck again and again in numerous counties throughout California. The company has active licenses to do business in California in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Orange Counties as well as in the Inland Empire, the South Bay and numerous other jurisdictions too numerous to list here. My partner and I are in the midst of refinancing through Chase Bank and it assigned Sterling to conduct the appraisal of our duplex. The original cost was estimated as $695. Well, the charge will never appear since the work was never completed. On or about 10:05 a.m. on Monday, September 10, 2012, an appraiser named Bill arrived to conduct the appraisal. My partner met Bill at the door, and Bill asked for me. My partner indicated that I was getting ready for work, but I should be available in a few minutes. Bill did not respond and proceeded to walk down the driveway toward the backyard and mumbled, "I'll take some measurements outside." Bill did not exemplify professional behavior, but I should have known something was wrong when he appeared dressed as if he were an inspector. Bill began taking measurements in the backyard. He went to southeast side of the property and began taking measurements. My partner warned Bill that he was close to a beehive. Bill continued to take measurements near the same spot, and my partner issued a second warning. After hearing my partner's second warning, it became rather obvious that Bill was perturbed. He shouted, "Would you just shut the _ _ _ _ up and let me do my job!" Bill's response caught us by surprise and we knew we would never receive exceptional work product if we were to tolerate this horrible behavior. My partner asked Bill to leave and without a word of apology, Bill packed up his measuring equipment and left our home. He uttered no apology and behaved as if he were doing us a favor by showing up on a Monday morning to conduct an appraisal. There is no explanation for an employee like Bill to behave in this manner. It reiterates that Sterling Appraisal, Inc. tolerates and condones this behavior. My partner was able to reach a supervisor to obtain the address of record for Sterling. He was told, "We do not provide the actual address, but please forward mail to this address." The representative provided an address to a post office box. This is the type of customer service exemplified and condoned at Sterling Appraisals, Inc. owned by Mr. Charles Dotson. This behavior should not be tolerated, but Sterling supports this lack of professionalism in its daily practice. I wholeheartedly recommend Sterling if you wish to be ignored, berated, and made to feel incompetent in your own home.
Description of Work: The company was scheduled to conduct an appraisal of the owner's duplex.

Appraiser took about 15 minutes to pretend to do measurements and actually appraise the how. Awful experience.
Description of Work: Appraiser showed up dressed very unprofessional. Pretended to take measurements. Asked few questions. Never got a report. Wanted to come back out to finish appraisal for an additional 125.00. Avoid this unprofessional mess.
