We are very happy with the efficient service we got from Excel and will be using them again for improvements to our home.

Wow! A big thanks to the gentleman at Excel Electric. I called about a service call and he spent 5 minutes educating me on quick strategies to do it myself before he comes out. In an age of money hungry truth benders, this was a pleasant surprise. His advice was free and it worked so I didn't need him.I sure did appreciate his honesty! Thanks Angie and Excel Electric!

They were really super nice, took care of the issue within a half an hour and really knew what they were doing!

The electrician arrived right on time and installed the fan in one hour. He left no mess and took the old fan for disposal.

They were awesome. We used them about three times in the past years. They met the expectations. They were on time and they did the work required. They were very thoughtful and considerate. We took some photos and sent it to the technician. From the photos, he was able to help coach us through on how to reset the circuit breaker of the house. They're just accommodating.

We tried so many electricians and most never showed up. One electrician came out, replaced one GFI for $150 and left. We had the same problems three days later. They never showed back up after we called several times. We found Excel Electric on Angies list. The returned our call, set up an appointment and showed up. ON TIME!!! Trouble shooted our problem, gave us a quote and fixed it that day. We now have the number of an electrician we can use over and over!! Thank you Excel Electric and thank you Angie's list for helping us solve our 5 year electrical problem in one day!

I called this group based on reviews. I had an electrician that I normally used, but he was unavailable to do a job, which needed to be completed by a certain time (we're converting a room to a media room). The install took two days. They were punctual when they said they were coming out. They started on a Friday. I did have to call them on Monday to find out what the remaining schedule was going to be, and they were able to come back out on Tuesday, and finish the job within that day. They were very clean with their work (I worked with Justin and Brian). They cleaned up after themselves, also prepped the area properly before doing work. They worked well with the other contractors (we had a group from Magnolia out installed AV components). They minimized on any drywall damage whenever possible. (There was one gouge near a light switch plate, where they cut into the drywall, but it was not avoidable as they were originally trying to fit a bigger wall plate on that wall, and then realized afterwards that it was not possible). Even though I didn't get any competitive quotes, I believe their pricing is reasonable. It's very straight forward?just time based on their hourly rate, and materials. Some people may want a quote with a set price, but I think this pricing structure is also fair. They also let me know approximate costs as they were progressing through the job, so that I was prepared and understood where we were. I knew from the beginning that they charged a straight hourly rate. NOTE: They can give you rough estimates for time so you can know enough if you want to do a job or not. They gave me rough estimates for installing the media room fixtures, and installing the lights above the garage door, so that was helpful. Speaking of the price?after the job was completed and I paid them for their service and they left?I was reviewing the invoice. I thought I was over-charged (for time), so I immediately called the owner, and told them about my situation. He immediately called me back and was very eager and agreeable to resolving my issue. He offered to have them come back and collect a revised payment check if needed, and apologized for any errors on their part. But as we reviewed the invoice together, I realized it was a mis-understanding on my part (the invoice was true and correct, and I was not over charged as I originally thought). My point for mentioning this, is that I was very happy with how quickly they responded to my concern, and how agreeable and willing they were to resolve it (even though it ended up being a mis-understanding on my part). Overall, I'm very happy with their service. We've had a lot of different contractors work on our house throughout the years, and this group is right up there with the best that we've experienced. I really don't have any complaints.

Very well. The technician was done before I knew it. He had replaced the fixture and boxed the old fixture for disposal. He even offered to dispose of the old fixture for me, which surprised me, because I've never had that offer extended to me before from any service company. All in all, a very good experience!

Wow! This company deserves and A++ in my book. They exceeded my expectations on several fronts. First, they were extremely responsive. I emailed them Wednesday night and requested a call back Thursday to make a service appointment. The owner, Tom, called me at 7 am on Thursday. I explained the problem and that I was only available in the morning. He had an electrician at my house by 8:15 am! Mike was the electrician who arrived (on time!) and he went right to work trying to diagnose the source of the problem. In just about one hour, Mike diagnosed the problem and fixed it. But here is the proof that Excel Electric is honest, ethical and a company you should call! A week prior I had a different company out to my house. After 4 hours the electrican (who happened to be the owner) could not find the source of the problem. This other company said I needed to have a large section of my house rewired. It would take about 1 full day and require cutting into walls in three or four rooms of my home. The estimate provided by the other company was $1500. This other company said that electrical wires start to go bad after 25 years and my home is 27 years old. This electrician never went to our rooftop deck, let alone tested the electrical outlets on the rooftop. I was ready to schedule the work. But my husband wanted to have another company take a look before we cut up our walls and spent $1500. I'm so happy I listened to my husband! I am beyond thrilled with my experience with Excel Electric. If we have a need for an electrician in the future, Excel Electric will be my first call!

I contacted three different companies that all had great reviews on Angie's list for estimates. Excel Electric was the most responsive, showing up that same day to give an estimate. The other two companies took another day or two each to give an estimate on the same work. After I received all three estimates, Excel was by far the cheapest and gave a one day time estimate for all the work while other companies gave as much as a three days estimate. After I hired Excel, they scheduled to do the work the first day that I was available, which was just 3 or 4 days later. They arrived promptly at 7am as promised. They sent two guys to do the work, both or who were very professional and explained everything to me whenever I had questions. They worked straight through the day and completed all jobs (including cleanup) by 3pm. They even noticed that whoever had done the wiring before had put by outside fridge on the same circuit as all the bathrooms and the outlet for the TVs in the bedroom. They put the new outlet that they installed on a dedicated line and put the outdoor fridge on another dedicated line. They didn't even charge me extra for fixing those lines. Excel Electric was punctual, did this job quickly, was professional, hardworking, and completed it faster and more affordably than I would have imagines. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone needed electrical services.

Prompt, friendly service. Worker was so fast, the job cost several hundred dollars less than I thought it would. Friendly, knowledgeable, staff accommodated our last day of the month (for the new tenant) request and stayed till the job was complete, working around a carpet laying crew.

The job went okay, except I ended up having the same symptoms last week, and I had to call out another company. They are a local, family owned business in the area.

Excel is EXCELLENT I contacted the owner of the company and informed him of my need to modify the main panel in my home. He came to the house the same day, evaluated the job, and gave me an estimate. His crew arrived three days later on time. Completed the job in less then the estimated amount of time. Cleaned up the work area. Walked me through all they had done and made sure I totally understood the completed project. Excel is a company I have used in the past, have recommended them to neighbors, and will use them again.

Everything went great. I would surely use them again in the future.

This was the first time I have ever used Angie's list. I was a little concerned in choosing an electrician because I wanted someone I could trust to do a good job and bring my home up to code. There was a live, 200 volt wire hanging in my garage (found by the home inspector) that I was eager to take care of as it was a dangerous issue. After searching Angie's list and Yelp, and contacting a few possible electricians, Excel Electric sounded like a good choice because of their ratings on these sites, and the fact that they are currently contracted to do work with the City of San Juan Capistrano and have completed work for the cities of Dana Point and San Clemente. The owner Tom, actually spoke to me on Memorial Day via phone very shortly after I entered my contact information on their web site. Later we set up a time to do the work and Tom was very accommodating as far as the time they could be available. Tom's employee Josh came out and systematically fixed all electrical issues on the inspection report with expert knowledge and precision. Not only did he fix all issues within a span of 2.5 hours, he also answered many questions about different electrical items around the house that I didn't understand about, such as the electrical piping in the backyard fence. Despite these questions, which provided me with a lot of valuable information, he never lost a beat on fixing the actual issues on the inspection report. All of the issues are now fixed. This company knows what they are doing. The customer service was great and the fee was small in comparison to the value they provided. I highly recommend Excel Electric for their expertise! I used a coupon offered by the company on the service that ended up providing about $27 in savings--and I only paid about $8 for my Angie's list annual membership so it paid for itself and more on the first use.

This contractor did an excellent job. The installer hooked everything up in a professional manner, with all wiring and conduit placed out of sight as much as possible. Hooked up the LED motion sensor lights to cover the front yard and driveway. Took the time to explain what he did and how everything worked. Was on time, friendly, and the price was as quoted to us. We also asked if he could troubleshoot our low voltage lighting system in the yard. He did so at no additional charge and gave us good suggestions on how we could fix it, or Excel could do it if we wished. We will definitely call this company again for any future electrical work!

Mike from Excel Electric did an awesome job. I didn't expect anything else but great job. I knew I wouldn't be disappointed since I got Excel Electric from Angie's List.

Called Friday......they did the work Saturday. Very professional and courteous, did a great job and and left the room clean.

The fellow one the phone when I first called in tried to help me resolve the problem on the phone before sending anyone out. Justin who came out was very friendly, fixed our issue quickly, looked at other outlet issues for us and provided some work quotes for the work at our request.

I have never been more pleased with a contractor. They gave me a window of time and when it appeared he would be about 20 min. late, they called me immediately, an hour before he was even due here. He arrived (Justin) and was pleasant and knowledgeable. I took him to the light/problem and he immediately knew how to repair it. Instead of just re-securing it, he took it down to find the problem and reattached it more securely and to code, as it had not been previously. There is a sister light next to it, and he took that down also to ensure its safety. I had paid for one hour and I had a half hour left, so I asked him if he would look at the electrical outlet to the garden as I had been told it was open to water. He immediately told me the problem, said he could repair it within the time frame, used some of my material onsite so I did not have to pay for more parts, and in 20 min., he had my home secured and out of danger from water getting into the lines. He was so honest, he even asked if I had the Angie's List 10% coupon online and when I said that I didn't, I had used SnapFix to find them, he offered to wait while I downloaded it. He was professional, knowledgeable, friendly and honest. I have never used Excel before, but I would only use them in the future.

Excel is an amazing company. They return phone calls, show up on time, are clean, courteous and knowledgeable. Without a doubt I will definitely use them for future electrical work.

It went great! An Excel Electric representative arrived on time and very quickly fixed our electrical issue. He was professional and very friendly. I would highly recommend them to a friend/family member and plan on using their services again in the future for any electrical issues that may arise.

I typically don?t write reviews and most often rely on referrals from friends. I have never used Angie?s List and only signed up to write this review because of how strongly I feel about my great experiences with Tom Kiernan and every member of his team that I have worked with at Excel Electric. I first learned of Excel Electric when I was in line at Bank of the West in San Clemente 6 years ago. I overheard the gentleman in front of me talk with the teller about retiring from SDG&E. I took the opportunity to ask him about who he might recommend I call to troubleshoot the significant electrical issues I was having in my home at the time. He didn?t hesitate with his referral of Tom and Excel Electric, citing that he worked with Excel on many projects at SDG&E and had Excel recently rewire his entire home. He mentioned further that Excel does a lot of work for neighboring cities like San Juan Capistrano, Dana Point and San Clemente too. Excel Electric investigated and resolved my electrical issues at my home in Capo Beach ? it was a new custom home that the builder and the original electrical contractor washed their hands of?Tom and his team figured it out ? it wasn?t easy. They listened to my layman?s description of the issues, drew on each other?s knowledge and experience, and got it done. I called on Tom and Excel to replace / upgrade my electric panel and service at a 30-year old home I recently purchased in Dana Point. There were so many issues that they helped me through beyond the panel upgrade as I trusted they would. Tom worked with SDG&E to upgrade the service to my Dana Point home with the current infrastructure from the street, saving me thousands of dollars, without my even asking or being sure that he would even be doing my upgrade. That?s just what he does?that?s just what his team does. I got to know them well, and am honored to have worked with each and every one of them and call them my friends. They follow through, follow up?they come back if issues arise?they just simply ?Excel?. I will call on them again, and hope you do too.
