NORCAL RENOVATIONS

Colleen came out to talk about what we wanted, took some measurements, and helped with some ideas on what would and wouldn't work. She provided a detailed estimate, which was very competitive with the other bids we got. They prepared a very detailed contract with specific details on the scope of work, including materials and estimated quantities. This was very helpful in defining the work and avoiding surprises. Colleen was great in terms of design and material ideas - there are so many options out there it can be really overwhelming so the guidance was much appreciated. Bob did all the work himself and the work progressed on schedule minus a few delays in delivery of materials (through no fault of NorCal). His work was very high quality. He was very conscientious about cleaning up each day before leaving and was careful not to let our indoor kitties outside. The only work that was subbed out was the shower door, and NorCal coordinated the order, and dealt with the shower company when they installed the wrong hardware. We love our new bathroom and would definitely use NorCal again.

The work was very shoddy. He installed a mirror and the lights that were attached to the mirror was not installed probably and you could see the gap between the fixture and mirror. He said that the manufacture of the mirror did not make the mirror and fixture probably. He light and then my husband took the fixture off the mirror and refixed the light fixture to the mirror properly. Also the wood frame that this company made to fit around the mirror was not cut properly and does not fit the mirror properly. There is a gap between the bottom right hand corner of the mirror and the frame. He did not install the pan in the shower properly and did not install the tile properly. The shower grout cracked beause water had leaked behind the shower pan and we ended up with dry rot 6 years later. The grout flaked and cracked in the floor tiles in the dressing room the tiles ended up coming loose. Beause of the water damage and loose floor tiles, we had to have the entire tiles in the shower and the floor taken out, the dry rot fixed and new tiles layed. We had to pay for this work twice because of the incompedient workers who put down the tile and remodeled the bathroom. When we got our present contractor to do the repair. He questioned the compedence of the old contractor and if he really had a contractors license because he could see that he really did a shoddy job. I wish we had some recourse against NorCal Renovations because they should not be allowed to continue to do business and take more unsuspecting people for their money. I could go on and on about the bad work they performed, but I think you get the idea.
