Joe and his crew were complete lifesavers!! After my original contractor left me in a horrible situation where I could not run my business efficiently, joe not only met me at my fitness studio that same day, but he was actually early! He was able to repair my studio in a very clean and professional way and was completely on time and budget! Thanks to Joe my business is back to performing efficiently and he and his team have completely changed my perception of contractors. I am definitely looking forward to using him in the future and would recommend him to everyone!

Currently, the project is in-progress. So far everything is going great! Working w/ Joe has been really easy and smooth. We met with several contractors to get bids before we met Joe and there was no question we were going w/ him after we met him. This was our first major remodel so we needed someone who could help guide us through the process of getting permits, selecting materials, where to buy materials, design ideas, etc. Joe really fit the bill. He was easy to talk to, he had ideas, he was detailed and he was able to provide a pretty solid quote on the spot. We agreed on a set price for labor then we set a budget for materials. Since the beginning Joe has been really helpful. He's met with us on a couple occasions to select materials, in fact he's been to Lowes for us a couple of times to pick up materials for us; and and he's been quick in responding to questions whether it's been by phone, text, or email. This guys customer service has really been A+. When we first discussed the project we made it clear that we wanted to finish the project as quickly as possible because my wife is pregnant. We moved out to avoid exposing my wife to the dust and the cats to the noise and the foot traffic. He's really taken advantage of the time. In fact he and his crew were working on Saturday and Sunday. He's really been pulling out the stops to get the project done quickly and by the book. I literally have no complaints. The qualities that I really appreciate is that he does a lot of the work himself; he's always on site; he's meticulous; he's very transparent; and he and his crew are very clean (the job site is always in order). Like I said, the project is only half done, so I will post an update once it's complete. I'm definitely recommending him to anyone I know who is looking for a contractor. UPDATE: The job is finished and I can say that my wife and I couldn't be happier. The finished product exceeded our expectations. The tile work was beautifully done. The lines from tile will start on the tub surround and continue through the shower. Beautiful work! He really went above and beyond. For example... the roman tub faucet ruptured a gasket when he first connected it to test. Unfortunately, we seemed to pick a lemon brand/model. Rather than starting over and picking fictures, Joe was able to replace some of the gaskets internally as well as replace some of the mounting screws to make the faucet solid. I think other contractors would have asked us to purchase a new faucet, but he made it work. Thoroughly impressed! He also really pushed his team to finish the project on time as my wife is pregnant and we are getting very close to the due date. Once the project was complete, Joe has phoned us twice to follow-up and make sure everything is still functioning properly and to see if we needed anything else. The metal piece on the floor between the bathroom and the master bedroom came up a little on one side. Joe was over a couple of days later to fix it. Literally, that has been the only thing that needed fixing. Its been two weeks and still no issues. All the electrical, plumping, and build is still going strong with no signs of any impending issues. Two thumbs up! At the end of the day, Joe was affordable, friendly, helpful, and professional. He went above and beyond to overcome issues that arrose. Funny enough, the only issues we had were with materials and not with the bathroom. I will recommend Joe to family and friends. Joe is wizard at his craft and I hope that he's avialable the next time we have a project.
Description of Work: Complete bathroom remodel: Currently, the project is in-progress. The plan was to completely gut the bathroom and add a new, larger drop in tub w/ a tile surround, extend the existing walk in shower by a couple of feet, retile the floor, install a new double vanity w/ a quartz top, new sinks, hardware throughout,, and add a new larger window. So far he's picked up the permits from the city for us, completed the demo, framed the tub surround, framed out the new walk-in shower, completed the electrical ,installed the new lights and fan, completed the plumbing, hot mopped the shower floor, installed the new window, coordinated w/ another contractor to install a new 200amp electrical box (installed), and set the appointment w/ the inspector. He started last Monday and it's now the following Wednesday. He and his small crew have been extremely fast an efficient! I'll post a follow-up after the rest of the build is complete.

I purchased a coupon for two days of contractor service. Joe from Z7 came out on two different occasions to assess my suggested usage of the two days. The projects turned out to be much more than just the two days. Joe and his team were very professional. They were always on time and seemed to have a lot of expertise.

Guy was very friendly and professional and has since followed up with us. We also got a quote from Joe, who works with Guy and specializes in outdoor design projects. We had very positive experiences with both individuals. When we are ready to make a decision on our backyard and kitchen, we will surely call each of them and strongly consider using them for our projects.
Description of Work: Guy came out and did a 3D design for our kitchen. He spent a few hours at our house putting it together and did a very nice job. Joe gave us some design ideas for our backyard.

After many years of procrastinating we finally bit the bullet and took the plunge to remodel our kitchen. I received quotes from 3 contractors all from Angie's list. We decided to go with Z7 Builders the contractor Joe seemed very knowledgeable and his price was very reasonable. One of our concerns was the time line, we had heard stories of contractors who start jobs and then you don't see them again for days but Joe wrote a time line into the contract and he maintained it, VERY PROFESSIONAL! A day never went by that they were not at our job site, from start to finish 5 days. Every night they cleaned up after themselves. Besides Joe, his crew especially a gentleman by the name of Luis are also very good at what they do. Our floor looks marvelous and our cabinets transform our kitchen. Joe was able and willing to provide that little extra to make our project special. Joe and his crew exceeded our expectations absorbing changes without increasing cost. We are already looking forward to our next home improvement project and we are one step ahead because we know our first call will be to AZ Builders and Joe an Grade A Contractor.

Joe was great from the start. He came round for 30 minute to look over requirements, told me how much time it would take, when he'd be able to start the job and how long he would take. He's extremely knowledgeable and professional. He produced exactly what he said he'd do, and was always easy to contact. Even though it's just a small job, the work is very high-quality. He even went over to Home Depot for me to choose a suitable attic fan. I've got a fairly long to-do remodel list that I need to work through and I'm certainly going to ask Joe to do it. I recommend him whole-heartedly to you all.
Description of Work: Installed an attic ladder, relocated the attic light, put a trim around the hutch, installed an attic fan and completed all the clean-up: patched sheet rock over the previous attic hutch, re- textured and painted, cleaned up all the mess.

Yoav "Joe" Arielli, Luis, Eliseo, and Arturo, of Z7Builders, are terrific to work with. They are friendly, energetic and hard-working; often working weekends (with our permission) to keep the project steadily progressing. Our dog, Molly, really enjoyed having them around! They were respectful of our property and possessions and did their best to keep the house as clean as they could. They tidied up at the end of each day, which helped reduce the chaos to some extent. Joe worked with us to design our dream kitchen and bathroom. He took detailed measurements and presented us with 3D drawings of his proposed designs. He is very good at an iterative design process. He listened to what we wanted and offered some novel ideas for our consideration. We went back and forth, refining the design until we got just what we wanted. We were originally going to go with the standard galley design in our kitchen and Joe helped us to see possibilities we hadn't considered. Joe and his team are consummate craftsmen. The plumbing work is beautiful and the tile work is outstanding! We have a complicated tile pattern for the kitchen floor and a different run of accent tile on the back splash in the kitchen and on the tub/shower surround in the bathroom; Joe and Luis took our tile designs and implemented them with superb attention to detail. We had an extra foot of space between the bathtub and the wall, so they created built-in niches in the wall of the tub/shower surround and next to the sink. The Z7Builders team was able to take out-of-the-box cabinets and tailor them to make them look almost custom. Joe custom-built an arch to provide a focal point and tie the cabinets on either side of the window over the sink together. They were also able the reduce the depth of the pantry cabinets in the laundry room and the vanity in the bathroom to make them fit the space better. Another novel solution is the vertically-split door that they installed between the kitchen and laundry room -- it works so much better than a regular door would work in that space! Another thing I love about Joe is how unflappable and resourceful he is. As an example, I ordered a Shaw farmhouse sink for the kitchen. This sink is extra deep, weighs 161 pounds, and has a decorative front casement; Joe was expecting a normal under-mount or drop-in sink. Not only was the cabinet we ordered for under the sink too tall, but there needed to be extra bracing to deal with the weight. Joe was momentarily surprised when we unboxed the sink; however, he didn't get upset, he just went to work figuring out what was needed to get the sink installed. We ordered additional cabinet doors that fit the new space, which he made a special trip to pick up, and Joe custom-built the frame for the sink to sit in. Joe is also very generous with his talent and expertise. We are serious DIYers and Joe was comfortable with allowing us to share in some of the work in exchange for additional consulting/troubleshooting on side projects like our installation of solar tube lights in the kitchen, bathroom and living room. We also re-roofed our house while the kitchen/bathroom remodel was going on and Joe provided some advice for that project. We are thrilled with our new kitchen, laundry room and bathroom! We recommend Z7Builders to our friends, family and neighbors and we will use this company again when we tackle our deck project in the near future. We trust Joe and his team to deliver quality work at a reasonable price.
Description of Work: We remodeled the kitchen, laundry room, and bathroom in our two-bedroom, one-bathroom, single-story house. The bathroom was taken down to the studs and was completely reorganized. We replaced the flooring, cabinets, sink, and appliances in the kitchen. We converted from a gas water heater to an external natural gas tankless water heater. We combined a very small laundry room with a room that contained a dry bar to make a larger laundry/storage room, removing the wall that divided the two rooms, filling in the bar opening, and removing one of the two doors that went from the kitchen into those rooms.

The kitchen design and construction were great - we get lots of compliments.? And Mike bent over backwards to be sure we were happy.? Glad we did it!
Description of Work: We used Z7 to provide drawings and an estimate for a kitchen remodel that also entailed a full house rewiring. We got other estimates as well, and Mike's were in line with what other builders came back with. We had them do the work. It is a small company, so we were dealing with the principals throughout, which can be really helpful.

It went very well, and I was not nickled and dimed to death. The general contractor was Daniel Sadeghan, and he was johnny on the spot if I had any questions. The estimate for the job was met, and I added on a few other things that came up in my 50 year old house (like repiping). Each time we agreed on a price and that was it. Workers were courteous and cleaned up after themselves. I had heard horror stories from others who have had a room added on, and I am pleased to say that did not happen to me. Of course, each time something major was added it, the finish date was extended.

First, I'm not sure of the dates nor the price (I believe the deal was for August). I excitedly purchased this service as a gift for friends who were going to add a bathroom to their house. The first visit (which my friends were highly anticipating) was rescheduled because the provider spent the time with the previous appointment. He didn't notify them until he was to have appeared at their house. He was late to the second appointment and hadn't done his research into the building laws in their neighborhood despite the fact that they had been very specific with their needs and the placement of the bathroom in their phone interview. Disappointing.

I have called Joe several times with various problems associated with the company that I ordered the appliances from. He would answer my calls promptly and arrive within hours to take care of the problem and has been supportive of my exasperation with this other company. Not many contractors will respond in this way.
Description of Work: Asked questions to determine what my needs are. At this time, I merely wanted to get new appliances and do a complete remodel sometime in the future. He removed old appliances and will be customizing the spaces for the new appliances which I ordered. Joe goes above and beyond what I would have expected from a contractor.

After a week or so, I received phone call from Keren from "Z7builders" and we made an appointment. She called back later saying they were being audited and had to put everything on hold. After a few weeiks she called back and we made another appointment for 9/17/13. It was a no show. I emailed her company and did not get an answer. I don't want to deal with them any more. This is a tough one to review. Initially, they were quick to respond to our purchase of the deal offered here on Angie's list. An appointment was set for less than a week from the purchase. However, much like all the other reviews, everything changed from here. Our appointment had to be canceled the day before it was scheduled because they apparently lost their license due to a workers compensation issue that had caused them to be audited. The message that was left said we could wait until it was corrected or have Angie's reimburse us. Well, after much debate I decided to wait it out. I figured it couldn't take that long to correct something like this for one and also we were a little tied up ourselves so we wouldn't be able to schedule anything for a few weeks anyway. After more than a couple of weeks went by I followed up asking for an update. In talking to them via email, I also had a little laugh about an earlier review that was left......they seemed down to earth but said they were still in the same position as before and could not yet provide any services. However, I was asked if they would allow a sister company to come out and do the same work, to which I agree would be okay. We set an appointment with the owner, John. A day before ( or maybe two I can't recall ) we received a message that John couldn't make it but another associate, Mike, could. We had to adjust the time of the original appointment because of his schedule that day but luckily we could oblige. When Mike arrived, he came in and shared some information on the company and pictures of prior jobs that they had done, then listened to our thoughts on how we wanted to transform our main bathroom. He certainly was knowledgeable and took our ideas and put them on a digital graph for us as discussed. He then gave us the quote of approximately $30,000 which was more than we had in mind, but we had an intricate design so we can't really judge the quote given in terms of competitiveness. When Mike left, he said he would email us the design later than night but we didn't get it. We had to send a couple of emails to get it, but eventually he did send it our way. For what it's worth, Keren did a pretty good job with keeping us informed throughout what could not have been an easy position for her to be in under the circumstances, but at the end of the day the experience was a tad frustrating and took far too long to come to 100% completion. While we can appreciate their issues it doesn't change the overall customer experience. We are giving a C rating because it does seem they do great work and have knowledgeable people. It would seem that in normal circumstances they would be a good company to work with, but for us, it wasn't normal to be sure.

- An appointment for z7Builders to come to my home and perform consultation and design services (including 3-D plan) on July 29,2013. z7Builders postponed appointment and then reneged on deal and refused to perform any services on July 29, 2013. Shortly before that date, z7Builders phoned and postponed my appointment until August 14, 2013. On August 10, 2013, I received an email fro z7Builders which provided, in part: "To all of our dear clients, We regret to inform you that we must put our appointments on hold. The company we operate under, TRUTH INC has been called in for an audit, as many companies do periodically. Due to this piece of news (sic)that the firm must put a hold on the license and its workman's comp insurance, we legally cannot offer our services to you." Three options were offered, and I opted to wait for z7Builders to clear up its workman's comp ins. problems and then perform the services. I heard nothing until I contacted z7Builders by phone to seek their performance of the promised service on Sept. 24, 2013, at which time Mr. Arielli told me that his firm would not perform the services previously agreed upon. He further advised me to seek a refund from Angie's List.

Mike was very nice. He said he would email a 3-d drawing which he did not do. He was representing a company "Pro Design Construction Inc". When I asked him why not "Z7 Builders" as advertised? He said it had something to do with a temporarily revoked license for Z7 Builders. This did not make me feel comfortable.

Mike Hen was the person who showed up, on time, and was extremely helpful doing the drawings of the kitchen as promised, and providing the necessary information. Mike spent a lot of time on the project and was very thoughtful w/ his suggestions and I would recommend him and his company without hesitation. Mike provided an estimate for the proposed remodel on a timely basis and we are continuing our research on the project. We are doing a kitchen remodel w/ new cabinets, lights, and a window and door replacement. There are a lot of structural issues that have not been resolved so we have not had the project done yet. We will certainly contact Mike Hen when we are ready to proceed.
Description of Work: The provider supplied us w/ a 3d drawing for our kitchen remodel in accordance w/ the big deal the company offered through Angie's List. The timetable was very short between our purchase of the deal and their calling to make an appointment, like the same day. Mike Hen was the individual who showed up on time and was extremely helpful doing the drawing and providing necessary information. Mike spent a lot of time on the project and was very thoughtful w/ his suggestions and I would recommend him and his company without hesitation. Donald Ford Sausalito

They scheduled with us twice. However, finally they couldn't make it. So, we got refunded our service. They said that they had some internal issue. So, it may be justified.
Description of Work: Actually, for some reason they were not able to deliver the service to their customers.
