We met Joe through our realtor. He came over and we discussed our ideas. We knew what we wanted done but not how to do it or if it could be done. Joe brought our vision of the house to life. He had wonderful ideas which improved on what we had imagined, for instance, in expanding the master bathroom, he suggested taking another 18" from the bedroom closet on the opposite side of the wall. This gave us the size bathroom we really wanted but didn't think we could have. It didn't negatively effect the bedroom because we had planned another bigger closet in a different location. Joe also helped us create a place for a stained glass window in the bathroom which I never imagined we could have because it is an interior wall. However the wall was next to interior stairs with a window on the opposite side of the stairs. It came out beautifully.
Description of Work: Removed walls between living room, dining room and kitchen, and wall between two bedrooms. Filled in where walls were with hardwood floor that matches perfectly. Refinished all hardwood floors. Remodeled kitchen including installing new cabinets and peninsula. Remodeled fireplace surround. Added railings to stairs inside and out. Installed sliding door. Built master bedroom closet lined with cedar. Remodeled bathroom including moving plumbing and drain. Cleaned up a rats nest of pipes. Redid electric in house. Removed remnant of well no longer in use. Painted deck and most of the interior of the house. Moved trap door to attic. Put in new energy efficient air condition and heater unit.

I would describe Joe as a jack of all trades and a great general contractor. We used Joe for an entire remodel of our house, which included a kitchen and two bathrooms. Not only was our remodel a large project, but our house had been abandoned for nearly 9 years and was badly in need of upkeep. As first time home owners, Joe was very helpful in answering all our questions and not only managed our remodel, but was always quick to tackle the many unexpected problems that surfaced along the way (there were many). Overall, we were happy with his work quality and we felt Joe?s prices were very reasonable given our budget. During the remodel, Joe would often do little things for free, whether this included rerouting the cable or using leftover tile to fix-up our laundry room. In our first night in the house, we couldn?t get the heater to turn on and Joe came right over and fixed the problem. My only complaint working with Joe is that our project did run over schedule, but I would say this is a pretty common problem with any large remodel. There were also little details that would get lost at times, but Joe was always very agreeable and willing to make changes if something wasn?t done to our liking the first time. Overall, we continue to use Joe for additional projects around the house and happily recommend him to any of our friends looking to do a remodel.

We had water damage in our first floor and garage and we needed a contractor who can put back our home to it's original state. It was a hard job because it involved replacing portions of the wooden floor to match the color of the rest of the house, and we had special hand crafted walls that were very badly ripped out by the damage remediation company. Joe and his crew was sooo easy to work with! You hear about all these nightmare stories with contractors and working with Joe has been a dream; it was such an easy and pleasant experience that at times I really did wonder if this could be real. He is super responsive on email and text. He was quick to start the job, keeping the job going, and not dragging out the process (but never rushed anything that needed careful attention and time), valued good craftsmanship, and paid attention to details. I'm actually quite shocked at how extremely reasonable his prices are for the high quality of work. His crew is equally stellar; they were very careful with their equipment, making sure not to damage anything when moving things around; they kept everything consistently clean; they were respectful, friendly, and punctual. Joe and his crew went above and beyond the job description to help me do several "touch-ups" around the house. It's rare to have such a quick-acting, thorough, and honest contractor and crew, who is attentive to the customers needs. I highly recommend Joe and his crew for any work around the house, and definitely will use them again if I ever need anything in the future.
Description of Work: Joe and his crew put back out house to it's original state after the Water Damage specialists removed dry wall, hand crafted wall panels, wooding flooring, etc.

I own a fitness studio in Los Gatos and hired Joe & his team to perform what I considered to be small miracle. Because my business is service related the thought of closing for 3 days was very scary. I have done a couple remodels in the past so it was quite nerve wracking when I posted a close date & time and a "promise-to-be-back-open" date & time to all of my clients - my past experience taught me that timing isn't always as promised. Joe and his team have completely changed how i feel about contractors!! He was there the second that we closed our doors to my clients and was done with his work when he had promised. Not only was he able to get everything done in only 3 days, but these 3 days were over a weekend - Easter weekend to be exact! Below is the scope of work he was able to accomplish in such a short amount of time.... *Tear out Carpet in exercise room *Install Hot Coat Cork in exercise room *Tear out existing laminate floors in lobby *Install new lobby floors *Replace all floor trim *Demo Wall *Patch up space *Remove light fixture & replace with new one *Build Storage cubbies (He was able to use our old lockers and recycle the material - we are a very "green" company so this was amazing and the cubbies came out beautifully!) *Build 3 large storage boxes in our exercise room *Create Mat storage *hang new blinds *Build new Retail displays (one of which I messed up & he rebuilt no questions asked!) *Install new water filtration bottle filler *Build New Desk *Re Paint our entire space Even better, my husband & I had planned on doing some DIY projects and got about 3/4 of the done and left for the evening to come back and finish in the morning. When we came back, Joe and his team had finished it perfectly - without us even asking! The end product is beautiful and my clients couldn't believe so much changed in such a short amount of time! Joe is extremely creative, he's a great problem solver and was always professional and very communicative. Each member of his team that he brought into my studio was professional, skilled and punctual. I would HIGHLY recommend Joe & his team for your project and will definitely be using him again soon!

Unfortunately Baseline Construction has not shown they have the ability to manage projects. Several project managers have come and gone over the past 5 months and now the owner (Yaniv or Sam as he likes to be called) has taken over managing the project. Although Baseline has been paid $50k to date their subcontractors have complained to my parents that they have not been paid. The cabinetry has been delayed twice. At one point Yaniv met with my parents and promised to wrap the project up with an additional three weeks of work by March 17th or liquidated damages of $1000.00 a day would be assessed. When March 17th came we were informed that the cabinets alone would take an additional two weeks. Unfortunately there is no end in sight and Baseline has not done well communicating with us. The biggest problem is that we were very clear that because of their ages (both over 70) my parents shouldn't endure a long construction process. Baseline moved immediately in and demolished their kitchen leaving them eating in their living room for half a year so far. No accommodations have been made and only promises that my parents will be happy when it's all over are given as a description of what is in store. Baseline was late delivering plans for the design which should have tipped us off that this was not going to go well. Avoid this contractor if you want to be satisfied and have your project delivered on time. We don't know if we'll ever get to the end of this.
Description of Work: Baseline Construction was contracted by my parents to manage a kitchen remodel at their home in Vallejo, California. The job consisted of demolishing existing cabinets and pulling up a linoleum floor, adding new electrical, plumbing and cabinetry and placing tile flooring. Kitchen size approximately 500 square feet (or less). A refrigerator and new sink were also procured through the contractor. The schedule was six weeks because my parents are elderly. At the time of this review the work has gone on 5 Months and has not made the half way point. The job is incomplete.

I originally submitted my request with detailed information concerning the job. My communication with Joe was irritating from the beginning, I wanted to be patient because I understood that he was overwhelmed by the coupons sold by Angie's list. Not knowing whether this job would fit the coupon's description of Contrator for a day @ $349.00. Actually my message as you will see in attached info I even gave him an out if the job was more than the coupon had specified. Appointment made (after me tracking him down), for Joe to look at the kitchen cabinet and hood. I was not shock when he came into my home with a pompus attitude which I ignored, I have worked with contractors in the past with the same attitude, would never allow this to stop project. He was in my home for approximately 45 minutes 5 of the 45 was spent looking at the vent for hood. The rest was him bi***ing about how overwhelmed he was with the coupons sold on Angie's list - giving me detailed descriptions of his past jobs. Whinning contractor with attitude, bad combo. Joe asked if he could purchase the range hood giving me a "Deal" with a contractors discount, he quoted me a price for the island hood through text messages which I now no longer have access to, but the quote was over $1400. leading me to believe that this hood was the only hood that could work. I declined purchase my island hood for a little under $300. I get it the man wanted to make a buck on this job. Appointment was made Joe and two guys showed on time. Work was completed, neat, fast. During this appointment I had my daughter come to be at the house while I had to take my mother-in-law to doctors. Thinking the whole time he had my detailed instructions and will complete this job with the excellence he claimed throughout our past conversations. I returned home with the disappointment of the hood placed height not meeting my requirements for this job. I thought I might be able the live with this but it defeated the purpose of removing the cabinet to open up the space while cooking all I could see was the island hood. I finally reached out to Joe asking him if he could come back and lift the hood and 5" to the specified height I had requested. Joe quoted me $2400. to this What a jerk if he thought first of all I would go fo this quote, and let a man with such a nasty attitude come back into my home well forget it. I finally found the most wonderful contractor not on angie's list that came and adjusted the hood for me in two hours the vision I iniatially requested appeared. It took me a very long time to get to this point after researching contractor's in my neighborhood trying to get Angie's list to help via phone. Contacting hood's dealer to find someone to reinstall the hood and shorten the length of this telescopictic chimney. Months of asking contractors for a quote with no calls being returned, so much of my time wasted due to Joe's pompous holier than all attitude. I would have rather lived with the hood as is than have that contrator back onto my home. My contractor was furious with the letter and quote Joe had sent. It all comes down to he not wanting to crawl though the attic to double check the ducts. I did review Joe's work giving him a high mark because the job was neat and fast not realizing the headache that was to follow. PS the job took him less than a full day he was in my hime by 9 am out by 11 am. Which I really do not mind because the thought of him being in my home for a full day, was not worth the money I was saving. Cheap gets you expensive every time!

I am sorry if you were not satisfied with the service I provided. As a service, I often supply suggested purchase items to clients, actual purchase prices included. I do not make any financial gains from these items. The clients can buy the item themselves, or I will buy it for them with no additional cost for purchasing or delivery. Upon looking at the hood/chimney you had purchased, on your own, I explained the height limitations of that product, and it was agreed to move forward as is. The hood was installed with the chimney at its shortest length, as extending the chimney portion lowers the hood which is the opposite of what you wished for. After installation, you asked if it could be raised. To do so, without altering your existing structure and incurring more expense to the job cost, would have required altering the product itself, thereby rendering any manufacturer's warranty null & void. I explained that this was not something I wished to do, due to liability issues it would cause with the manufacturer of the product. The quote of $2400 was to make alterations to your existing structure in order to allow for raising of the chimney which would then raise the hood to your desired height. I regret that this did not satisfy your vision, as I strive to make my clients happy within reasonable expectations.

I would like to mention that Joe @ Z7 stepped up to take over an Angie's List Big Deal that another contractor flaked on. This in itself tells you the type of person Joe is & the confidence he has in his work & his employees to step into a situation that is not ideal and to deliver an excellent finished product. We recently had some work done in our combined kitchen & dining area. The goal was to replace 2 sliding doors (1 in the dining area), new tile flooring, new counter tops, add a backsplash, remove the popcorn ceiling & have a walls refinished. We used a previous door vendor for the sliding doors, another highly rated contractor who specialized in kitchens & a purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for a contractor to remove the popcorn ceiling & complete the finishing work on the walls. As mentioned above the Big Deal was for another contractor. Unfortunately, that vendor would not answer his phone or return messages or emails. After about a month I reached out to Angie's List who was able to find a vendor that was willing to take on the job & honor the Big Deal previously purchased, Joe & Z7 Team. Joe called me the following day to set up the consultation & walk through. He showed up on time, we went through my requests & showed him the work I wanted done. He gave me his opinion and feedback on each item and told me what he thought we could get done in the time allotted through the deal. We came to an agreement & would start the work in 3 to 4 weeks. The work started on Saturday, 9/13, and wrapped up on Wednesday, 9/17. Joe showed up the first day with his crew to introduce them. Joe would be by at least once each day to see how things were going, but for the most part it was his crew. The first 3 days were full days of prepping, work, sanding & last night ceiling painting. That Tuesday was mainly finishing work, applying primer & clean up with Wednesday being some last minute touch ups. Our ceiling & walls now look as good as the new tile & counter tops; no more popcorn or miss-matched texture, poorly done patch work or holes. Joe & his crew were a pleasure to work with & have great communication while the project is running. If Joe or his crew had a question or a suggestion they would bring it up immediately to make sure we were happy with the final product. Thanks again Joe!!!
Description of Work: Removed popcorn ceiling in kitchen, dining area & spare bedroom. Skim coated the walls in the kitchen, dining area and both bathrooms. Sanded and primed all of the newly skim coated walls. Primed & painted the ceiling in the kitchen & dining area.

I can not say enough good things about the services provided by Joe and his Z7 team. I purchased the Z7 Big Deal because I have a family room which has had a stalled "remodel in progress" for years and I hoped Z7 could handle some of the smaller needs. Joe scheduled the initial appointment promptly, arrived on time, and inspected the family room. We both agreed the largest hurdle to moving the remodel project along, was a wall-to-wall brick fireplace hearth which needed to be cut back or partially removed. I hesitated having Joe take on this project since I had little prior experience with his work and the brick extended all the way to the dirt under the house and I expected it to be a huge, risky job. Joe's professionalism and confidence in informing me that removing part of the hearth was a small job for him, I decided to let him tackle it. He felt confident that he could complete the job as part of the Angie's Deal which allowed for one contractor for 2 days, with $100 material allowance, even though new subfloor would have to be installed where the brick was removed. Scheduling with Joe was an easy process and he showed up on construction day not only on time, but with several Z7 team members. What I expected would take the full weekend, was accomplished effectively and beautifully in less than a half day. All team members were polite and respectful, worked quickly and efficiently, and left their construction path cleaner than it was before they got there. As with the majority of remodel projects, there are usually several "surprises" along the way, and this project was no different. When removing a portion of the brick hearth, Joe unexpectedly found rebar running the full length of the hearth, suspending some of the brick work. He called me in, explained to me the impact of the unexpected find, and presented me with several options for moving forward. After a brief discussion, I chose the option which worked best for me, and his team quickly was back on task. Never once did Joe try to "nickel and dime" me or ask for additional funding because the project objectives changed once they had started the work and needed to change course due to the "surprises". Though hauling and disposal was NOT included as part of the Deal, Joe found and delivered all of the brick to a donation site where it could be recycled and came back a second time and hauled away the rebar and many bags of construction debris. He even hauled away leftover trash sitting around, such as a toilet and pedestal sink from a prior home remodel project that he was not involved with. Joe is just that kind of guy... he goes the extra mile. I've dealt with many contractors over the past 14 years as I've practically rebuilt my home room by room, but hands down, Joe and team z7 are my most positive contractor experience. I'm delighted that I've found them because, with Joe in charge of any remodel job I have, I know I'm in good hands.

.Joe came to the house the following day and promptly disassembled the faucet and fixed the reversed handle positions. In addition, he fixed a problem with the door threshold that his crew had installed: the rubber seal was being pulled out by the door's kickplate when opening the door, because the kickplate was too low and rubbed on the seal. He just raised the kickplate a bit and the problem disappeared. joe is clever, and has a solution for any problem he has been faced with at our house. He goes beyond the call of duty and provides free services, not like other contractors that find excuses to charge additional for services that were not explicitly included in their bids. He is very easy to work with, and we will be engaging his services for additional work in a few months. We highly recommend him.
Description of Work: Joe Arielli had remodeled our guest bathroom (see previous review) and we called him to fix the shower faucet that had reversed hot and cold water handle positions. The reversal occurred during copper repiping performed by another contractor. Even though Joe and his crew were not responsible for the mishap, he was willing to fix the problem at no charge.

I showed Joe my idea and he totally got it. He and his team built a dividing wall in my bath so I have an open shower stall. I bought the tile (talavera) I wanted and we played around with designs. My bathroom is almost done and it is just beautiful. It's still a small bathroom but it looks so light and soothing now. They also put in some ceiling lights over the shower which is something I hadn't even thought of before. While the tile was setting I decided to have them replace the bamboo previous owners put on the kitchen floor. I picked a tile I liked and they got that job done in between, finishing properly what others had left undone. We are now improvising with the remaining tile and it all looks wonderful. Handmade tile is not the easiest to work with but Joe and he team have done wonderfully. He knows the various regulations which kept me from ordering stuff that's not allowed in California. Lastly, I bought a vanity and a talavera sink along with (surprise!) more tiles for the top. The team will cut out a hole for the sink and finish the top of the vanity with the tiles I chose. After which they will install the remaining tiles for the back splash. It's been dusty but drop cloths are laid every day for walking in and out and I found all the guys overall very professional and hardworking. I'm going to have to save some money and decide what I might like to do next since I now have someone I can rely on.
Description of Work: Joe and his team gutted my old style bathroom removing the tub, vanity, wallpaper, etc. I didn't want a preformed shower unit and wanted handmade tile. Other contractors either didn't return my call, called a week later and/or never showed up for the estimate. They did me a favor.

Joe's team replaced an old oak kitchen light fixture with modern recessed ceiling fitted with dim-able canned lighting, replaced sheet rock, installed under cabinet dimmed lighting fixtures, new pendant lighting over our granite counter, installed new electrical switches to operate all of the lights, and also installed new tile floors. Everything looks beautiful and I'm delighted with the results! His team of workers did a great job, were respectful, polite and always cleared up after themselves. Joe is great to work with, he is extremely professional and provides excellent advice on design, types of materials to use and overall does excellent work. He will share tips about the best way to accomplish the design you're looking for and work within your budget as far as possible. He makes sure he understands exactly what you want first and then discusses the best ways to achieve that design, offering ideas and suggestions along the way. If something is not to your liking he will listen carefully to what you want and adjust or fix anything to be exactly what you want--many contractors say they do this but few actually deliver! I'm definitely planning to have Joe come back to do additional projects in the near future. One more thing: speak to Joe before you buy materials! He often gets better prices than you can and will give you great advice!

Joe was very responsive to my questions. First asked about expiration date and honoring the coupon if I couldn't schedule the work or it was started but not completed by expiration date. He said they'd still honor the full value of the coupon even beyond expiration date. I ended up asking for refund because I do not have the funds to pay for the work now (due to other ongoing house work costing way more than expected). Joe again was responsive when I wrote to let him know and encouraged me to get my money back now if that was my choice to not do the work soon and said they'll probably have the same Big Deal offer again in the future. I'm asking for refund due to my inability to pay for work now, not because of anything wrong that the service provider did. I hope to get same offer with this company next year.

We hired Joe Arielly for remodeling our guest bathroom, and installing tile in the adjacent hallway. We liked Joe's demeanor, his enthusiasm and eagerness to do the job, and understanding of what we wanted. Joe's proposal was simple but comprehensive. He helped us select the furniture and the tile for the bathroom and hallway by taking us to a building materials supplier in San Francisco. Joe and his crew of two, Luis and Daniel, showed up the following Tuesday to start the demolition phase of the project. Demolition also included removing linoleum flooring as well as a vanity, countertop and sink. The concrete slab in the shower had to be broken to replace the piping, and since vent pipes were discovered within the demolished wall, they had to be rerouted as well. This was an unexpected occurrence that was dealt with professionally by Joe and crew, and did not result in extra charges. The demolition process was noisy and dusty, but the crew installed plastic sheeting to prevent dust from getting into our house living areas. Every evening Luis and Daniel cleaned up the resulting debris. Once the demolition was completed, the pan for the new shower was formed, damaged sheetrock was patched, and floor to ceiling tile was installed in the shower. The new tile floor in the hallway and bathroom looks beautiful, as does the shower. The work also included removing and resetting the toilet, putting together and installing a new vanity (which Joe fitted with legs since we were not able to find one exactly the way we wanted it) with a new granite countertop, painting the entire bathroom, reinstalling the sink faucet, removing a large mirror and installing a new one, installing two new LED light fixtures, removing and old noisy fan and vent, installing a separate switch for the fan on a dedicated circuit, and installing a new quiet one. In addition, Joe offered to provide his labor free of charge to replace fluorescent lights in our kitchen with new LED ones. And finally, he removed the kitchen sink faucet and replaced it with a new one we supplied, again free of charge. We are very happy with the resulting work, which was done on budget and ahead of time. Joe and his crew managed to finish one and a half day ahead of schedule. Throughout the work, that lasted 12 working days, we were very impressed with Joe's dedication, craftsmanship, resourcefulness, ability to improvise and fabricate. We liked his sense of humor, and we also liked Luis and Daniel, both of whom were polite, honest and hard workers. We most likely will hire Joe and his crew for our next project and we highly recommend him to anybody thinking about remodeling.

Joe is a true craftsman and clearly takes pride in doing a quality job. He has a keen eye for building quality and even noticed things in my house that could be improved that I hadn't seen before For instance, he saw that the kitchen cabinets were missing molding in one part. He said he had some of that exact finish and next time he came to do a job, he installed the molding free of charge! He just really likes to see a job well done! He is generous with his time and expertise and I could not believe the quality of work for the price. He also really uses his brain and decides what is needed for a project before he begins. For instance, we had some some cheap partical board bookshelves that were sagging under the weight of many books. Joe recognized the problem and offered a few solutions. I took him up on his recommendation to use high quality wood. He built, painted and installed the new shelves in less than an hour and even with hundred of books, those shelves are staying put! Joe is prompt and easy to communicate with (by email, phone and texting). I trust Joe for any job in my house; he gives his full attention and skill to any job, big or small and has delivered on every promise of work he has made. You don't find craftsmen like this much anymore.
Description of Work: Joe (sometimes with a partner) has done a number of various handyman and carpentry jobs for us now. He custom built a beautiful metal/reclaimed hard wood bench for our entryway, he hung and built and finished shelves, anchored and leveled a large bookcase, and assembled furniture.

Joe and his guys are a pleasure to deal with. Prompt, professional, knowledgeable and can think on his feet. This was just a few odd-jobs and it's really hard to persuade a contractor to come out for work like that. I'll hire him to work on my living room next. Would highly recommend him.
Description of Work: Installed under-cabinet LED lighting in the kitchen, toe-kick LED lighting, electrical work in the bathroom and installed a blind for my patio windows.

Joe came by, inspected the area I needed work on, made some suggestions, and then made an appointment to actually do the work. He showed up with his team (providing an extra worker at no additional cost) on time and ready to work. The did a number of "finishing" jobs (replaced some hardwood flooring, installed some tile and a strip between kitchen and dining room. For just the cost of materials, he also built a floor-to-ceiling cabinet for my refrigerator (but which I have subsequently decided to use as a pantry--it's that big and that beautiful). There is a reason that we value "old-world" skills and values, and Joe is one of those reasons. Hire him. You will be glad you did.
Description of Work: Several odd "finishing" jobs--replacing flooring, adding edging at the end of some tile, took out a wall...

Joe was very very nice, on time, and professional. We had planned to have a big shelf installed but changed our mind last minute so we ended up doing smaller things around the house. Although this work was more for a handyman rather than a very skilled contractor, Joe was super supportive and completed all the jobs. He gave me good advice and was very detail oriented and fast.

Joe was a pleasure to work with. Extremely dedicated to thinking creatively about the projects and talking through his ideas in a way that engaged my layman understanding of both design and construction work. His attention to detail was excellent, and he clearly takes great pride in his work. He drove around the bay area looking for cabinets that would match our existing set. Upon opening the box he discovered that one of the drawers was flawed, and he drove all the way back to South SF to replace it. All of this while staying within our agreed upon budget. The cabinet removal was a delicate job due to the granite counter above, but he and his crew handled it perfectly without a crack or chip to the granite. Joe is also very responsive to feedback - his initial design for our storm door left a small crack where the hinges attached to the wall. I asked him to figure out a way to cover the crack (imagine a 1.5 year old and a 4.5 year old finding all kinds of fun things to shove down there) and he took care of it without missing a beat. Overall, he was very responsive and easy to get in touch with over the phone. His work crew as professional and courteous, and I hope to work with him again soon.
Description of Work: Removed existing cabinets, installed dishwasher, installed new set of drawers. Also built a storm door cover to outside basement stairs.
