I was extremely satisfied from my first encounter with the salesperson, who was informative and not pushy, to the courtesy and professionalism of all of the workers. The whole team was first class!

We asked four different roofing companies over to give us an estimate. Westshore's estimate was the most competitive. Overall we are very happy with their work. They were on time and completed the work well. They were well organized and completed work within 4 days. Paul did a nice job of asking us to cover up the items in our garage before they started work. That made our clean up inside the garage a little easier. However, there are quite a few of nails still left over the perimeter of the house. They tried to clean up. But, we still had to clean up a little bit ourselves. But, overall we are happy with their works.

We are very happy with our interaction with the people at Westshore roofing from the estimator to the front office person to the foreman and workers. We really liked Dave, the estimator. He was very clear in explaining things to us about roofs and was patient in answering all our questions. Westshores bid was the least expensive of the three bids we received for the job. On the day the job was set to commence, there was rain forcasted for two days latter. Gabriel at the front office was very friendly and able to postspone the job until we were comfortable with weather conditions. He got on line with us on weather report internet sites and helped show us when things would be safe for pulling off the old roof. The foreman and crew were polite hardworking and cleaned up after each days work. The foreman was easy to communicate with and was happy to show me progress on the roof and answer questions. The job took 5 days to do as predicted. They did not work on the weekend which was okay for us because there was no rush to complete job. When the workers were done with the job, the son of the owner ,Ben, came by and we got up on the new roof together and did a walk through. Everything looked great and they did all the prep, underlayment and special things they had promised to do for us. The roof looks beautiful to look at and looks like it will be watertight as we go into the rainy season.

Their price was very reasonable and there were a lot of termite damages, so, they included that price in the estimate as well. They also cleaned up everything after themselves.

They were excellent, punctual, friendly and attentive, and were easy to work with. They gave very competitive prices and followed through on all agreements that we made.

Paul Fowler and all of his employees were very easy to deal with. They were always punctual and cleaned up the work site at the end of the day. Ernesto, the lead man on the job, is an excellent craftsman and was willing to work overtime to finish the job.

Quite well and the team took the changes we made as the job progressed in their stride . Because of previous leaks at a skylight a fibreboard layer was saturated in the original roof resulting in the original roof having to be taken off. There was no fuss at the extra work which was priced reasonably. I was disappointed when I found one seam which had not been welded at all when I was painting the edge flashing but they came back and fixed that promptly. I am looking forward to never having to replace the roof again.

Overall positive experience... I got what I contracted for: A new roof and no leaks thru the past rainy season. I cannot rate this company verses another as this has been my only experience hiring a roofing contractor. Workers are sloppy (then again it could be typical for any roofing company): - Debris from the tearoff was left blocking my garage entrance twice (had to move it myself). - Debris from the tearoff was left on the roof of my garage over a weekend (received neighbor comments). - Spent weeks after job completion picking up nails & staples left on the ground. I was enticed by their postcard mailing offering $500 off a re-roofing job: When I inquired about it I was told the quoted price already has the $500 discount factored into it. I got 4 quotes from 4 similar sized bay area roofing contractors (including the one I chose to use); with identical work and material all 4 were within $150 of each other. When I again inquired about the postcard discount I was told it gets mailed as marketing material. The entire job took longer to complete than anticipated though in fairness it was started in October which is the peak of any roofing contractor?s busy period.

I have been in project management for a number of years. Recently I was involved in designing and managing a steel roof project that was particularly challenging. The roof was originally constructed in 1978 and had undersized rafters spaced 24? apart. Although the roof was originally designed to support wooden shakes, 10 years ago a replacement roof of composite cement tile was installed. This increased the weight on the roof by 300% which over the years caused a sag of up to 3? to 4?. We issued a RFP and interviewed a number of contractors, some who had replaced roofs on similar homes in the neighborhood. We carefully checked out the candidates and based on reports of quality of work and price we chose Westshore Roofing. He was not the cheapest, nor the most expensive but his reputation was top notch. One of the design objectives of the roof project was to replace but in addition to install attic flooring, new replacement skylights, termite treatment and to reduce the use of air conditioning caused by the rise in temperatures due to global warming. We therefore required the installation of a radiant barrier and a 2 fold increase in ventilation due to the installation of a whole house fan. Paul collaborated on designing the ventilation system assuring the calculations were correct and choosing a radiant barrier that will significantly reflect heat away from the house. We found that Paul?s experience combined with his inquisitiveness, receptivity to different ideas and a willingness to go a bit out of his comfort zone very refreshing. West Shore also had to collaborated with other contractors on the best way to level the sagging roof. Ultimately we chose Westshore?s methodology to level out the roof. As a project manager I often see contractors and vendors unable to meet clients expectations. It is inevitable, especially when dealing with remodeling projects that have hidden ?surprises?. There is often a grey area as to who is responsible in these situations. What differentiates contractors is there ability to deal with the issue on a rational basis. Yet another is the desire and ability to step up to the challenge and correct the situation even at their own expense. We did run in to some ?speed bumps? in the project as well as some difference of opinion, but Westshore took an open view, resulting in a level steel roof and skylights. I found Westshore professional, courteous and worth every nickel paid to him. I recommend him, highly

We received estimates from 3 companies, and Westshore provided the best price for the service to be performed. Paul Fowler, the owner, was very clear about everything to be done, and I liked the fact that he didn't try to oversell any extras. Additionally, he provided an extensive list of other houses for which they had replaced roofs, and the list showed the addresses and the types of roofs. This allowed my wife and I to take a drive around and look at the roof that we wanted to install. There was not much of a backlog, and Westshore was able to start the process within a week and a half from when we signed our contract. The process was reasonably quick-the "tear off" happened in one day, and the roofs/gutters only took 2-3 days. The only issues that we had were that it took them a few extra days to finish the clean up and to remove the remaining unused material from the job. Also, we keep finding old shake nails around the yard, but in general I think that's going to happen with any provider. I also liked the fact that Paul pulled all permits and followed the appropriate process-I know that some companies aren't that thorough. Overall, we were very pleased with the job.

The roofing job itself seemed to go well. Communication and follow through problems with clean up and scheduling the permit.

It went fine. He is good at his job. He was always on time and finished his work in a timely and efficient manner. I thought that his price was fair enough.

Got multiple quotes. Felt that metal roofing is the best option.

The quoting process was good, they educated us on the various issues so we could understand and compare the quotes. We got 5 quotes and went with this company based on price (2nd to lowest by $200) and reputation (very good). They started on time and really made progress. They finished when they said they would and cleaned up. Their work was high quality. We left the house, it is just too noisy to be home. When we came back about mid-way through the project (after 3 working days). They spent the last day on trim so that is not too loud. The light tube is great, I would highly recommend getting one of these. Our kitchen is in the center of our house and we put a 24" light tube into it. Now it is like the light is on all day, very nice. We were able to replace 320W worth of fluorescent tubes with the tube. The color of the light is different (more blue), after a few weeks we did not notice. We did have 6 small issues which I called in after the work was finished. They sent a worker out promptly and took care of 5 of them. The 6th was still not to my (or my wife's) satisfaction and the owner came out. He is so nice, he understood our issue and took care of it himself the following week. We are satisfied and would use this company again - of course that would have to be a different house since this house will not need another roof in our lifetimes. One of the issues was nails sticking through the overhangs on the house. They took care of this once I asked them. The amount of mess a new roof makes is amazing. Our attic had sawdust and pieces of shingles in it. I cleaned these up with a shop vac, I did not ask them to clean up the attic. They did a once around outside with a magnet after working but I was finding staples and nails for quite some time after. I finally rented a magnet and got 3 handfuls of staples and nails. I am glad I did this. We also paid extra for a foil heat barrier to try to make the house cooler. I don't know if we can tell the difference on this. The once thing we have noticed is the peak vents cool down the attic at night much faster, the house does not hold onto heat as well as it used to. We also got new gutters, they look great and make the house look very nice.

Tommy came out and was able to supply an estimate the same day. I had two other companies come out. Westshore was the cheapest; the other two were on the Peninsula. We couldn't make up our minds about which color to pick; Westshore had some communications hiccups while we were trying to get a list from them of their installations. Once work was started they finished in 3 days. Excellent quality; it looks better than we'd hoped. Two small quibbles: their clean up between days was a little shoddy. But once done--no problem. Second: they said they'd come at 8 a.m, but showed up at 7:30.

The work was done in a timely manner. I wanted the job done prior to a date that I have reserved for a party and did finish the job ahead of schedule. The last thing that needed to be done was to clip all the excess/showing nails and they got them out.

They were very good. They were the middle bid, and they did really good work.

Roofing completed first and gutter had to wait for 10 days later (subcontractor problem).

WE GOT ESTIMATES FROM A NUMBER OF ROOFERS. WESTSHORE WAS ONE OF THE MOST RESPONSIVE, AND THEY HAD EXTENSIVE REFERENCES IN OUR AREA. WE WERE SATISFIED WITH THEIR ABILITY TO DO A QUALITY JOB. OTHER THAN THE FACT THAT THEY TOOK LONGER THAN PROMISED TO START THE JOB, EVERYTHING WENT SMOOTHLY. THE END RESULT IS A VERY NICE ROOF THAT SHOULD LAST A LONG TIME.

THE OWNER OF THE COMPANY WAS VERY INFORMATIVE AN THOROUGH WHEN PRESENTING HIS INFORMATION. HE PROVIDED US WITH ROOFING SAMPLES AND A LIST OF CUSTOMERS TO CONTACT. HIS WORKERS CAME ON TIME AND WERE VERY COURTEOUS. INCLUDING THE GUTTERS THE WORK TOOK LESS THAN 3 DAYS.

This company was good to work with. They were very prompt & courteous. They did the job in a timely manner. This company did a very good job with cleaning up after themselves. I would highly recommend this company to anyone.

The underlayment was straight, everything seemed all lined up, and looked good after they were done. They cleaned up their mess every day before they left so their was not a huge mess out in front of our house and neighbors house while the work was going on.
