+ 0 moreOverall, I felt there was not much value that I got from the service. The service personnel was polite and all, but I got no information of value that my system was better off than before. At the least, he should have shown me the before and after of main duct that is clearly visible to me. After he left, I checked the main duct...and it wasn't different to when I usually observed it when i clean the filter. In fairness, It could have been that my air ducts are clean anyway and not much dirt are present. If this was the case, I could have been told. I remember my neighbor had the same job done on before and I specifically observed the vacuum machine was hooked to their main duct instead of a peripheral smaller duct. This to me is more logical. Update as of 10/25/2011 The GM has diligently tried to contact me regarding my overall "Fair" rating. In our discussion, I sensed his genuine concern over a customer's (me) less than satisfactory experience on his company. He accepted with most of my aired concerns, and I truly believe he will used them to improve job performance in the future. Management's honest-to-goodness desire to improve their overall job performance has restored my confidence in this company and, therefore, I'm upgrading my overall rating to Good. If there is a separate rating for Management..I won't hesitate to give then AN EXCELLENT mark.
Description of Work: I signed up for one of Angie's Big Deals and saw this service for $197. My house is about 12 years and I thought it is about time to have my air duct clean. Putting my faith in Angie's choice of company to offer this deal, I went for it. The technician called before the appointment time and requested if he can can come over earlier. He was polite and went about his work. Since this is the first time that I requested for such work, I did not really know what to expect. What I expected from a professional is to explain what type of work he will do and, explain later in detail what he has accomplished. I feel the service person did not do well in this area. Had I not asked a few questions, I probably would not get any information. The following are my concerns: 1. I asked if I can see how much dust/dirt they extracted from my air ducts. I was told I can't see it because they are using a different type of vacuum that doesn't allow you to see the extracted dirt. 2. I was apprehensive why he connected the vacuum to small air-duct closes to the front door instead of the main bigger duct located at the 2nd floor. When the vacuum was running, I can't hardly feel any sucking power from the other ducts which is supposed to be connected to the vacuum machine. It us hardly believable that such low suction power can get extract any dust from the farthest air-ducts. 3. The vacuum took about 40 minutes long. Don't know of this standard but I think longer time is necessary. 4. He did some test with my A/C unit. I was not told of any result until I asked before he was about to leave. He said it was in good condition. Would I have been appraised had I not asked?

+ 1 moreI had purchased the 'two hour electrical work' special service, but knew the work I had in mind would cost more. The project scope was installation of three connected pendent lights and replacement/installation of an island hood (exhaust, electrical connection were already there). I was very pleased with the final product, the professionalism of the electrician, attention to detail, the craftsmanship of his work. I knew that the price would be dependent on how much time it actually took. I saw that the work was done without any tardiness, efficiently and progressed smoothly. I have nothing but good things to say based upon my experience. The total work took 6 hours. First two hours were the $120 special and the next 4 were billed at $120 per hour.
Description of Work: Installed three connected pendulum lights over a dining area. Installed /replacement an island hood in the kitchen. Services included some rewiring associated with the installation of the pendent lights, installation of a new switch, and venting associated with the hood.

The technician came out the next day I was available, put on paper boots to come in my house, explained what he would do and how it works - then got to work. Took about 3 hours, and I can feel the difference in the air flow from the vents and ducts.

They told me they would be there between 1 and 3 and they called to confirm. They showed up right at 130. Sal was very professional, he cleaned up after himself, and did an outstanding job overall.

+ 0 moreI used the Real Deal to have Valley come out to replace 3 chandeliers. The worker was on time and very focused on doing a good job. I had told them when I make the appointment that a tall ladder would be needed as I have vaulted ceilings at the entrance and the stairway. The worker knew how to remove the chandeliers and how to assemble the replacement units. He helped to ensure the chandeliers were the correct chain length and made adjustments to ensure that the chairs carried the weight and not the wire. I asked a lot of questions about wiring, dimmers, CFL light bulbs, etc., and each question received an experienced answer. I took some extra cards to give to my friends and neighbors, as everyone needs a qualified electrician, and Valley has the additional experience of heating and AC.
Description of Work: I used their Real Deal for 2 hours of electrical work for $120. I had them replace 3 chandeliers - one located on the stairs and very difficult to reach.

+ -1 moreAll of the interaction with the company are good and professional. Contacted, scheduled an appointment, made an arrangement, technician arrived on time. Very little time was spent with the AC unit, with few minutes spent inside the house. Inside the house, ac filter was replaced. Similar to my experience with another Angies List big deal, this was more of an inspection, and less of a tune-up. In both cases, it felt more like a mission to get your name in front of the customer, in case customer needs a new unit, or a bigger repair, in the future.
Description of Work: This is a review of AC Tune up, I obtained from Angies List big deal. Cost was $69, with listed value of $175. I feel that amount of service provided did not match what was listed in the Angies List description of the deal. It was not worth $69, and not worth $175.

+ 0 moreTech was on time, professional and competent. Had all fo the necessary equipment, knew what he was doing and got it done. After doing the tune up on the AC unit, he told me that it had a leak and was very low, or out of, freon. To fix it, I would have to make another appt. to have one of their service tech guys come out at a charge of $265 just to find out where the leak was. Then, there would be an additional charge to fix it. I checked around at other HVAC companies and found one that would come out to diagnose at no charge (A rated on Angieslist too!). I wound up going with that company and had them do the repairs as well.

I actually wasn’t at home when they came over but my husband was. He said that they were good. They showed up when they were supposed to and did what they said they would do. At the end of the service, he also let me know what I could/should be doing to avoid any problems with both the furnace and the AC. He also provided information and deals for yearly maintenance which we will sign up for. Considering he came on a rainy day and was cheerful about working on the AC outside, a really great technician! Would definitely use/recommend them!

I signed the paper work and he explained that if I had any problems I was to call them immediately. He left good instructions about what to do if it stopped working again. MY heater has been working since, This is after having several other companies come to look at it and not be able to fix it because it was electric,. + -1 moreI was told it would take about 11/2 hours from start to finish, and that was how long it took. The technician arrived when he said he would. He put down canvas on the hardwood floor to protect it from the vacuum hose. The work done seemed to be a thorough and efficient process. The air ducts had not been cleaned for at least 6 years that I know of, and the cost was well worth the benefit. We do not notice as much dust build up on surfaces as before the cleaning.
Description of Work: Air ducts were thoroughly cleaned by putting the vacuum hose in the air return and then manually using an air hose on each air vent to loosen any dust,etc. which might have been stuck to the vent grill, so that the vacuum hose could capture it.

+ -1 moreThey responded the same day when we asked for an estimate, and the work started shortly thereafter. They had to first remove the asbestos and then remove all of the old ducts (1 day). Then the heater and the new ducts were installed, and the entire job took just a little over two days. They were prompt, polite, and effecient, and actaully left the basement cleaner than when they arrived. And in addition, they actually pointed out a couple of other things that needed to be repaired, and these had nothing to do with the heater installation. Overall, we were very pleased with their work.
Description of Work: Replacement of 50 year old plus heater in a home that I co-own with my sister in law.
