Description of Work: New driveway, entry walkway, sidewalk, curb/gutter. |This was a pretty major front-yard redo and it came off without a hitch. They were punctual, sent large crews to speed the work and produced great results. The colored/stamped design on the driveway and walkway look great!

I called this provider, Valley Concrete, and I explained in detail what I needed done (floor leveling of a concrete slab in my first floor living room). The person on the line seemed to listen well and we set up an appointment for an estimator to come out. The appointment time was during work hours and so I stayed home from work that day, which was okay with me because I wanted to get the job rolling. The estimator arrived, and when I described the job again (floor leveling) and showed him the room, he said, "We don't do this kind of work." And he was gone in 15 seconds. This was a very negative experience, it was a waste of my time and it could have been prevented if the person on the phone line had understood even a little bit about concrete work.
Description of Work: The estimator came out but no bid was submitted and no work was done.

Description of Work: It was a delight of a project. We got a repair order from the city for our driveway approach. Did some shopping around, liked the price quote and reviews for Valley Concrete, they came on the first rain-free day, and after that it was chop-chop. Cutting that first day, demolition the next, poured concrete third day. Week later came to get the forms and Bob's your uncle. Each day they left an immaculately clean site. They were polite and professional. The end result is beautiful. We have a neighbor kitty-corner from us who used someone else, and looking at their results, I could really appreciate what a great job Valley Concrete did, by comparison the neighbor's sidewalk looks amateurish and sloppy. Oh and they also did all the interfacing with city hall for permits, scheduling inspections, etc. Great vendor. Highly recommend.
Issue: Finish Quality Finish crew did left flaws on the driveway and entry area. Situation was and quot;blame it on the customerand quot; because and quot;they did not know what the finish plan wasand quot; (a landscape architect plan was provided at quote and I reached out to them the Saturday before the pour to ask when we were planing to verify the finish plan - no response back). Estimator was a great guy and did a great job (Matt). Demo team was very good and clean/effective. Forms team was very good and flexible about final changes. Finish team left flaws in the work. They did come back and try fix some of the issues but were unable to fix board marks left behind. Valley Concrete acknowledged the quality problem and provided a discount on the bill. They also offered to remove the damaged section and re-pour it. However, I was told that it would look worse and not match the rest of the pour and and quot;would look 100 times worseand quot;. Result: Paid the final (discounted) bill to get the collections guy gone. Shame because it was a good experience until they washed off the salt and we found the quality of the finish.
Description of Work: Demo, haul off, pour new driveway and entry steps.

Great responses. clear upfront and fast.
Description of Work: My addition project needs new foundation (about 1000 sq ft) for supporting 2 story residential and 400 sq ft garage slab. After sending the architecture and structure drawings and making follow-up phone call, I got the quote back pretty fast. The total was about $22000 with spelled out exclusions. We had subsequent communication on the exclusions and I also got the clear responses pretty fast (within one day or two). Since my GC does not like the steel template exclusion (i.e. We have to provide these reusable steel templates one way or the other), we probably won't sub the foundation jobs to them. Nevertheless I would consider them in other jobs.

I couldn't be happier with the work done and the way it was performed. Valley scheduled the work in a timely fashion, got all the water and PGand E marking done, and got to work with large crews for the demo and the finishing. Everyone was very professional and efficient. I had some extra work done at the last minute and there was no problem. I will post some pictures later. Our patio is beautiful and sloped just right to drain away from our house, unlike the previous patio. Thanks, Valley!
Description of Work: I needed my sidewalk repaired/replaced where my street tree has lifted it up, and we decided to have our patio replaced at the same time. The sidewalk had to be sawed and removed, as well as some brick walkways I had put in. The sidewalk was replaced. The patio was demo'd and redone using colored concrete with a stamp finish.

In a word, Valley Concrete was fantastic. I wholeheartedly recommend them. Valley was suggested by my general contractor for the quality of their flat work; he has worked with them extensively in the past. We received 3 bids for the concrete work. Valley's price was in the middle. I gave them an and quot;Aand quot; for price as I factor in the quality of their work and that it wasn't that much more expensive than the lowest bid. A few things came up, from my side, after we signed the contract with them. My structural engineer had specified 2500 PSI concrete. After doing some research, I decided I wanted 3500 PSI concrete for the foundation and 4500 PSI concrete, denser rebar, and additional thickness for the slab (heavy machines and a lift planned). We also decided to add a grade beam. Valley was very fair with the change orders. The perimeter foundation top was within +/- 1/16 of an inch all around. I noticed that they ground the top in a few places to get it level -- nice touch. The slab turned out great. The strength of concrete is given by its cement-to-water ratio. Less water makes it stronger but harder to work with. The concrete delivery driver showed up and said “It’s pretty dry.” Dan, the guy in charge of my job, just said “Yup” and they started pouring. The guys finishing the slab seriously knew what they were doing -- absolutely no problem working with the low-slump concrete and the finish is superb. They were there the next day to cut the expansion joints, as agreed, zero drama. Three things really impressed me with Valley: 1. They really know what they are doing. They implemented all of the best practices for concrete slabs including putting down an extra thick vapor barrier, a thick curb at the edge of the slab, and diagonal expansion joints around the steel column supports. 2. They care a lot about the quality of their work. 3. They were professional in all of the dealings I had with them. The only real delays on the project were related to weather or changes I initiated. I am very pleased with both the quality of Valley’s work and the value I got for my money.
Description of Work: Valley did the excavation, site preparation, form work, and all of the concrete pouring and finishing pouring for a 940 square foot detached workshop. As we got into the project, we made some changes, at my request, to the scope of work, including an upgrade to higher strength concrete, the addition of a grade beam, and a thicker slab. The work involved footings for steel columns and some details more common to commercial construction than residential.

The work was good and the driveway now looks good. My only negative is that I was quoted 4-6 weeks from the time I tendered my deposit to the start of the job. It was actually 8 weeks until they started the job. If I had known this up front, I might have gone with another company. Also the company requires a $1,000 minimum so you wouldn't use Valley Concrete for very small jobs.
Description of Work: I had a section of concrete next to my driveway that was cracked and broken due to roots from a nearby tree lifting up the section. The old concrete was removed, the roots were dug up and removed, a wire mesh was placed at the bottom and new concrete was poured and finished.

We were very satisfied. The estimator (Dan Haniger) came when he was scheduled and gave us a reasonable quote. He agreed that we could leave some exposed aggregate that did not need replacing as well as other cement areas that were not cracked in place. In other words, he did not require that we start from scratch. The demo team arrived on a Thursday and the cement layers came the following Monday. One week later another crew came to remove the barriers, boards and do the final clean up. All of the workers we spoke to were very accommodating, eager to please and they did the job they were contracted to do well.

We couldn't be more pleased with the overall result! From start to finish, all crew members were exactly on time, neat, polite and accommodating. Working to our budget, the estimator and job foreman came up with a design that resulted in a lovely improvement to our home. The work was completed as scheduled. What impressed us the most was the attention given to details: Graceful joint cuts, beautiful aggregate exposure, precise brickwork. We wouldn't hesitate to highly recommend this company!
Description of Work: Removed old concrete driveway, front aggregate sidewalk and stairs leading to garage. Poured new fiberglass reinforced concrete driveway with rebar reinforced aggregate pads in front of garage; installed new aggregate front sidewalk and stairs leading to garage, trimming them out in brick; created new flagstone walk and patio area set in mortar; repaired cracks in existing backyard sidewalk by cutting out the cracks and laying in brick.

Everyone involved in this project was professional, courteous, on time and highly skilled. Good teamwork was displayed by all. We worked with an estimator, three different crews (one for demolition and building forms; one for pouring and finishing the driveway, porch, and walkways; and one for the driveway approach) and a supervisor. Everyone worked hard and gave great attention to detail. Pride of workmanship was evident in every phase of the job. We're thrilled with the work, and don't have a single complaint. Thank you, Valley Concrete!
Description of Work: Valley Concrete removed our old driveway and a raised brick planter bed beside it. They also removed the hedge dividing our property from our neighbors. The old driveway was only wide enough for one car, and we wanted to park two cars. They made suggestions to improve upon our design sketches. After building the forms, they poured the new driveway, front porch and two walkways leading from the porch to the driveway and to the sidewalk. The concrete was colored and given a stamped finish. Also, in our neighborhood, the sidewalk edges curve down into the gutter. The original driveways in the neighborhood are the same way, which makes for a very bumpy ride pulling into your driveway. Valley Concrete fixed that for us. With permits from the city, they removed the sidewalk in front of our driveway and poured a new approach, sloping the approach down to meet the street. Major amount of concrete involved: 2 truckloads for the driveway, porch, & walkways and then 1 more for the sidewalk.
