Urban Home Design

Description of Work: We found Urban Home Design, Inc through an ad in the newspaper. We went to their showroom with the original design for the kitchen remodel prepared elsewhere. UHD has Betty and Vic at the showroom. Betty reviewed and updated the design done for us previously and Vic provided an estimate, and visited our property to take measurements and offer advice. After looking for cabinets and planning our remodel at IKEA, we decided we are not do-it-yourself folks, and didn't want to buy, transport, assembly and install cabinets. And, didn't want to pay extra to have the cabinets assembled. UHD offered demolition & haul away, installation of new cabinets & countertops with a selection of 4" backsplash or more options, all plumbing hookups, and a free stainless steel sink of our choice. The design and estimate were email to us. We reviewed it and made additional adjustments to the design at no additional costs. We opted for a large refrigerator, and the design was revised to address it. We made our selection of cabinets, sink style, and granite countertop in the showroom. We did not change our tile flooring, though offered, we stayed with our existing flooring. Work began on 1/2/2013 with demolition, and repair of drywall behind the old sink, cabinet installation took approximately 2.5 days, countertop installation one day and was completed by 1/9/2013. We purchased all new appliances and installation of these took approx. 3 days. There were a few extras, including installation of cabinet door handles, lighting fixture removal, and repair of vent piping for the stove. Our kitchen is a basic galley kitchen, well defined and small, with an "L" shaped. We did not relocate or change any of the plumbing or electrical for this reason. These stayed as original, so there were no major costs associated with this. The new cabinets, appliances and fixtures make the kitchen look much larger and better organized. We did had more counter space and cabinets along the "L" shaped area of the kitchen. We now have enough kitchen storage for everything. And, we were able to add a pantry to the kitchen.
