Aaron came out to assess what we needed to do with our trees on the property. I had approximately zero sun in the backyard, and was tired of blowing off my roof every few days. We talked about limbing portions of the Douglas firs in the back. But when we looked at one of them, it was a double trunked fir that had signs of rot. This tree was approx. 175 feet tall. I showed him another tree in the middle of our deck and said I am worried about limbs falling onto the house. Douglas firs have a reputation of cutting houses in half in our neighborhood. After looking at 3 other douglas firs I had in the front (leaning towards neighboring houses), we decided together that we should just take them all out, Including the trees in the back. The crew was never late, they came exactly when they said they would. It was unpredictable weather with wind/rain, so we would stay in close contact about exact times. We were in agreement that taking down trees were not worth accidents for the sake of rushing in bad weather. The climbers on the team were amazing. I have never seen anything like that in my life. I took a photo of one of the crewmembers 200 feet up at the top of one of the firs after it was completely limbed. These guys were pro. My wife works from home during the week occasionally, and I had zero issue with her being home alone with the crew working. They were safe and courteous. What started out as a project to take out a few limbs, ended up being 5 full trees. I am very glad we went this route. I was never pressured by Aaron when he bid the project, he was honest and up front about the cost. Full disclosure: our neighbor across the street paid for one of the trees that was leaning towards them. That was not included in my bid. The garden my wife wanted will actually happen this spring.

Our property now looks amazing and we are feeling more secure should fires come our way up here in the Santa Cruz mountains. The oaks were so dense on our property that some were growing up under other oaks and they were all getting overly mossy and somewhat unhealthy, in addition every tree having a number of small (2-3" diameter) dead branches. Since Aaron (the owner) is a certified arborist he knew what to do to limb up the trees and thin out some branches making them better able to get sunshine and more air movement through them. His crew was very professional and they used the proper tree climbing apparatus (i.e. not spike climbing) to protect the trees while taking out dead wood and thinning out branches. They worked hard all days and cleaned up before leaving each day. They asked if we wanted to have the chipping hauled away or blown back on the property and where to blow it. We checked around on pricing and Aaron's pricing is fair and is what other licensed, insured tree companies are charging in our area. We will definitely use Tree of Knowledge again.
