THE FIXIT TEAM INC

The job has been going on for more than two months with no conclusion. We have had many, many defects, some of which were fixed and some were just plastered over. We had a carpenter who was drinking on the job and was fired. Workers have been doing some unsafe things like operating circular saws without gloves and eye protection. Flooring underlayment was installed without putting mortar down first so now our tile is likely to crack in short order. Electrical outlets have been forgotten, added, removed again and added again, so much so that we do not know if we have the proper connections and numbers of circuits. Workers left huge messes for my wife and I to clean up. Workers have borrowed my tools without permission. The contractor assured us that it would be best to install hardwood flooring before other work was complete, and now the floor is full of dings and dents. Workers removing the old flooring were throwing broken boards against the wall, leaving dozens of dents in the wallboard. Workers broke out window screens and have not replaced them. A window was installed, removed, installed, removed and installed again and we now doubt the integrity of the window and its seals. The window frame is bent and the window box is skewed. Overall the work has been extremely unprofessional and we are angry and unsatisfied by their attempts to remedy the situation.

We agreed in the contract of a price of 2800. Once job was completed the Fixit team staff told us we had to pay additional $406. We questioned why it was not in the original contract & she told us there was a "blurb" that stated "materials extra". Plus, they penalized us 20% because the workmen had to buy some bags of cement & nails. This makes the 20% add-on totally unreasonable and unavoidable from a customer's view. This makes the quote misleading. We paid to rent a truck to haul all of the materials, which had we have know, would have also purchased the other materials needed (rather than incur that 20% penalty). Since the store they purchased from is located down the street, this would have been very convenient for us to handle. Shaun Baldin, CLSB, of the contractor board ruled in our favor and we were refunded our money by the bond company.
