+ -1 moreThe San Jose Awning repair team came out and inspected the awning. San Jose Awning's diagnosis: motor shot, $1,313 to replace, and they would not tell me how long that would take until I signed the replacement contract. I had noticed that, while the repair team was checking it out, the motor worked when they bypassed the switch. Instead of following their diagnosis, we replaced the switch ($26), and everything works fine. They either did not know what they were talking about, or they were trying to get me to waste my money.
Description of Work: This company installed my awning in 2004. That went fine. This relates to their subsequent servicing. In 2011, the awning quit retracting. We called them. They came out to diagnose and potential repair for a $200 charge. They made us sign a contract, an unusual hassle for a service visit.
