Description of Work: I hired Repipe specialists to repipe my duplex. Inside the duplex to the meters. |The salesman was not honest. In the future I will always record their words. |The first day of work went ok. They said they would call to make an appointment to do the sheetrock after the house was inspected. I went out of town on December 31st and returned late January 3rd. The morning of the 4th I saw that the pipe leading into the meter was spraying water. I called repipe but was told to call their sub contractor, Quality plumbing & repipe Inc. I called them and I was told they would call back. They did not call back and I had to call them again. Finally someone called back on the 5th and I was told they would fix the leak, do the sheet rock and install the master bathroom fixtures they did not put in initially. I asked them when someone would be out to inspect the work and was told an inspector was not needed. So they showed up on the 6th and did the sheetrock, fixed several minor issues and the water leak. |So it only took them 7 days to fix a good size water spray during a drought! |They also said that they were not going to replace the master bathroom faucets because it was not in the contract. Which it is. |My husband talked with several people, on many different days, to finally get them to install the faucets. | |Then their is a puddle of water bubbling up between me and my neighbors meters. They sent two guys out who dug up some of the dirt surrounding my meters and said it wasn't their fault. |The neighbor was kind enough to look at his pipes leading up to his meters and there was huge hole where the original leak had eroded the dirt under my neighbors pipe and had caused them to sag and to leak. He replaced the dirt packing it in tightly and the leaking stopped. |However my meters are falling in on themselves because the workers did not properly replace the dirt under and around the meters. |I once again called on May 16th and was told someone would call back. I am still waiting for them to call and send someone out to fix my meters. | |Repipe specialist never came back to my property to check on their sub contractors work. |They have called about the remaining 5% balance though. |I had become complacent when checking out companies that were rated A on Angie's list. My mistake. If I would have checked their yelp review I would have never called them for a quote. | |However the dirt that |

They were prompt and did a good job. The crew was also great; efficient, and knowledgeable! They explained everything when I had questions. There were a few complications; one, the drain underneath one of the sinks started leaking, so they had to fix that, including the drywall. Also, they re-used a flexible connection for the water heater, which apparently was not up- to-code now (I had an inspector check out the work), so they came back to replace that. However, their callbacks were prompt and I have no complaints overall.
Description of Work: They re-coppered the entire piping from the street to the inside of the home. The materials they used and the way they connected everything was superior, including the prep work involved.

The service was fine, and they did a very good job overall! They brought in enough technicians to get the job done within one day, and they had a supervisor that worked well with the crew.
Description of Work: They completely re-piped my home; they replaced the galvanized pipes with copper. They also did some patch work, since they had to cut into the walls to get the job done. They were also able to find a problem that I had underneath my home due to termite damage.

Having specialized in repiping for over 20 years and completed well over 20,000 homes we are normally extremely competitive in our pricing. Many times in this industry, people can receive bids that appear to be cheaper, but do not contain anywhere near the same scope of work. What I can say is that we do quality work in both PEX and Copper, have a LIFETIME GUARANTEE and do it all very competitively.

When I entered into a contract with Repipe Specialists, I was informed that it would take one day to repipe my home, one day for the city inspector to inspect the work, and then one day to patch the holes that were made during the repiping. It was six weeks before the city inspector passed their work, and that was after two failed attempts. It took approximately six visits from their various crews during this time to work on my home. And each time, they were late to the appointments with me, by up to two and a half hours, which was a huge inconvenience. For each appointment, I confirmed the time with their office and asked them to make sure that their crew would not be late and I would be reassured that that would be the case, but they would always be late. I was not living at the property at the time, so I had to make a one hour drive to meet with them. It was additionally upsetting because they would often tell me about how long the drive was from San Jose, where they are located, to San Francisco. If I had known that would be such an issue, I would not have hired them. Furthermore, that did not seem to be an issue until after the repipe began. They were supposed to provide and install brushed nickel finished tub and shower kits, and they never did. The last I heard on this matter was that they were being ordered and that I would be contacted to have them installed. Their patch work is far from being acceptable. In some areas of my home, their "patch" work consists of placing sheetrock over the holes and not flush with the wall. This makes the wall stick out the thickness of the sheetrock. One hole was never patched and remains exposed to this day. They were also supposed to remove visible sections of the original piping, but that also was never completed. Repipe Specialists contacted me asking for the final payment on the contract. Considering the amount of work that has not been completed, the amount of work that needs to be redone, and the amount of time that has elapsed, that is completely absurd. I called and emailed them repeatedly and never received a response.
Description of Work: Repipe Specialists replaced all of the water pipes in my home in San Francisco. It was and continues to be a horrible experience and a huge inconvenience.

Response from REPIPE SPECIALIST INC
I recently saw the report that this member posted about our company and as General Manager for Repipe Specialists, Inc, I am always disappointed when any experience from a customer is less than positive. However, while I respect the right of any customer to “air” their disappointment about a service, I feel that the information should be accurate and fairly stated. I do not believe that his report hits the mark on either point. Examples: Corrections from a city inspector are not uncommon in any construction project. I make no excuses though for any errors made, nor do I place an unrealistic expectation on there never being any. What he fails to note is that on two occasions we tried to set up a re-inspect with the City and both times this fell through because he could not leave work or was otherwise unavailable. He also did not mention that we offered to have an employee remain in his home to stand inspection, but he insisted on being there himself. One of his cancellations was on 5/20/2009. He notes that a brushed nickel shower valves was ordered and never installed. It is true one was ordered, however what was omitted from the report was that an alternative was installed during the repipe and he informed our shop owner afterwords that he preferred to have this left in. The option was always his. He makes it seem that communication from our office was always lacking, whereas, there have been numerous messages left for him from the office manager and shop owner following up on any outstanding issues. He has failed to respond to these messages and as noted never made the final payment of $800. It should be noted that the job was started on 5/15/09, which was a Friday. Inspections were called for and carried out the beginning of the following week within 1-2 days of beginning. Corrections were completed on 5/21/09. Per our logs, an ongoing dialogue with him to arrange for a re-inspection was continuing as of 6/4/09. This is the primary cause of the delay in completing the job; otherwise, it was completed within 3 business days. The repipe job is finished. While it did not go as easily as intended, the work itself was completed quickly and correctly and any disagreement with post-completion inspections with a city office did not and should not warrant “straight Fs” from this member.

I called re-pipe specialist to do the job. We went to a home show by Re-Pipe and we had that person give an estimate. They scheduled to do the work. I thought that the people who came were re-pipe specialist, but they sent a sub contractor company. I had never heard of the company. Re-Pipe specialist should have told me about this. After they finished the work they gave me a number, which I can call for further questions or work relating re-piping. They did a pretty decent job in front of me. In the end I was not totally happy. When they left the sight I told them that I wanted someone from Re-pipe specialist to call me. However, nobody called me. Later I got a letter from them offering a free gas. I declined the offer and sent them a letter. They did not respond to my letter. The price was fairly reasonable. They were supposed to have a head lead person or somebody from re-pipe to be on the job site. The sub-contracted people did a nice job and were nice to deal with. They got the pipes through the crawl space under the house and I dint see what they were doing. After they left my son looked under there and the biggest issue I have is the heating and ducting is under there as well. To get to the most remote corner they would have had to crawl under or over it. The ducting was dropped on the ground the guy went over it. The ducting was never put back. They came back and looked at it, not admitting they did it, they did not have enough knowledge to know you don't know that you can't leave ducting in the open air. The second thing is that when they did their piping they did soldering. They put down cardboard but we had just had brand new paves put down. When they left I saw flux stains that remain even today. It was not huge but enough to be tacky. That also happened with the garage floor. The third thing was they claim to take the old piping, which they left under the house. The TV cable that went under the house was on the ground which was stapled overhead before. When they replaced the outside faucet, instead of it coming out at 90-degree level it came out in an angle. That just shows sloppy work. Some of the other piping under the house was laid on the ground but not disconnected where it was losing air. I took pictures of all this. The fact that they never called back in addition to all of these things is why I am unhappy. From that standpoint I am very disappointed. They never called to see why I was dissatisfied.
Description of Work: They did water pipe installation and re-piping in October 2008. They removed the old pipes and installed copper pipes from the front of the house. They replaced the galvanized pipes with copper pipes.

9/19/07 I signed a contract for a total repipe on my home for $7,952.00 and paid an $800.00 deposit. Hal Hawkins was the salesman, and we signed with him because he gave a great presentation and because he told us the job would only take 1 day for the repipe, 1 for patching and 1 day for an inspection appointment. 10/22/07 After trying for 3 hours to get the workers to wrap things up, I finally had to throw them out after 9 p.m! They were not finished, but the hot/cold water was reversed, the water heater was downsized without our permission, the recirculation pump was removed and not replaced, no soft water. 10/23/08 Since they were "almost finished" the night before, I figured they'd need a couple of hours to finish up. They were late showing up, and were not done by the 3:30 deadline I'd given them for that day as I had to leave. I asked their general manager JR to send a different crew and supervisor to finish up - they never complied. 10/24/07 They were here all day again. They had to shut power to the house, but didn't wait for me to get the computer shut off. They blew the power supply! They were supposedly done, but there were obvious things incomplete. They failed inspection. 10/25/07 James called wanting a check for $350 for the grounding rod they installed that was extra. They didn't put in a rod - they hooked up a wire. My boss referred me to a plumber he used, who came and inspected the work and said he was embarassed to call it plumbing. The circulation pump was installed backwards and the wires to the unit weren't strapped, the soft water wasn't working, not all the hot water pipes were insulated, sink and toilet fittings were supposed to be hidden in the wall and/or not sticking way up out of the floor, the soldering was sloppy and burned and the external pipes were an ugly mess. 10/26/07 We spoke to Linda in Repipe's corporate office. She said she couldn't make us happy because we'd already been through this. She totally ignored the offer I made of paying them $3,500.00 total and getting out of our lives. She also refused to provide me with an itemized list of charges or an updated amount that reflected the reduced scope of work (they didn't go into the walls, the patching amt. needed to come off) 10/29/07 Inspection failed. Scott, Sr. Supervisor was sent to survey everything. 11/12/07 John arrived alone to do the actual work. The recirc. pump and the water softener check valve were backwards. 10/13/07 John was still not finished at 8:00 p.m. He left and turned on the main on his way out the door. 15 mins later I found water gushing under the house. Our landline was flooded and there was a good 5 inches of mud. 11/14/07 John didn't show up. JR sent someone from another job. Carlos arrived w/no tools and no idea he was to go under the house in the mud. 11/29/07 Inspection failed again. 12/15 & 12/16/07 I paid another plumber $3,000.00 to correct all. 12/26/07 Permit finaled. 3/3/08 I started receiving collection notices.
Description of Work: Complete copper repipe of a 1400 sf home. They sent a subcontractor Plumbers On Call after telling me they wouldn't be subbing the job out. They were late, downsized/downgraded existing fixtures w/o permission, would not leave until I was screaming at them after 9 p.m. to get out, installed check valves and appliances backwards, caused flooding under the house, ruined phone lines, crashed computer, failed all 3 inspections and started sending us to collections rather than negotiate price. They did not do anything they promised: quick, professional, hassle-free, clean and 100% guaranteed to my satisfaction. They were given many chances to correct their problems and were unable to do so. Their managers, owners and customer service people will insult and threaten you when you complain or want to negotiate. Thank goodness we only paid them the deposit. We had to hire a lawyer to get this company off our backs.

I am not very pleased. I had a bit of problems with them. They are not on Angie's List and honestly, I can understand why. They are not very good. First of all, they took a long time to finish the job. They had dug a hole in the yard to get to some pipes and they never came back to fill the hole in. I ended up starting the filling myself. There was debris everywhere and they also accidentally punched through a wall in the house, they never fixed. I am displeased.

We have been having lots of difficulty getting them to schedule the final inspection with the city. Allegedly the city prefers morning appointments, and we have not been able to be home for this. Also they forgot to replace a screen in the crawlspace when they re-piped. As a result rats got into the house; we expected them to pay for an exterminator (ended up only costing $100), but the owner refused to return my wife's or my call, despite telling us (or his staff telling us) he would. At this point it has put a sour ending on what was otherwise an OK job.
Description of Work: This is a follow-up to an earlier report we submitted. The work done was copper re-piping (whole house). Included running a new line to the street, and installing a grounding rod in the garage, per the city inspector's finding.

Work went very well. Large crew came in and completed job in two days! Water was back on by second evening. Other bidders would have taken 4-5 days, using just a couple of workers. The only follow up work that remained to be done was patching holes that needed to be cut into laundry room, kitchen, and baths to access kitchen and bathroom fixtures.
Description of Work: Replaced rusted galvanized pipe with copper throughout entire house, using 1" at house entrance, through garage to under house, 3/4" for major lines under house and 1/2" risers. Installed pressure reducing valve at entrance. High quality U.S. made Schedule "L" pipe used throughout. Also installed: new water heater (included in price), new shower hardware in master bath (included in price), new toilet (purchased separately. All work done with city permits, work performed to code, inspected and some additional work done as required by inspector to bring existing structure to current code.

The work crews were punctual and polite. When they got into trouble with the bedroom shower valve, they stayed late until I returned with a replacement valve, otherwise, would have had to shut off all the house water entirely. Crew of 4 came for 1st day's job, 3 for patching & addressing inspector's items. My only minor complaints would be that I sometimes didn't get a return phone call, and the patching job was not perfectly smooth, although I freely admit this may be typical quality as I am not an expert on this. They did however add a small patching job, fixing my son's creative carpentry with the doorknob for free. Overall I would recommend them.
Description of Work: All pipes replaced with copper. Included main line out to the street. Some patching required in the bathroom area, under the bathroom sink, and under the kitchen sink. Inspector found leak at water meter, also required insulating the hot and cold water piping, sealing penetrations at service entry & hose bibs, resealing garage firewall, and providing electrical tie-in to grounding rod, was probably not in house before so not anything Repipe Specialists were responsible for. Plumbing work was subcontracted to Genmor Plumbing. All items taken care of on 2nd day. My wife noticed that the screen to the crawl space was not repaired, we have not notified Repipe Specialists yet. Found that low water pressure in bedroom shower was due to clogged drain. They tried to clear it, and had partial success, but then valve would not shut off. I needed to buy a replacement valve at Osh. Over phone receptionist quoted $300 for grounding rod work, later told me it was supposed to be $380. Took $300.

It was my understanding that the the company(Repipe Specialists Inc.) did not subcontract out but had their own plumbers do the work.(although they had previously subcontracted out). The company repipes your house in one day. When the plumbers came to repipe, they(about 4 plumbers) were all wearing Repipe Specialist shirts. However, when I went outside, I saw that the company truck said Genmor Plumbing. Once you sign the contract w/repipe specialists, you are given the phone number of Genmor Plumbing to set everything up with. (Genmor Plumbing 408-855-8348) The plumbers were very nice, and I think they did good work. They forgot to insulate the pipes on the bottom of house and give me the warranty. The office staff did not return my phone calls, so I had to call them. The office staff gave me erroneous information as to when the plumbers would come. Believe plumbers came on time when told by the company when to come. I got a warranty from Repipe Specialists not Genmor Plumbing.
Description of Work: They replaced old lead pipes with new cooper pipes and a new 40g water heater. They did a removal of the old water heater. No sheetrocking was done. That would have been approx $900 more. They did 3 bedroom, 2 1/2 baths, but the shower/tubs had already been done.

They were very good and professional showing up on time and working hard. They arrived as planned with a full crew and then determined that it would be better for us to reschedule after our bathroom tear down was completed so they could change our full shower pipes with minimal impact. They did our full house in one day, but our main line ran into a second day since it was a big job. Their prices were reasonable compared to the 4 other bids we received with the best warranty and attentive service.
Description of Work: They replaced all the pipes in the house with copper piping including changing the two showers to new valves and controls (which we provided). They replaced our main line to the house with our very long property and a tree and hedge in the path. They changed all the hose bibs that are attached to the house and also one hose bib in the front of the property.

THE MAN WHO DID THE ESTIMATE WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL. HE DESCRIBED EXACTLY WHAT WAS TO BE DONE AND INCLUDED PHOTOS FROM PREVIOUS JOBS TO ILLUSTRATE HIS POINTS. THE WORK WAS SUBCONTRACTED TO A PLUMBER IN OUR AREA. IT MAY HAVE BEEN CHEAPER TO CONTACT THE PLUMBER DIRECTLY; HOWEVER, WE FELT THAT WE HAD A BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF THE WHAT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN.
Description of Work: ALL WATER SUPPLY LINES IN A 1100 SQ. FT., SINGLE BATH HOUSE WERE REPLACED WITH USA TYPE L COPPER PIPING IN A SINGLE DAY. A MINIMAL AMOUNT OF PATCHING WAS ALSO PERFORMED LATER.
