They added the water softener with copper piping. Checked with culligan before going with them and they were almost 2k above and only offered to do pex piping. Overall the experience was good with Randazzo.

I contacted 3 different water softener contractors for estimates and I went with Randazzo's. I found Rick to be straightforward, practical and down to earth. He scheduled the initial consult fairly quickly and then arrived on time and was very patient with all my questions. His price was around the same as one of the other estimates, give or take a few bucks. What won me over was his Yelp and Angies List reviews, plus as I mentioned his direct and no fuss approach to explaining the product and the installation needs. As for the install that went fine. His plumbing contractor (William) was professional, detailed, and hard working. The install took one day for all 3 systems. Much of the installation was the need to lay additional plumbing under the house since our house did not have the requisite plumbing -- a sign that our old house has never had a water softener until now. Also, Rick had me select what I wanted for the faucet for the RO system. And he had me do this ahead of time so that the part was available on the day of install. I appreciated that I then got the style and trim I wanted and not some default generic part. Around a month after the install I had a issue with the brine tank getting filled up with water that needed follow up and Rick was responsive and lived up to my impression of his professionalism. I also really appreciated Rick's salesmanship so to speak. He did NOT oversell product and for this I really appreciate his approach. For instance on the RO system he was specific about what I needed (actually he in some ways tried to talk me out of an RO system) in regards to the number of "stages" for the quality of water from our water retailer. Also, he inquired why I wanted a whole house water filter (GAC) and made sure I understood that it was not really "needed", but proceeded since I've always wanted one for the sake of less chlorine in water used for bathing. Also, a nice touch in my opinion is he took the owner's manual that came with the water softener hardware and marked it up for the content that was relevant to the unit that was installed. This way when one goes and looks at the manual years later it's clear which version of the product we have installed and what sections are applicable for the control unit he installed, plus the version of the tank itself. Also, on the follow-up visit he gave me the salt details so that we can purchase the correct type of salt for the brine tank, as I bought pellets by mistake the first time I went to Home Depot to get salt to be ready for when it was time to replenish the brine tank. As for using the products themselves - I LOVE softened water! Until you have softened water you don't know what you're missing when you get accustomed to all that hard water. Our dishwasher is looking better as the hard water buildup starts to diminish. Also our glass shower doors are so much better, granted I needed to do some scrubbing with vinegar and dawn to get some of the hard water off. But there's no new hard water buildup. Also, I've been very happy with how much LESS product you need for showering, hair washing, hand washing, cleaning, etc. It's amazing to me how many years I've put up with hard water. As for the RO system I love our drinking water now. I do love the taste and lack of odors, etc. and the water comes right from my tap and it tastes better than bottled water. So if you're reading this review because you're thinking about the possibility of softener water and you live in a hard water area, then I really believe that you would be very satisfied with both the product that Randazzo's deals in plus the service level, including any follow-up needs and a worry free installation then do check out Randazzo's Water Conditioning.
Description of Work: Randazzo's installed 3 systems into our house: 1) a water softener 2) a whole house water filter (GAC) and 3) a reverse osmosis (RO) system. The initial install was back in August of this year (2015) and we've been very happy with installation.

Description of Work: I spoke with the owner who came by to look at the availability of a drain as well as the loop for the water softener so he could give me a good estimate on any plumbing work that may be needed. He gave a very reasonable quote and I had it installed a couple of days later. I've only had it for a few weeks but have no problems with it and really enjoying the soft water! Highly recommended.

Live in Southern Santa Clara County? You need a water conditioner. Need a water conditioner? Go to Randazzo's. I called Randazzo's before I moved into a new house in San Jose. Having lived in San Jose for 2 years prior, I became intimately familiar with the special breed of ground water in the city and the havoc it created for my appliances, water fixtures, and my own skin and body. So I had looked into Randazzo's months before I moved, seeing the good ratings both here and on Yelp. Let's be clear; Randazzo's does not have sales people. It says so on their website, and Rick will tell you that almost immediately over the phone. What that means is that it might not exactly sound like they're tripping over themselves to sell you a product when you call. I found them a bit and quot;gruffand quot; at first, but I am glad that I got past that. When I first called, it was before I moved, and Randazzo's told me to call after I moved. So I did, and mentioned that I wanted them to give me a quote the following week, but Rick didn't know their schedule at this point and said they would call me back the following week. He gave me an estimate of what a water softener would cost over the phone. He also gave me an estimate for a reverse osmosis filtration system, but almost discouraged me from getting one, saying that I might not mind drinking the conditioned water - especially if it was going to a filter in my refrigerator. Later I got a call saying that the plumber that Randazzo's uses (not an employee of Randazzo's) was in the area and could stop by if I was available that afternoon. So the plumber, William I believe, came by and took a look at where the water softener would go as well as any filtration system. Later on, I got a call from Rick with a quote which, surprisingly, was a little less than originally expected. I went with the filtration system as well because my spouse has high blood pressure and we didn't want to risk the refrigerator filtration system not picking up the sodium. More importantly, this quote was significantly (we're talking many hundreds...if not a thousand) less expensive than other competitors. You know, those with salesmen. Rick and I had a few more phone discussions before installation. While I wouldn't categorize any of our discussions as unfriendly, the latter two were rather enjoyable, with the usual pleasantries of wishing each other a nice holiday weekend, etc. The following week, William was back again to install the water softener and the reverse osmosis filtration system. There were other people doing work on the house, but William just got to work and didn't get in my way at all. At the end, he showed me how both systems worked, collected two separate checks (one for him, one for Randazzo's) and off he went. About one month in, both products are working amazingly well. Our dishes look fantastic. Our glasses and cookware had developed an annoying white film since we moved to San Jose. No matter what we tried to do, we couldn't seem to get rid of it. One wash cycle after installing our water softener, and the white film was completely gone. The soap scum we're used to scrubbing off of our showers at least once a month? Not in this house. Soap and shampoo lathers easier. And the drinking water is amazing - like having a constant supply of bottled water from our faucet. I don't want to imply that Randazzo's turned our lives into a fairy tale, but it came close. Only downside is that the products aren't that easy to understand and maintenance (once we have to start maintenance) seems a bit complicated. But, if we can't understand the manuals, I am sure that Randazzo's will help us. We are happily recommending them to our neighbors. So go ahead, get quotes from elsewhere. It will make you feel better once you choose Randazzo's.
Description of Work: Provided a water conditioner and reverse osmosis water filtration system, which was installed by a separate plumber that Randazzo's sent.

I don't have the receipt with me so I probably have the cost slightly off. Will correct it when I check. These guys were great! They don't have a side business selling water softeners so they install one brand of high quality, dependable water softener and you don't get an annoying sales pitch for things you don't need. I did wonder if the unit might be overkill for my small 1400 sq ft home, but given that my last cheap Home Depot water softener completely died after only 8 years, something built to last seemed like a good idea. Also, the water in my neighborhood is incredibly hard and without a good water softener appliances quickly get clogged up and crud immediately shows up on glass and fixtures. A good water softener is essential. They came highly recommended by neighbors who also used them. They were prompt, efficient, tidy, and good to work with. They also noticed some unusual plumbing that had been done in the previous installation that they took the time to explain to me and resolve. After they were done with the installation they walked me through all of the operation and gave me a good education. Their estimate was accurate. Quite happy with the results!

The experience was fine from start to finish. Rick Randazzo came to the house to view the pipe layout and discuss options, costs, and any issues. He spent a good deal of time explaining what the setup would be and how it would be installed, and gave very knowledgeable answers to all my questions. Once I had decided to go ahead with the installation, he quickly arranged with a plumber who he works with (I think almost exclusively), and I was able to have the installation on a Saturday. The plumber came on time, was very professional, and did a great job. Afterward, I got a nice thank-you note from the company encouraging me to call if I had any questions. I did have one, and they responded very quickly. This was an absolutely fantastic company to deal with.

Our area has very hard water and we finally decided to put a softener in. I called Randazzo's as they had the highest rating on Angie's List and are also a long established family business. They came over the same day I called and after thoroughly understanding the issue, gave me a quote on the spot. This was on a Tuesday. I asked them how quickly they could start and the answer was Thursday. They made me well aware that we would have no water all day Thursday and the plumber showed up promptly at 8am Thursday. He was fantastic, professional and finished is the exact time he promised. Everything was cleaned up and the softener has worked perfectly with no leaks anywhere. I would highly recommend Randazzo's

My Sears water softner was failing. I called and they were very helpful in diagnosing the problem. After some diy diagnositics I called back and had them came out to verify. Agreed we needed a replacement and they agreed to a time and price. Checking online confirmed the price as reasonable. I chose to go with a higher quality unit (as opposed to another Sears unit) based on belief that current units from Sears do not have same quality. After installation is included the difference is not very large. On the appointed day they arrived prompltly on time as promised and completed the work quickly and effectively.

We decided to put in a water softner after nearly all of our dishes and silverware were completely ruined by the hard water. We're so glad we went with Randazzo's. I have nothing but good things to say. Rick was professional, on time, and kept all of his commitements. He made sure that I understood all of my options - and made recommendations about where to keep water hard. We ended up running the soft water everywhere except the yard and the cold water in the kitchen (didn't want the extra sodium in the cold water we drink). The job only took 4 hours including all of the plumbing modifications that needed to be made. His prices are fair and you feel like you are really getting a quality product. I have no reservations recommending Randazzos and would use them again and again.

We came home one day to find that many of our faucets were plugged. It turned out our old water softener had gone bad and sent gunk through our pipes. We noticed the Randazzo tag on our old water softener, and also checked Angie's List, then we called Randazzo's. Rick came out quickly and checked out the system. Within a couple of days we had a new water softener that was working well. We also got some good advice about how to proceed in cleaning out our pipes, and generally good feedback on our plumbing.

Randazzos were great to work with. Were prompt and very professional. Rick took time to fully explain all our options. Price was quite good. When he was out to give us an estimate, Rick was kind enough to listen to some hot water problems we were having in the midst of some bathroom remodeling. Our contractor had been unwilling to take a good enough look at the issue (he had us needlessly by a new water heater instead), but Rick showed us how we could easily demonstrate to the contractor that we had a "cross-over" problem and was able to make an accurate guess as to the cause. During the installation, Rick took the time point out a couple areas where rodents could get into our garage from under the house, and gave us details on how to fix them. Working with Randazzos was a very pleasant experience!

This is a family owned business that has been around for a long time. I live in the Great Oaks Water area of San Jose and hard water here has always been a problem. The products Randazzo's offer are great. The two brothers are very resposive and easy to deal with. The price was more attractive than most others for a similar product. The price was less than 2/3 of what it would have cost to go with another company. Rick made the sale very easy, he answered all my questions and took the time to explain the details of the product. I use it with salt, but it can also be used with potasium. Highly recommend product and service.
