I wanted to like these guys. I really did. My contractor recommended I go to these guys to get the doors for our complete remodel of our house. When I visited their shop there was always a line of people at the counter and the guys seemed easy-going and knowledgeable. I particularly liked that there was no hard sell with them. They had only a very tiny showroom, which was a bit disappointing. But they freely gave you catalogs to leaf through and offered seemingly knowledgeable and impartial advice if you asked for it. That's where the fun ended. When I finally did go in to order the doors I pointed out which interior doors I wanted from the catalog they gave me. I also ordered a very expensive front door, despite the fact that it would barely arrive in time to complete our remodel on time. (The salesman was aware of our time constraint.) I then asked for an exterior garage door with a window and for matching bi-fold closet doors and louvered bi-fold laundry closet doors. My contractor was going to contact them shortly with measurements for all the doors. I was a bit concerned when the salesman didn't point out to me exactly which matching doors he would recommend for the laundry and exterior door, but I let it go because I trusted him and he seemed pressed for time. I later called back to say that after talking to my contractor we had decided to switch to sliding closet doors rather than bi-fold, and he told me that was no problem. A day later the salesman had gotten the measurements from my contractor and called me back with a quote for the whole project. After hearing the price, I said "That price sounds fine." He said "OK, Thanks," and ended the call. I figure that since he's in touch with my contractor he will be sending the invoice to him. Two weeks later, my contractor is wondering why the doors haven't arrived yet. He calls Lou's to find out that they have never been ordered!!! The salesman was waiting for me to call back with a credit card number! He never told me this. If he had asked for a credit card number when he called with the quote I would have given it to him on the spot. Time was of the essence. Despite the fact that he knew we were pressed for time, and that this was a $7000 order (with the front door), he never followed up in that two week period with either myself or my contractor! Now it's waaay too late to order the front door. So I nix that. We say we just need the interior doors, and we need them now. They arrive about a week later. The exterior garage door doesn't have room for deadbolt due to the narrowness of the door and the presence of the window. It would have been nice if this hang-up had been pointed out to me once the salesman had the measurements. But that's a minor quibble. The bigger problem is that the closet doors are bi-fold, not sliding, and the louvered laundry doors don't remotely match the style of the other doors. When we call back to point out these doors are not what we ordered, the salesman is in a snit about our compliant claiming we never made any such changes or requests. (Had he ever provided us with a detailed invoice he might have had a point that we failed to check the final order. But he had never sent any such invoice to either me or the contractor and we had both been thinking the other person had gotten it.) So the salesman grudgingly promises to expedite replacements. The replacements come in about a week, no faster than normal. And then he calls my contractor to say the truck has just left with the replacements (they are about 5 minutes drive from the job site), the truck arrives 3 hours later while my contractor is left twiddling his thumbs. Passive-aggressive nonsense. Unprofessional, disorganized and untrustworthy. And when I shopped for a front door that could be gotten quickly at other full service door stores with large showrooms and attentive sales people I come to find that their prices aren't significantly better than the competition. Very frustrating. My contractor will never use them again. Use at your own risk and make sure you document everything.
Description of Work: We used Lou's to supply all the interior doors for our home remodel, and one exterior door.

Referred us to an excellent and affordable contractor to install the door.
Description of Work: Recommended and sold us the best kind of door to replace the damaged "man door" of a detached garage.

This place was very fast. Once I order my door, it was being installed within 4 days. I was very pleased with the work and the price involved with this service. The worker did show up on time to the appointment as well. I would use them again.
Description of Work: I had ordered a door for the entryway that goes from my house into the garage. It did come with hinges and I also ordered a door knob and lock. They delivered and installed the door for me. They also removed the old door and stored it in my garage.

I think the price for this company's service was very good. It was a sub-contractor that did the installation. They delivered the front door to my home, and the sub-contractor came to install it. The sub-contractor's work was very good.
Description of Work: They put in a new oak front door with two glass side panels.
