He was the reason I got on Angie's list because I needed to find a new landscaper. He did the worse job. He was a recommendation from the neighbors down the street. But when they came here they did everything wrong. Our backyard sloped and they didn't put a drain so every time it rained it flooded. And after contacting them they would not get back to me. He had also re piped our gas piped but the used the wrong pipe and it rusted and the gas leaked. Our biggest thing is we wanted to put flagstone on the concrete and now we cannot do that because they put the concrete on there two high. Now, if we want to do what we originally planned we have to re do the whole thing again.
Description of Work: They did hardscaping for our backyard.

The trouble started two weeks after the finished the irrigation. I never received the list of programmed zones Mark said he would email to me. I was having trouble with the front lawn sprinklers not going off as supposedly programmed and had to water them manually by turning them on @ the valve. I was told by Cindy, his office manager that I would get the list emailed to me in a couple of days. I still have yet to receive it. In that same email I also told them I would be calling soon to have the drip lines installed in the front since I was almost done with planting and temps were reaching the 90s that week. I was told by Cindy that Mark would come by on Friday morning, 4/24 to install the lines. I was also told that the zones would be changing when they installed the lines, so he would give me the list then. Friday morning came and no Mark showed up- no call to cancel or notify me he'd be late either. I called later that afternoon and his office manager said he was held up at another job and wouldn't be able to make it. I was then told he would come on Monday and that I would get a confirmation email over the weekend to let me know what time. No email. I followed up with Cindy on Sunday afternoon. No email received until Monday late afternoon and she scheduled him for Tuesday morning (today, 4/28) instead and I told her I would be home @ 8:30am. I worked Monday night, so I rushed home to make sure I was available when they got here for any questions and access to the garage for the sprinkler control box. 8:30am- nobody was here. I got an email at 9:45 saying they were finishing up another job and would be heading over soon. 10:30am I get a call from Cindy saying that she wanted to let me know that it would cost extra for them to install the drip lines and emitters because it wasn't included in the original contract! Why are they telling me this just now?!?! When I looked @ the contract it states "install drip system in all planting beds". I was under the impression that "drip system" included the drip line and emitters and was even told by Mark that he would come back to install the lines when I was done planting. I explained this and was told that this wasn't included because the cost would be dependent on the number of emitters needed for the number of plants planted. I was extremely frustrated because throughout our whole communication with both Mark and Cindy, there was no indication that there was an extra cost involved. Exasperated, I asked if they could just come and install just the drip line itself since there was no irrigation installed in one whole section of the front yard and we would install the emitters ourselves. I also asked them for the zone list, since we were also told this would change once the drip line was installed. I was told installing the drip line would still be an extra cost for labor to install the tubing. I said, "Fine, just let me know how much." 1:21pm- still no call back.
Description of Work: We needed help with landscaping our front and back yards. We were planning on doing the planting ourselves but needed somebody to clear out the overgrown weeds, unwanted bushes and trees, and the ugly mulch around the house. When selecting our contractor we made sure they all knew we were on a budget. We told Mark, the owner, our budget was $3000 max and he said he'd be able to clean out the yards, repair/install irrigation, and buy some plants with that budget. We decided to go with him, as he seemed to have lots of ideas to work around our budget and was able to give us some green tips, such as planting with natives and rain harvesting. We had our front and back yard cleaned out of weeds, mulch and had several bushes and trees taken out. Mark's crew worked very efficiently and finished this part of the job in about half a day, even though we were told it would probably take two days. Some of the lava rock in the back yard was not hauled away, but overall, they did a decent job and left our yards clean after the job was done. We did, however, end up paying an extra $440 to dispose of material the city couldn't haul away on trash day. Because of the extra cost, we opted to just go with the irrigation and buy the plants and plant them ourselves. Part 2 of the project was the irrigation. We asked Mark to repair our existing sprinkler system and to install drip lines in the planting beds. During the first part of the project Mark discovered that the existing sprinklers were in bad shape, but we were quoted a very reasonable price for the irrigation. There was a miscommunication when the contract was sent, which showed a much higher price than originally agreed upon. The problem was resolved and the original price was honored. During the day of the job they found that our existing sprinklers were in even worse condition, which extended the job to two days instead of just one. We were not charged any additional costs. They set up all the sprinklers for the lawns, relocated the valves and set up the pipes for the drip system in the planting beds except for the front yard. They set up a new control box for the irrigation and only programmed the sprinklers for the lawns, since the planting beds were still empty. When I asked for a list of all the programmed zones, I was told it would be emailed to me. I paid Mark for the total cost of part 2. Mark said to just call him when the plants were in and he would install the drip tubing in the beds.

Mark is the owner and he comes out frequently to check to make sure that the workers are doing everything correctly and that we are satisfied with everything. They offer us good suggestions on what we should do to our lawn. They are also good about coming out to do other things such as replacing a broken sprinkler. We pay them weekly.
Description of Work: We have a service contract with them to come out every week to trim and weed the bushes, mow the lawn and cut back the trees. They also cleaned up after they were finished.
