Ken was very responsive to our phone calls and very pleasant when he provided the estimate. We had to postpone the schedule a bit and he was very accommodating of this. We had to be out of the house for 4 days while the work was being done, and all the furniture had to be removed from the rooms (of course). When we returned, the floors looked beautiful from eye level, although there were some very light spots on the floor, but he had told us he would be sanding out some gouges and that the color would come up to match the rest of the floors in a while, so that was fine. Upon further inspection, however, we discovered a lot of sand grit, dirt, and even hair that had been varnished over (big sandpaper grit, like you would snag your stockings on it). The floors that were to be refinished had not been cleaned before the varnish was applied, and there were splashes of varnish on several walls (which he offered to fix, if we had the paint to paint over them). The varnish was very thin and the surface of the floors was quite rough because of it. We were very disappointed. So we called Ken and he came out the next day and offered to re-do the job (it was necessary!) so we had to be out of the house again for another three days. We told him the problems and he started right away to work on the sanding, and we specified we wanted a much higher quality, thicker finish on the floors. He and his brother re-did the floors, and they are much MUCH better now. There were a few places that were still problematic, puddles of varnish that had not been smoothed out, and we found spots of dried varnish on our porch table and bricks, which was very disappointing. Ken came out a third time to re-sand the puddled varnish, and I asked him to leave us some of the varnish so I could fix other spots myself, and he did so. He's a very nice man, and was pleasant to deal with, but with all the issues we had with the quality of work, I can't say I would rehire him.

Their price is not the lowest among the 3 bids, but very close of the lowest. Initially Ken agree to lower the price a little (to get closer to the lowest bid) if he can start the next day. I agree. However a few hours later Ken called and said he cannot do the lower price since the baseboard cost is more than he tought. Since i am eager to get the project going, i agree. A little hiccup on the pricing negociation but the end results is beautiful. I'm very impressed by finished results. A little messy during the process, but they did try to clean up. Since i've not move in yet, it;s not a big deal for me.

I had a little trouble understanding him, but he was very patient with me on the phone. Ken came out in-person for the estimate. He was prompt and very thorough with his walk-through and estimate. I hired him over 3 others because his price was the lowest, his attitude was the most professional, the estimate the most detailed, and he was very accommodating of my limited time table. His team of three worked over three days to sand, repair holes/cracks, and apply 3 coats of finish. The finish was smooth and clear, there were no scratches or dings in adjacent floors and floor moulding, and no residual dust at all. I already know that I will hire him again when the adjacent unit is empty.

It went very well. The team was punctual each day that they came to work. They moved heavy pieces of furniture out of the way, and back in place after completion, for no extra charge. They also replaced four pieces of wood which were water stained at no additional charge. They paid a lot of attention to details. The job was completed right on schedule. We are very happy with the results.

There was absolutely no dust! He has some dust-proof equipment to keep it to a minimum. He did all the floors within about 3 days. He even came back to replace all of the furniture after 3 coats of polyurethane. He was a very courteous and very polite gentleman! He did a wonderful job. They're beautiful!

The job was completed in 3 days for about 1000 sqft of space. One tip for those who have the older sliding closet doors with the tracks on the floor, you can install a strip of plain 2.5" molding vertically up the wall from between the baseboards on the outside and inside of the closet. We didn't think of this until the job was already done. Otherwise, I'm sure Ken would not mind putting it in for us.

It went wonderfully. We were under urgent time pressure to complete the job, and after calling on a Tuesday, Ken came by that evening for an estimate, and squeezed us into his schedule on the following Saturday and Sunday. Our floors were ready for return of the furniture by Monday evening! The crew arrived early every day, and completed the job before the estimated time. We are pleased with the entire process. At the last moment, we realized we had forgotten to ask Ken to haul away our old, dead carpeting. He did so, at only a moment's notice, for a small additional charge, saving us a huge hassle dealing with the issue.

Ken's Hardwood did a fantastic job for a very reasonable price. They offered helpful advice before the job. The previously mismatched finishes on the old and new floors were matched very well. Workmanship was excellent, with great attention to detail. For example, I had noticed a protruding screw in a closet threshold and I was unable to tighten it. I didn't mention this because I thought it was small and outside the scope of the job. However, Ken's crew noticed it and fixed it without even being asked. Everything was carefully masked when the finishes were applied, and the crew did not leave a mess behind. In short, we're thrilled with the experience and end result!

Ken is the owner of this company and he is very nice. There were three people doing the work and they did a very good job. It took them two days because the floor needed a second coat. I thought they were very well priced for this service.
