I had a referral to H&J through someone at work. I met with Sam on a Sunday at my house to go through what I would like to upgrade. He came up with ideas how to upgrade my house to get the look and feel that I was trying to accomplish. He came back with a structural engineer 2 days later to look at the work needed to get done and then provided me with the rendering layout of the house before we started the work. His proposal was quite reasonable and came in cheaper than the 2nd contractor I was interviewing. They started working on my house a week later and it took about 2 1/2 months to complete the work. My experience in working with Sam and his team was very good. Sam was very accommodating and made himself available to meet with me at night or on the weekend since my work schedule is very busy. For the painting, he even went out to get the samples to me so I can look at them and when I chose a bad color, they actually stopped the painting and called me. He then asked his people to go out and got sample paint and painted a few colors on the wall so I could see them after work. The work that Sam and his team did was very good and I am completely happy with their work. I will definitely use H&J and Sam again for my next house. I even recommended Sam to my sister who is thinking about upgrading her house.

My family lived in the house while remodeling. All the workers were pleasant, quiet, efficient, & easy to live around while they worked. Sam was always available by phone and returned calls quickly. He appeared to be at the house when necessary and was considerate to us, as to the workers' hours--never before 8-8:30 am. It was a long summer with strangers coming & going; but safety was never an issue. We left a key outside for the workers and no one abused the privilege. I liked to leave one of the dogs outside during the day while the work was being performed; Sam hung out with Sophie while he had lunch. Also, one time Sophie got out of the back yard when I was not home. Sam called to tell me she was out and returned her to the garage. Peace of mind. Refinishing the floors was pretty intense. The dust was plentiful; plastic was hung to prevent it from blowing into our livable space. I also stayed in a hotel for the last night the top coating was applied, due to the horrible smell of chemicals. All in all, the remodel was not the bad experience that I hear from people who used other contractors. In fact, it was a no brainer. We will definitely use H & J again, as plans for a new roof and outside house repairs have been discussed.

We decided to remodel our master bath after several years of talking and planning. We came up with the design and interviewed a number of contractors. We were impressed by Sam's patience to listen to our ideas and answer all of our questions in great detail. His quote was also very competitive so we chose H&J for our remodel. Remodeling a master bathroom was a difficult situation because we still lived and slept in there, and our family of 4 had to share 1 other bathroom. Sam and his team worked very hard to move things along quickly. The construction area was separated from the living area by a plastic barrier. The workers were all friendly and courteous. During the project, Sam maintained great communication, whether it's to get clarification on our design or to explain what needed to be done. Certain aspects of the design required particular attention to detail. Sam and his team did a great job making things work out as we wanted, even if it meant a little more work. When something needed to be changed or redone, it was never a problem. In general, Sam was great at putting the customer first. The bathroom came out beautifully and on budget. The process was smooth considering that it meant living with construction for weeks. Sam was always easy to talk to and attentive to detail, which is very important in a complex project.

. They were very personable. They wanted to make sure that the customer was happy. They were average to answering questions. I will use them in the future.

The two man crew removed the carpeting and damaged wood floor quickly and efficiently in one afternoon. Plastic sheet barriers were placed over doorways adjoining the floors which were being sanded. The sanding process created less dust than I expected. It took a day. The floor installer did a good job; but originally did not repair sections where carpet tacking had been, leaving unsightly dark nail holes which required additional time to correct . We were not charged for this "extra". The finish was applied to the floor and to new base boards. It looks great. We were particularly impressed by Sam's high level of communication with us. He called to tell us if the crew would be late. He discussed the process in detail and was cordial and pleasant to work with.

All work was completed on time in good quality. They were friendly, explained what was being done, gave me options and enough detail to make good decisions.

The best compliment I can pay Sam is that I would love to renovate another home again, and we would do it with H & J!

After meeting Sam I liked the way he worked and had confidence in him. I would not have had the confidence to buy an uninhabitable home if I didn't have Sam lined up working for me. Sam is a hard worker and he is a good dependable person. He does what he says he will do.
