Chris is very professional, honest, and competent. I?ve found that Chris fixes what needs to be fixed but doesn?t try to up-sell. His work is very clean and organized. I would highly recommend Chris.
Description of Work: I originally had Chris do some work for me back in 2005. This is prior to Angie’s list, and I found Chris through an advertisement in a local paper. At that time, I had Chris add a sub panel for a detached garage, add a 220 line for a spa, and add separate line for the air conditioner. At that time, I was VERY impressed with Chris’s work. Fast forward to 2013: I purchased a bank owned house that was in terrible shape. The house had aluminum wiring, a Federal Pacific sub panel, and previous owner induced wiring issues that were just plain dangerous including one area that I nicknamed “the rats nest”. I needed a competent electrician, and I immediately thought of Chris. Chris installed alumconn connectors throughout the house, replaced the subpanel, rewired the kitchen that was being remodeled, wired several can lights, added lighting to the front of the house, added a couple of new branch circuits, and cleaned up the mess the previous owner had made of the wiring. We discovered several issues as work was progressing and those issues were resolved as well.

Chris Gray completed the job in a professional and timely manner. We have had trouble in the past finding a qualified electrician who was reliable and easy to work with, so we are very pleased to have found Gray Electric on Angies's List.
Description of Work: Our job entailed removing two old ceiling fans and wiring two new lights. We also needed new switches and wiring of those switches to the lights, which were not previously connected.Chris completed the job in a professional and timely manner. We found Gray Electric on Angie?s List, and could not have been happier with the two jobs Chris did for us. We would recommend Gray Electric for any home electrical project without hesitation. Chris is very punctual, does a great job in the timeframe he says, and at a fair price. He is very responsive, always returning calls that day or the next day. He is extremely knowledgeable, and we took and asked him to implement many of the great recommendations he gave us. He shows up on time and is done when he says he?ll be finished. The work is outstanding and we?ve had no issues. The only issue we had had was when a part broke on a ceiling fan we bought, and Chris came back and fixed it for us. He is also tidy and left our home cleaner than when he arrived. We highly recommend Chris, and look forward to hiring him for our next electrical job.

Everything went very well. Contacting him was easy, describing what I wanted when he came to do and estimate went very well and he communicated very well with his bid, etc. His suggestions turned out to be great ideas as well. Arrived when he said he would and finished the work in the time he said it would take and everything looks and works great. Couldn't ask for a better electrician. Highly recommended.

This is our second experience with Chris Gray. I have referred him out many times as he is probably one of the best finds here on Angie's List. He does everything with the utmost professionalism. From your appt to the estimate to the work performed, he is responsive, reliable and his work is impeccable. My husband is suffering from a back injury and needed some help outside of Chris' scope of work and there he was, willing to push appliances back in place and hook things up that we had originally committed to doing. I referred him to my employers to do an attic fan installation and they were so happy with his work. Don't expect him to cut corners or try to get around codes. He is professional, knows what he is talking about and will recommend things that make sense and comply with legal codes. He is in the ball park on pricing and even if he were to be on the high side of many quotes, he is well worth any extra in your peace of mind. You will never use another electrician.

Chris showed up on time and was very professional being careful not to make a mess and cleaned up once he was complete. He brought all tools & supplies necessary and answered the few questions I had about his work. He did an excellent job on all installations, we have never had any issues with them working and we are very satisfied and will use Chris again as the need arises.
Description of Work: I had Chris install 3 light fixtures. Two in my office and one in the laundry area. There was no current wiring available which had to run through the walls then switches installed. Chris also installed a flat stove top for us.

No problem with the standard stuff like adding outlets. My house wiring is quite weird, so took a while to sort out what was causing a short. Chris was going to disconnect a whole circuit (disabling some lights) until I suggested a couple more tests to isolate the fault more narrowly. I got what I wanted in the end and I'm happy with the work. He charged me $80/hr. I also wanted to sort out some 240V heating issues. He was able to sort through the wires and get some heaters working, but seemed a little confused by the wiring at a thermostat. Also he's quite pleasant to work with. I plan to have him back, since I'm not done with the wiring issues.

Absolutely wonderful. I couldn't have been happier with the service I received. Chris was prompt, courteous, professional and did a great job. I have a difficult time trusting people to work on my "fixer" home because I have been burned in the past. It is so refreshing to find Gray Electric. I have asked them for a quote to do additional work that needs to be done on my home and would recommend them to anyone.... and I don't say that about just anyone.
Description of Work: Inspected wiring and outlets surrounding the problem area for current. Determined that the outlet box under the kitchen sink had water dripping into it due to the deteriorated tile grout above it. The water was causing some current to the kitchen faucet. changed and moved the outlet box. changed to the properly insulated wiring. Went through the crawl space under the sink / house to check the wiring connection below. Even added some caulking to prevent further water dripping.

It went excellantly. Chris came and we discussed ideas about improving my home security lighting. He had some suggestions also as how to do it more energy efficiently. Then he came back and did the job. a few days later one of the new lights burnt out. I called him and he came back with a new fixture and did not charge me for the fixture. He also did a couple more lights that I decided I needed. He really listened to my concerns and worked with me on the ideas I had plus he added his ideas from his professional point of view and I am very pleased with the results. I felt very comfortable with his approach to the job. I highly recommend Chris Gray for any electrical work needed. He even redid some wiring I had that wasn't up to code.

I am a property owner and the tenant met with him so most of my contact was by phone. He even took back a fixture that was defective for me from the home depot. I really appreciated this since I live almost 2 hours away. He did a very clean job and billed me. I was able to send him a check right away. I am very satisfied with his work.

The shortage in our wiring happened very suddenly. We thought at first is was a tripped fuse, however one of the the lights on the fuse was still working, but three others were out. Our master bath is very dark without the light which made getting ready for work very difficult. We called Gray Electric first thing in the morning and he was able to come by the same afternoon. He was very professional and arrived right on time. He very quickly identified the source of the faulty wiring and fixed it very quickly. We also had him look at two three-way switches which have not worked properly since we moved in. The was able to correct the wiring and even had to make a quick trip to Lowes to replace one of the switches. We will definitely use Gray Electric again for future electrical needs.

He was called for a circuit breaker problem in the kitchen, He replaced the breaker, then reccommended we have a dedecated wiring to the microwave, which he did, we also had him estimate a new electric plu for our above the mantel big screen tv, and then plan to have him put the wiring in each room for ceiling lights and fans. He was just great, prompt, reasonable estimates, and just a nice guy. I would reccommend him to others.
Description of Work: Chris Grey was hired first to fix a problem with our circuit breaker in the kitchen, he only charged us 70.00 dollars , was very prompt, found the problem quickly and gave us a couple of solutions. We liked him so much that we had him come back for other electrical work and repairs and will reccommned him to others.

An electrical outlet in the kitchen kept blowing out and I was concerned it may be a fire hazard. Reviewed all the electrical providers on Angie's List and Chris was the 1st one contacted. Because he was able to come out the next day to check it out, I decided to move forward with his service. As it turns out it was only a low voltage outlet that needed upgrading. He didn't have the right color to match the other outlets so he ran to the hardware store to pick one up. In doing this repair a circuit blew (of course) so Chris checked that out too. The unit I have is an older unit so they are no longer making it so Chris couldn't purchase a new replacement for me. It just so happens he had a similar one in his truck from an upgrade he had just done so he replaced it at no charge. I'll probably have to upgrade my electrical box some time in the near future and I will definitely use Chris. He is prompt, knowledgably, honest, and very fair in his pricing.

We talked with four electricians before selecting Chris, and had an excellent experience. His quote was the lowest, but he was also the most helpful in terms of clearly offering different options that would work within our complex remodeling plans (we're doing a lot of the work ourselves and in stages). He was flexible, communicated with us very clearly, did excellent work and finished the job on time and on budget. We couldn't be more pleased, and will definitely work with him again in the future.

I have used Chris Gray twice for electrical service related work. I wasn't sure exactly how I wanted to get rid of existing lighting and he gave very helpful suggestions. He and his work are very professional. Every day that he worked he left everything clean. He is very patient and if I changed my mind about anything, he worked with me. He even recommended a painter to do the ceiling painting. Who also did a good job.
Description of Work: Globe wall lights removed, can lights put in. In family room, 3 long recessed fluorescent lights with box covers removed, in kitchen 2 sets of same type lights with big box cover removed, recessed areas filled in, patched, can lights put in both rooms & ceiling fan put in family room. Added dimmer switches to all wall switches for new lighting. Set up additional outlets for Sprinkler timer box and moved to a more convenient location. Added motion lights in designated positions outside. Put in on/off switch for attic fan where I could use it. It had been up in the attic.

Response from GRAY ELECTRIC
After reading this report I was confused. After looking at a potential job, I always submit an estimate. It might take a few days, but I always submit one. So I decided to look back at all the estimates I submitted, and found the one that I submitted to this member. The estimate is #98, dated 7/5/06 and I emailed this estimate to the member. At the time I was using Quickbooks emailing service. I'm not sure if the email got lost through this service, or at the members end. In any case, I DID SEND IT. Sincerely,Chris GrayGray Electric
