Perfect job. Amazing work, total professionalism and service. Cost of repair totally fair and acceptable. Very happy with experience.

My grandmother's dining room table, which I inherited, was badly gouged with scissors by one of my children. For many years I just covered it up. When an adult child expressed interest in getting the table one day, I decided to get it refinished. Dennis Dunne was a true professional all the way. He set my expectations, given that the gouges were deep, that he might not be able to make the marks fully go away. But then he performed a miracle - when I went to pick it up, I could not find the "scar"! He did all this quickly, just before Christmas. I am showing off his work to everyone!

Went very well. I was delighted with the result—excellent quality. Owner Dennis came right on time for both pick-up and delivery. Efficient. Need to leave a message and he calls you back, so call when you will be available to take the return call. No email option. Subsequently hired him to refinish a chair and his crew did a great job on that too. Cost shown is just for the desk.

My wife and I were amazed by the results. The finish on each chair is absolutely flawless and is a perfect match to the original and therefore to the table. The final lacquer coatings had the right gloss and in no way obscured the underlying finish. No swirl marks or streaks and a beautifully consistent finish. The chairs looked better than new. Refinishing can be expensive, but it's worth it if you want to restore quality wood furniture to its original condition--or better--and therefore preserve its value. Dennis Dunne is definitely the one you want to see for any refinishing needs. His skill, knowledge, experience, and practiced eye will serve you well.
Description of Work: Mr. Dunne and his staff refinished four 30-year-old Pennsylvania House Queen Anne dining room chairs that were somewhat worn, scratched, and nicked.

Dennis was prompt and able to repair an antique dining table quicker than originally planned. Pick-up and drop-off service added convenience and I would definitely recommend Dunne's Finishing Service.

Working with Dennis was a positive experience from start to finish. He did exactly what he promised to do. Delivered a beautiful table in time for our Thanksgiving celebration.
Description of Work: Dennis refinished our wood kitchen table just before Thanksgiving. He arranged a visit to give me a quote and was able take the table with him when he left. He did a terrific job and the table looks great. He said that he would deliver the table before the holiday and he did! I was very impressed with the service and professionalism. I thought the fee was a bit high, however, in this case I got what I paid for. I am a happy customer and will continue to use this company for refinishing needs.

I have used them twice. I spent $250 the last time I used them. The price may seem high for a chair repair, but you need to see what they did with it. I thought it was quite reasonable. The chair was broken in two places. It was part of a set. So, there was no way that it could have been replaced. It was a tough job, but they did manage it. You cannot tell if the chair was broken. It is probably stronger than it was before. The guy did a marvelous job on putting it back together. I was very pleased with him. He was amazing. I think he has one employee. He does a lot of work for moving companies. He showed me some of the things that he was putting together for the moving company. He was very good. I will use this company again if required.
Description of Work: I used Dunne's Finishing Service, eight months ago. They repaired a rocker, the first time I used them. There was a piece of trim that had come loose and they redid that. The second time, they reassembled a chair that my grandson had managed to destroy.

He was absolutely excellent. His workmanship was extra ordinary. He did a beautiful job. Other people had commented in reviews on him. He's a perfectionist. He did more than I expected him to and did not increase his cost at all, so he came in right within the estimate even though he did more than we talked about. Moreover, his workmanship was just gorgeous. It took him about three or four weeks to fit me in the schedule. As another reviewer had commented, he was a little difficult to reach but that was because he was out working. He did respond really well to emails and that turned out to be a better way to reach him than by telephone. It took a couple of weeks to arrange for him to come out and look at it to do the estimate and then it took a couple of weeks for him to fit me into the schedule once he came out to do the estimate. In terms of price, his was the only estimate I got; I just got an estimate from him based on the reviews, so I don't really have a comparison. I would absolutely use his services again in the future.

He took the table and immediately knew that it was Myrtlewood. Not many people recognize this wood so I was pleased. He showed me where he would have to make repairs and then we discussed the color and finish on the final product. He promised that the table would be completed in two weeks and it was. The end result is a beautifully finished table that I am very happy to have restored to its near original condition.

Dropped off cabinet. Was asked to drop off drawer of another piece of furniture. Dropped of drawer and paid half the fee as a deposit. Within a week cabinet was completed. It took a week to pick it up due to my schedule and his schedule at the warehouse. He only accepts checks and cash.

The built-in looks absolutely fabulous. Dennis did a masterful job of repairing the damage. The hutch now looks better than it ever did . Now, you can't even tell that there was any damage at all. Dennis paid particular attention to all the details including the weather. (It was raining on the day that he came so he came back the next day to put the final finish on when there was better weather.) He brought all the supplies with him and mixed up the correct color to match the built-in. Dennis also gave me tips and guidance on how to repair some additional damage on woodwork throughout the house (This is an old house with lots of wood so there are many many places on the wood to be touched up). The final bill matched the lower amount of the original estimate (he had estimated either $500 or $800 depending on whether he needed to strip off the old finish). It was a joy to watch Dennis work: you can tell he is a master at this. I would trust him with my any precious woodwork and will definitely call him again in the future. Highly recommended.
Description of Work: Dennis repaired a mahogany built-in hutch in my 1928 home. The built-in had been damaged by a previous worker who had done an over-ambitious repair on the piece (which actually ended up damaging it.)

It went very well. Mr. Dunne explained clearly and succinctly what the issues were with this chair, what the options were, and what it would cost. Although he warned me that the repair would not be invisible (it involved a flaw in the original wooden leg) the chair in fact looks better now than when it was new.

These guys did a gorgeous job of repairing an heirloom sideboard which suffered a severely cracked leg (professional interstate move gone wrong). Two fellows picked it up, treated it with a lot more respect than my movers did! I explained that I was moving in a couple of weeks, although they did not request my upcoming address, nor did I provide it (my bad). Turnaround time was great. Tiny snafu: when they called to arrange the delivery, they neglected to verify the delivery address (aack, moved again!), so they went to my old address in the same town and expressed their displeasure with the situation. I thought they could have been a bit nicer about it, but I gave them a $20 to cover the extra gas and a bit of extra time. Will now have them fix an heirloom dining table that has developed wobbly legs over the last 90 years, and, hopefully, about 15 items that were damaged in the more recent move (really lousy moving company!). Highest recommendation.

Quite well, Dennis is very detailed and does wonderful work. He came out, inspected, gave me an estimate and was able to take the desk right then! He had it all finished within 2 weeks with prompt delivery. It was beautiful! He said he would even be on the lookout for some missing parts that he might find for me.

Dennis was very responsive. He answered my call, and set up a time to review the damage, and give me an estimate. He was able to take the piece to his shop the same day. The piece was ready a week later. Dennis and his helper delivered the hutch, and repositioned it on my desk. It looks as good as new. Without the hutch, the desk would have been a throw-away. I was thrilled that Dennis could repair it, as it was very damaged. Dennis was very prompt and personable. He may not have been the cheapest, but the workmanship and service were excellent.
Description of Work: Dennis repaired a broken hutch, part of my oak desk set. The hutch had fallen off during a move. The back of the hutch was virtually completely detached, and the side had fallen off. There was at least one split in the veneer. Special brackets held the side on, so it couldn't simply be nailed back together.
