His rate is reasonable and although he went over the estimated time by double (the door had a more complex design than he had realized), he offered to split the difference on the extra time. I gladly paid him his regular rate though. He is very knowledgeable and honest. I would use him again!
Description of Work: I had been waiting on another handyman who was not reliable. Dan came within a day's notice and installed a badly needed storm/screen door so we could get some air into the living area of the house.

Description of Work: He repaired a door jam, replaced a door knob and reinforced some latice in the driveway. He made suggestions on how to fix/repair the projects, which saved me quite a bit of money. He was dependable and professional.

I called Dan after calling others who could not come until the next day or later on in the week. Dan said he would call me after finishing another job and get directions to my home and come over. My a.c. unit broke down the Friday before on one of the hottest days/weekends. I looked on the internet to see what unit I could buy that would fit my sliding glass window. I purchased one on Sunday and after taking Monday off work started calling handymen to see who could come over that day. I live in a mobile home and it was unbearably hot with no a.c. Dan was the only one who could come that day - and I was so happy as my dog and I had spent the week-end at a motel due to the mobile being so hot. After seeing the unit and measuring the window, he didn't think it would fit. I told him I had checked the size on the internet and measured the window to make sure it would fit. Turns out the measurements on the box where not the actual measurements of the unit once Dan took it out and measured. He told me that it would fit my window. I had also purchased a bracket - not thinking we could use the one that already was there for the previous unit. It was a little off centered, but Dan said he could make adjustments to make sure it would work and be supportive. He told me up front what his hourly rate was before he came over estimating around $160 - for about an hour and a half. I agreed. I felt he did a good job - going outside and coming in several times to check the unit and make sure the unit was secure and making adjustments until it was. After securing the unit, I asked if I could go with him to Home Depot to purchase plexiglass to fit into the opening space above the unit. That wayy I could just charge it plus go to the atm and get cash to pay him. He agreed. When we found the plexiglas he took the time to explain the differences in the thicknesses and prices saying that the costlier one was studier which would make a stronger deterrent if someone attempted to come in moreso than the cheaper one. Because my window is higher up from the ground we both decided that the cheaper one would work, especially since no one had attempted this with the old one. He felt the cheaper one would do. So he saved me money on this and also by using the old bracket. I was able to take back the new one and get my money back. Even after he finished he wanted to make sure that the window was secure and that no one would be able to slide it open. So he told me he needed to do this "one more thing to make sure I was safe." He went out to his truck and got this thick block of wood measured the space and went out about two more times, to cut it and make sure it fit just right into that space. I appreciated that he was concerned and thought about that. When I asked him how much I owed him he said $90.00 - I felt he was there a bit longer plus I appreciated him coming out that day, being upfront and honest, and doing such a good job - I ended up just rounding it up and giving him $100 - I felt he was honest and his work was good. I would call him again - in fact I asked him if he installed pergo - he was up front and told me he didn't but could give me references. He did this giving me business cards for two - he explained the difference between the two - one being more expensive but doing a great job the other less expensive and doing a good job - but material of lesser quality than the other - I appreciated this info. and thanked him. I would definitely recommend him and was very satisfied with the work he did for me.

Comments: Dan returned my call promptly, was polite over the phone. He showed up the next day on time. He gave a detailed explanation of work he is going to perform, he did a little bit of triage first and then gave approximate estimate of time and materials. At the end it ended to be an accurate estimate. I didn't have to pay him more than what he estimated at the beginning. I have used him twice and the experience was uniform both the times. Overall, I was satisfied with the job performed and I would use him again.

He showed up promptly and creatively solved the problem of preventing draft into the house around a large dryer hose.
Description of Work: My furnace company sent Dan Goode, handyman, to fill in siding in basement following furnace replacement. His work looked neat despite difficulty reaching all the areas and he cleaned up well after. I asked him if I could hire him to fill in a gap left from a hose coming into the basement from my dryer. He devised a metal fitting and covered it with tape. The cost was $40 instead of $30 due to materials.
