Kevin arrived promptly, walked through the projects with me, made some excellent suggestions on design and provided an email estimate with photos. I found a design on another home that I particularly liked, which I sent to Kevin. He promptly gave me a revised estimate for that design. On the day scheduled, a crew showed up with all the necessary materials and the fences were completed and the new gate posts installed that day. Three days later the drive way gates were installed. I asked for some modifications to the installation after it was completed, which the contractor accomplished at no change in the price.

DO call Cuevas for an estimate. DO listen to their professional recommendations. DO ask for an Angie's List 5% discount.

Two men very skillfully removed the old and installed the new--including an innovative solution to a large heritage walnut tree growing in the way. When done, they swept and hosed down the surrounding area. Price was right; men were pleasant.

About as good as it gets. Original fence and gate were in really bad shape. Bushes were basically keeping the fence from falling over. A detailed estimate was prepared on-the-spot and was very competitive. No extra charge for clearing the bushes. Workers were here when scheduled. They were polite and seemed very experienced and competent. Work and materials were top notch and the site was left clean.

It went very well. When giving the estimate, he arrived promptly (no 4-hour window) at the scheduled time and he gave me the estimate before leaving. On the appointed day, the crew arrived around 8:30 a.m. and completed the job by 6:00pm. Their work was superior to the previous fence and they made improvements in design that I hadn't thought about. The office staff was efficient in handling the project. I was very pleased.

The job went very well. We interviewed three contractors and they provided us a estimate in the same day, not two weeks or more as the others took. They were prompt and very respectful of our maple trees growing near and over the balcony. They completed the job ahead of schedule. Cuevas also went over in great detail how to maintain our new balcony. Staff worked very quietly and fast ( the outside temperature was 105 degrees). What really impressed us was how well they cleaned up. I would recommend them.

The workers were extremely friendly, professional and on time. They helped to come up with some creative solutions to some awkward areas. The woman on the phone in the office was also very friendly and helpful.

Couldn't get their appointment for a week. But after a week, they showed up on time. It is frustrating when you can't get the appointment for a week when you have a fence which was falling. The guy said, they don't have enough work to come all over from SanJose to Fremont just for small repair of a section of falling fence. And when we said, we may dispose the property after 2 years, he suggested to replace the fence, and we thought that it is good to get it fixed rather than do the small repair and so we opted for replacing part of the fence. And we thought the price was reasonable. Then they came two days later as scheduled and completed the work on same day. They did an awesome job and perfect qaulity. I am glad that I called this company. Very happy!! I would recommend this provider for installing new fences or replacing older ones but not for a repair of the fence.

They were good. I don't have anything negative to say. They were okay.

Overall the communication was very good, and workers were very professional. The final results were very nice. The guys they sent to build our gate can basically make anything out of wood. Because the wood they used for the gate is new wood, they didn't want to stain it right away. I will be asking them back to stain in a a couple of weeks because I was impressed with their work. The contact person (Fidel, I believe) came out to give me an estimate, and out of all the bids we got, he was the only one that was concerned with fitting our cars down the driveway after the gate was installed. He's got the big picture in mind, and I appreciated that too. This job worked out very well for us and looks very nice.

Overall Cuevas Lumber did a good job. They were very helpful in suggesting different options to address our needs, and we are happy with the work they did. They were a little difficult to get in touch with initially, but after speaking with them the first time, they were responsive.

Before moving into a new house on a sloped property, we realized we would need a fence around the flat back lawn to keep toddler twins out of danger. We contacted Cuevas because unlike most fence companies, they also have metal fencing options. Remarkably, the metal option was only 20% more than the wood option, so we chose metal for its durability and because the thinner rails obstruct the view less. (A 3-foot-high fence *does* obstruct the view when lounging in deck chairs...) Kevin quoted 4 weeks for delivery and installation, but amazingly it was only 2 weeks. They did a really great job of aligning the four gates to preexisting paths out of the lawn, which is a little tricky for a fence that comes in 8-foot sections. The workers broke a sprinkler pipe while digging post holes, but it was fixed before anyone else knew there was a problem.

It took Cuevas about a week to call back to schedule a date to view our job. Kevin came out and looked at all the projects we needed. He spent at least 1.5 hours here, as he, myself, and my husband looked at all our options, especially in regards to the gate/fence issue with the tree. He recommended pushing the entire fence back almost two feet to the next fence post and install two new gates (one for us and one for our neighbor) so that the tree would not continue to be an issue in the future. We asked if he could extend the existing wooden picket fence along the property line (and right next to the tree), which he said they would find a way to work around the tree. He also took detailed notes about the two 4ft gates we needed. After he had already given us an estimate of $1230 for all that work (which I thought was unbelievably good), we asked him to look at our existing gate and he told us that instead of just re-screwing it into the house, the whole gate actually needed to be re-secured to the house with a new 2x4 post. The additional price to the estimate for all that new work - $120. I couldn't believe how inexpensive it was. A week later Kevin and his crew came out to do the work. He said it would take a day to complete the work and that's exactly how long it took. They cleaned up everything when they left and made sure all the new gate hardware worked great. I'm so happy with my new gates, my new fence - as is my neighbor. We love that the tree is still intact and providing the great shade it always has, but will no longer crush our fences!

It was really nice work. They were on time and the price was competitive. It was good service.

Half the fence was the neighbors, but I paid about $2500 for my half of the fence. They almost di a great job, because while digging the holes, one of them went through the sewer line and they poured concrete in it. Their workers should have known that they had gone through a concrete pipe and should have said something and it would have been much better had they not put the concrete in the hole. I am not completely certain that they buried the post tree sheet like they should have for one of the retaining walls. The ground is really hard and it was a hot day, so they did not like to dig the holes to deep. I think because I can measure the amount above ground length and they sawed a couple of inches off the top. The poles were 10 feet to begin with, so that meant that they did not take it under as far as they should have. I did not have the confidence that they would a good job. The work they did above ground was okay, but with the big mistake they made subtracts from that because that was a really big thing making that mistake.

This is the first company I am dealing with that did everything as promised and more. I have sent them an email requesting a quote for my fence on a Saturday noon. Kevin called me a few hours later and we arranged for a meeting the following week. He came on time, gave me the estimate on site and we agreed on the project. The team came when promised ( they said between 8 and 9, came 8:05). The promised to do the work in one and a half days but finished by the end of the first day. The fence looks nice and it is solid. Communication with Kevin is great, he answered every email I sent him before and after the job. I would highly recommend this company to everyone.

Overall went well. Good price. Don't forget to ask for a senior discount if it applies.

1. Performed warranty work without question or charge, correcting the problem. 2. Replaced trim and sanded smooth the rest of the garage door posts as requested.

The have a 6 post minimum so I had to pay a setup charge but they did a good job. Would have preferred a phone call ahead of time, fortunately my neighbor was home and let them into her backyard to work on the shared fence.

Needed to replace a split rail style fence around the front yard on a corner lot. Was punctual for estimate appointment in December 2009. Helped provide some suggestions for replacement fence style during estimate meeting. Decided on a picket style fence. The removal of the old fence was done neatly and quickly. The installation of the new fence (approximately 90 feet) was completed within 2 days. All debris cleaned at the end of the day. The new fence looks beautiful and have received positive comments from neighbors. We are very happy with the work and would recommend based on our experience.

Experience was professional and excellent from the first phone call to set up estimate. Fidel Cuevas (family business!) came out to do our estimate and answered all our questions easily and had good suggestions for our specific needs. He took time to write up a complete diagram of the work to be done. Cuevas was the only fence company of those we had out to estimate, to have diagram space to show fence views from both neighbor's yards. In our case that was very useful, because we were having some additional work done on a non-related gate and our individual pricing could be spelled out along with the particular work to be done. Our job was scheduled in the time frame we wanted, and we had contingency plans in place because of possible bad weather. The two-person team showed up on time and Fidel returned to go over the job with them. The guys treated our yard with care and did a wonderful job constructing the fence to our specifications. Clean up went smoothly as well. We give an overall thumbs up for this project and would definitely use Cuevas again.

Everything went perfectly. Both Kevin and Fidel returned my calls when I had a moment of panic mid-construction. Fidel returned to the site to double check the progress when I felt I wasn't communicating well with the construction crew. They had estimated 1 1/2 days labor to complete the work. It actually took three days, but I still only paid the original quoted anount.

I first contacted Cuevas to get an estimate for two fences that needed repair. Fidel was prompt and professional at the appt, and wrote up the estimate in about 40 minutes. We did not end up hiring them for the first fence due to the fact that Cuevas uses staples (not nails) in their fences and they only have a short warranty (2 years, I think). For the second fence, we ended up needing a second estimate from Cuevas due to some new issues that arose with the fence (things that were not an issue initially). Fidel was really responsive and very professional in helping me with my questions. He called me a couple times just to confirm that he was understanding me correctly and I know that he put in a lot of time getting me a new estimate. I also like that his office manager called a couple weeks later to see if we had gotten the fence done or if I had anymore questions. In the end, we went with a different company because of the warranty issue and because we had used the other company before.

Everything about them was prompt and professional, starting with the estimate. I though the price was very fair, and the end results look better than I expected. The double-gate is quite heavy, but seems sturdy and well built. One complaint: They did leave a lot of sawdust on the driveway - and since it is the interlocking-paver-block style of driveway, I spent quite a bit of time to sweep/vacuum the sawdust out of all the nooks and crannies.

As mentioned above, the estimating process went very well. We ended up using a different vendor based on previous experience.
