John was the cabinet maker provided to us through our general contractor, Chris Goodrich of Tri Star Builders. John is a very nice person and easy to work with. He provided quality workmanship and responsive customer service. I'm very picky and detailed oriented and he met my, very high expectations. I requested some changes to the typical Shaker-style and he easily went along with and provided all the changes. Cabinets and closet doors are perfect: - built well and everything fit, as designed - perfect color - great installation
Description of Work: Build, paint, install complete suite of kitchen cabinets. Build, install new closet doors for existing built-in bedroom closets (x 14 doors).

I started my research for a full kitchen remodel and two bathroom remodel back in 2011. My research started looking at pre-built cabinets at Home Depot, Lowes Costco, and even semi custom cabinets (like Merillat, Kraftmaid). After reviewing them all, I did not like any of the wood types, drawer boxes, door styles, colors and as it all felt too limiting and run of the mill standard. So, I started looking at custom cabinets, asked friends, relatives, my dentist and read Yelp reviews at Woodenbridge Demetra cabinetry, and CMT Woodcraft. I visited each, asked questions, saw some samples, received some quotes. I finally whittled it down to John at CMT Woodcraft. I felt comfortable discussing my ideas, I hadn't yet nailed what I wanted, I started with Cherry cabinets but my heart was set on Mahogany, Phillipean or African and after some lengthy discussions, some on the phone, some via email, I knew I wanted Mahogany wood and John to design them. I also wanted mitered door raised panel fronts and a special crown molding, John took on the challenge and designed it. He even built me a sample door and drawer front and many stain swatches after listening to my ranting and many brainstorms. I started working with Jon Longabaugh at CMT Woodcraft in Dec 2011, he was very patient, and over the course of 3 months, we collaborated on the cabinet design, drawer placement, 3 cutting boards, hinges, # of shelves, trash compartment, Lazy Susan, bathroom vanities, building a custom two door glass cabinet for bathrooms, colors and wood type. John through all this time took the time to answer my questions even when he was busy working on other jobs, he would make suggestions, highlighted any concerns to think about and we finally got down to the final design. John then had me go buy the appliances (Ventahood, Dishwasher, GE Induction Slide-In Range, Sinks) that I wanted and provide him the model #, so he could ensure they would fit with the custom cabinet layout he would design and build with real plywood (no particle board or melamine) and African mahogany fronts and sides. I wanted tongue and grove joints on my drawer boxes for extra strength and he accommodated, I wanted a 1.25and quot; recessed space under the cabinets to cover under cabinet fluorescent lights and he accommodated, every time I wanted to make a change, he was patient, listened and he accommodated, great collaborative effort. He built the cabinets in about 3 weeks. He came out recently and tore out the old cabinets with his helper Arif, tile countertop and partial floor and then came to install all the cabinets in June 2012 (kitchen lowers, uppers, bathroom lowers) all in one day. He will return to install the crown molding, bathroom glass door cabinets and wooden toe kicks once the tile person (Lester Bialy @ Almaden Tile and Marble) is finished. Once the Cambria Quartz countertops are installed (by United Marble and Granite, working with Laurenz Valera), John will return to put on the handles, he mentioned it is safer to do it after the countertop install to avoid damage. It was an absolute joy working with John over this 6 month period, I will post some pictures of the cabinets, once the countertop is installed so all the Yelpers can see his great work. I wholeheartedly recommend CMT Woodcraft for all your custom cabinet needs, you will get a finish that will beat any cabinet (be it Merillat, Kraftmaid, Thomasville, etc), the quality of the hinges, dimensions accurate to 1/16and quot; of an inch. His pricing is competitive vs. the other custom cabinet shops. Above all you are also keeping a custom carpenter small business person employed who has honed his craft over the years. Five stars all round, highly recommend John for all your cabinet or custom carpentry needs. Thank you John!

Installed cabinets made in China 16 months ago. The finish came off some of the high traffic areas of the cabinet doors and frame under the sink area. We replaced the doors and had CMT touchup the frame.
Description of Work: Cabinet frame touch up under the sink area. Excellent stain color matching and finish.

It all went well, as explained above.
Description of Work: I contracted with John Sullivan Construction for a bathroom remodel. CMT Woodcraft made the vanity for the bathroom. The owner, John Longabaugh, of CMT Woodcraft, came out to my home to take measurements and discuss what I wanted. He gave me a booklet with various styles to choose from, and we communicated by phone and e-mail to finalize the plans. He also let me visit his shop to look at examples, as I had a little trouble visualizing what the finished product would look like. I chose a traditional style in a paint grade white enamel with some upgrades. He submitted a couple of drawings of the vanity & medicine cabinet, and we made some modifications. The base price was $1620, plus $207 in upgrades, for a total price of $1827, which was actually included in the contractor's price, as I didn't contract with John directly. On 11-7-11, John came out and installed the vanity. I was very pleased. It looks perfect, and my impression of John Longabaugh is that he is a perfectionist with an artistic craftsman's sensibility. He also built a medicine cabinet to match the vanity, which has a beveled mirror and crown moulding, which looks very nice. I supplied my own pulls and nobs, which cost me around $100. When all of the plumbing is complete, John will install a roll-out in the door portion of the cabinet. Overall, I am very pleased and I am considering having him restore my kitchen cabinets in the future.
