Description of Work: My mom's house is 63 years old, and we had Clausen Electric update the outlets throughout the house (either with grounded outlets or GFI outlets), installed two new grounded outlets in the kitchen (on separate circuit for the refrigerator), installed a new grounded outlet in the bathroom, installed two new light fixtures in the kitchen with dimmer, installed new light fixture in the bathroom on dimmer and installed sconces in the bathroom on separate dimmer. Once the estimate was accepted, the electricians (Jeff and Andrew) started in just a few days. They were always on time, worked hard, were thoughtful and careful with the job at hand, were very professional and respectful to my 90-year old mom, and they were great problem solvers. Installing the new grounded outlets in the kitchen on a separate circuit ended up being a huge and challenging job because of unusable crawl-space in the "attic." The entire job took two full days, and the guys did a great job of cleaning up afterwards. We are very pleased with the electricians and the work they performed and would hire Clausen again in a heartbeat.

I used Clausen Electric. They were here back in January. They replaced a wood panel that was holding our breaker box so they replaced that as well. The extension mark up on there equipment, so basically what happened was they charged me, the replacement parts, they charged me, they have an hourly rate of a hundred and twenty per hour. They charged me for actually going out and getting replacements, I guess they weren't down to local hardware store and I priced the same parts at the local hardware store myself. So they charged me $377 for those parts, which actually, if I would have went to the store would have cost me about $150. They didn't give me an estimate in the beginning.
Description of Work: They replaced the panel and the breakers.

Description of Work: Overall I was pleased with the service and the cleanliness of the staff. Even though I have utilized Clausen Electric a number of times, I always have to get additional bids to keep them honest.

They were very good. My only recommendation would be to ask for an estimate before beginning work. They were on time and conscientious about their efforts. The owner is very responsible and consumer concerned.
Description of Work: They have done work for us several times. They have replaced breakers in the panel, re-wired an electrical pole/light outside, replaced wall switches

Want to feel like you're not important? want poor communication across both phone and email? want to get stood up at the last minute? Well then, fellow Yelper, Clausen Electrician is your place! Such a bad experience all round. I initially found Clausen because of their listing on a home automation website and wanted to book their smarthome guru, Ron - who now only exists in legend. I was told that he was booked for the next 3 months and the nearest opening was in November. OK - great, he's the only game in town, so I'll wait for him. November it is. So, fast-forward past the three-month wait, and my approaching appointment. I had started a new job a few weeks before Ron was scheduled to come, so I called Clausen 10 days before to reschedule this appointment. Their scheduler (Allison) whom I've exclusively dealt with, pushed me back another three weeks to Ron's next supposed day of availability. No problem. The week before this rescheduled appointment, I called her to confirm our rescheduled appointment, and to ask for an email address to which I could send a project plan to them for preparation. Yep - here's your lip service with the appointment being on the books, and she'll look for the email! The Friday before the Tuesday appointment, I again called Clausen, to see if they've received my email and passed it onto Ron (cue Allison on the phone checking their AOL address while to find it buried, still unread and certainly not forwarded). Then, today, the day before my appointment, I get an email from Clausen canceling my appointment because Ron was booked on a larger job. This is the same large scale job that he's been booked on for months, and they could have easily seen this conflict coming. Even after I re-booked them with at the beginning of the month, they couldn't conceive that there would be a conflict for my next date - nor did they give me a heads-up until the day before, and sent an impersonal email (the first they've ever sent) to brush me off.I responded negatively to this cancellation, as I waited 3-months for their specialist, only to get blown off by email the day before and promised another false availability date in another month. Allison tries to cover her tracks after reading my negative reaction to the initial cancellation, by saying she now moved some things around for a replacement to be available, and am expected to take at full-cost (which were substantial). Reading some of the other reviews, some of the staff is better than others - so I'll not take the second (or third) stringers. No thanks. Find someone else. I hope Ron finds another electrical contractor to work for, as he sounds like a valuable resource trapped in an inept environment.
Description of Work: Sought to consult with Clausen Electric for smarthome automation install, they were listed as the only resource in town who had expertise in this area. No services were performed, read below.

Description of Work: They were with me for three days correcting a long punch list of electrical problems. Chris was wonderful. He figured out what was wrong for several problems that I was not sure were possible to fix. Price was extremely reasonable and they gave me a 15% discount. The coordinated with my roofer to install some attic fans and were always on time, never slowing down the roof repairs. I would hire these people again in a minute.

The estimator came out to our house to go over the work that we were requesting. He said he would have the estimate back to us within a week or so. Two weeks later I called the office and they said it would be coming in the next couple of days. It never came. And it was a huge inconvenience for us because we had our project waiting for the estimates to come in. A month later even though we knew we would NOT use Clausen, I called the office again to talk to the owner and got the estimator who said that was a rare mistake and he would call me back and he did not. This is so bad it is almost comical. If these small companies can't handle additional customer load they should just say so up front, so that I didn't have to waste time on them.
Description of Work: I was just trying to get an estimate.

Amazing. I think I got really lucky, they came and did the work the same day that I called. The only problems was I didnt supervise the plug installed outside and now I have a plug in the middle of the wall of the front of my house. I assumed that they would install it close to ground level.
Description of Work: Fixed dining room dimmer; installed split bolds for aluminum to copper connection; installed outside plug in front of house and a plug under house for sump pump.

The guys at Clausen Electric went WAY beyond the call of duty to help me with an outside electrical problem that left me light less two days before a big evening party. Devon and Kurt even did a light bulb run to get me the exact lights I needed, after they fixed the electrical problem, so that I'd have lights for my big party!
